"I will not be releasing her." I said.
I turned to walk way.
"Let’s go Ginger." I said.
Ginger waved at her mother before turning and following me to the carriage. Roux followed and watched as I helped each woman into the carriage and sat next to her daughter. I stared directly at her as I raised my hand and patted Ginger’s head between her little ears. Roux stood there and watched as the carriage pulled away and went down the street.
"Well that was entertaining." Sarah said looking at Ginger.
"Why did you have to tell her I have soft hands?" Ginger asked.
"Because you do. Would you prefer I told her you have soft lips?" I asked.
"What? No." Ginger said looking at me.
"He should have told her you have a soft ass. That would have really been funny." Amber said.
Ginger glared at Amber as the others continued laughing. After a forty-five minute ride we arrived at the temple.
"I can sense her. She is powerful but her aura is different from Cornelius." I said.
"Maybe it’s because she is an Elf instead of a human." Lilly said.
I stood up and exited the carriage before helping the girls step down. Then I led them into the temple. Once inside the priestess ran to me and greeted me.
"Hello Mister Red. The high Priestess is here. She is waiting for you. Please follow me." She blurted out excitedly in a single breath.
"Please, lead the way." I said.
We followed her to the chapel where she performed the marriage ceremonies. Once we entered there was an Elven woman sitting where the priestess stood during the ceremony. The girls and I sat across from her in the first row of seats and the priestess left the chapel and closed the doors behind her.
"Welcome Mr. Red. My name is Elyndra Genesis, daughter of Serathis and Idril Genesis. It is a pleasure to meet you." She smiled as she held up a golden medallion.
The medallion floated out of her hand and toward me. I raised my hand and took the medallion before looking at it. Instead of the egg from the Prime medallion this one had a massive tree with a canopy that covered nearly half of the medallion. I looked back up at her.
"Pleased to meet you High Priestess. As I’m sure you already know my name is Erik Red. And these are my wives Sarah, Lucy, Amber, and Lyra. This is Lilly the head sister of the Emerald City orphanage and this is her sister Lisa. This is sister Erin from the Sapphire City orphanage. This is my scout Ginger." I said introducing each woman.
The women each bowed their heads as I said their names.
"Please, call me Elyndra." She said.
"Very well, Elyndra. What can I do for you?" I asked.
She laughed, a melodic sound similar to clinking crystal.
"Cornelius has spread the word since your first meeting. He told his family, who then told mine, that you are the first of a brand new race. And that your race is the natural enemy of the goblin race. I have been sent to meet with you. My parents felt since you have already sponsored two of my orphanages I would be the best representative of our family. After hearing about you I have spoken to the priestesses of both cities and am happy with what I’ve heard so far. From what I was told you agreed to sponsor the first one before learning of the incentive program and even became reluctant at the thought of collaring the sisters and wouldn’t do it unless all of them consented first." She said.
"That is correct. I did the same with both orphanages." I said.
"I know." She said.
"So do you have any questions for me? Or for the sisters?" I asked.
"Yes. Where did you get the coin for the sponsorship?" She asked.
"I was born in the western forest. I survived by killing goblins and orcs. The orcs had hoards of shiny objects, including a lot of coins. I kept them for myself and once I met my first wife Sarah she explained what the coins were and what they were worth to the humans." I answered.
"And why did you decide to sponsor the first orphanage when you didn’t know about the incentive program?" She asked.
"After walking around the city with Sarah I was approached by sister Lilly who was asking strangers for donations. I asked her how much she needed and when she said it was a donation and it was up to me I gave her a gold coin. Then a couple of days later I saw her again and she invited me into the orphanage. After seeing the poor condition of the building, the lack of proper food and clothing, the broken beds, and everything else I decided to buy food, beds, clothing, toys and books. After that sister Lilly asked if I wanted to sponsor the orphanage. I asked her what that meant and she explained it to me. I thought about it for a couple of weeks and eventually agreed to it as long as they all consented to it." I explained.
"And what about the second orphanage?" She asked.
"We had a mission from the adventurer guild that took us close to that city. The girls wanted to see the city so I took them. While we were there I stopped by the temple and asked to see the orphanage. It was in such bad shape that it needed a complete rebuild. So I asked the sisters if they were willing to be collared and sponsored and they agreed. The sisters and the children are currently staying in a hotel while the orphanage is being rebuilt." I explained.
"That is the story I heard. But that doesn’t tell me why you did it." She said.
I looked her in the eyes for a full minute before speaking.
