Raising Yanderes to save the world

Chapter 201: Ch 200: The Kidnapping Case

Emma did not say much at his confession. But Kael had a feeling that things were far from over. The look in Emma’s eyes was not a reassuring one.

But she did nod to show that she understood what he was saying, at least.

"I see. In that case, I will break this news to Adrian so you don’t have to worry about it. Just go to sleep and rest as much as you can. I want you to have the best impression of your home here."

Emma told him before she left him alone. Kael sighed and headed back to his bed as well.

The dinner had been awkwardly tense. No one did anything of significance (except Selene’s staring), but it still left Kael feeling exhausted.

He was knocked out as soon as his head hit the pillow, but sleep was hard to come by. He felt half-awake, and he swore he heard the doors opening and closing, which made him open his eyes a little and look around.

Kael’s senses registered a silhouette in front of him that looked familiar, but he could not place where he had seen it before.

He needed to wake up, but his body refused to cooperate with him. It felt too heavy, and his eyes felt like they were glued shut by something, making it hard for Kael to wake up.

"Shhh, there is no need to push yourself anymore. Keep sleeping for now. And when you wake up next, it will all be over."

The soft voice promised, and Kael wanted to sink into that promise. His consciousness slipped even deeper into sleep before he started to realize something was wrong.

Kael had always been sensitive to magic, and he was also quick to pick up on it. So he quickly noticed that he was currently under a foreign influence.

’Darn it! This is a trap! I need to wake up-!’

Panic began to settle inside Kael’s mind as soon as he noticed that he had fallen into a trap, and he struggled with all his might to wake up. But nothing worked, and Kael was not able to force himself awake.

It made him realize that these simple methods would not do, so he tried to force his body to move through sheer willpower.

His nails dug into his hand, and he was thankful for his longer, unkempt nails for the first time because the pain snapped him out of his daze.

Blood flowed out of his palm, and the sting made Kael sigh in relief. He noticed that he was currently moving...and that someone was carrying him like a sack.

His kidnapper had thin but strong shoulders that dug into Kael’s stomach every time he was jolted...

Something was not right. How could Kael be kidnapped just like that? And from the Duke’s castle, nonetheless? Had no one tried to stop his kidnapper?

The only explanation was that the kidnapper had either knocked everyone else out or had never been stopped. And between the two, the second one seemed more likely.

Kael silently prepared his magic to fight off the kidnapper when they suddenly squeezed his back in a threatening manner.

"Don’t try to use any tricks to get out of this situation. I promise it won’t end well for you."

Selene’s voice was soft but threatening. It immediately forced Kael to comply for his own safety.

"Miss Selene, may I ask why you are kidnapping me? As far as I am aware, I have not wronged you in any way."

Kael asked her outright instead of guessing why he was being kidnapped.

He did not recall much about Selene from his memories. But all he could remember was the conflict he had with her.

Kael’s relationship with Selene had always been a rocky one in the past, and as far as he could recall, she had always tried to end his life.

Given her track record, it was clear that she would never change. So Kael was not even sure why he had expected her to change this time.

Heck, he did not even know why she hated him enough to kidnap him. But he knew he had to talk things out with her.

If talking could overcome their differences, then wasn’t it worth giving it a shot?

"Hey, I don’t know what your problem with me is, but I am sure we can talk it out-"

"Talk it out? There is no need for that. Once I bury you, there will no longer be any need for us to talk things out. But you don’t have to worry about it. All you need to do is close your eyes one final time."

Selene promised, and her voice sounded happy. She seemed to have no intention of talking about anything, and Kael felt like cursing.

How could he understand someone who refused to even talk to him about her troubles or why she had kidnapped him?

’This...is a lot worse than I remembered. At least I had Leon and the others to distract her last time. I don’t think the same trick will work this time.’

Kael sighed as he looked at his kidnapper’s back. For now, he decided to let her take him. It was about to be morning, and Kael was sure their disappearance would be noticed soon.

He just had to last until then...or find a way to escape long before that.

Kael could cause a huge explosion with his powers and get out that way, but he had just recovered, and he would rather not push his body too much so soon.

But if Selene did not leave him any other choice, then he would do it.

Luckily for him, Selene decided they had reached their destination and put him down. Kael looked around the old wooden altar, and he got a bad feeling about it.

"What are we going to do here?"

He asked Selene, but she looked distracted. Even so, she replied with a small smile on her face.

"We are going to perform an ancient ceremony. You are a danger to this world, and I am going to make sure your presence does not become its end."
