Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 232: Ch 231: Demon Force’s Attack"I can sense the demons’ presence outside the elf city. It looks like Lyra is here already."
Leon commented as he snuck around the elf settlement with Kael and Seraphina. They were currently disguised under Kael’s spell as they sat down at a bar to eat something.
The dark elf served them food and drinks, which Seraphina quickly purified. Even the food here was infected by corruption, making it much easier for it to spread.
Thankfully, they had more than enough protection, and they filled their bellies before it was time to start following their plan.
"The guards will be too busy dealing with Lyra, so we should take care of the elf tree now. Seraphina, are you ready to perform the purification? Won’t it be too much for you to handle alone?"
Kael asked in a worried voice, but Seraphina let a cocky smile spread across her face.
"There is no need to worry about such trivial things. I trained extra hard while you were gone, and now I can control divine power like it is a second limb. Let me show you the fruits of my labor."
Seraphina looked excited and confident, which made Kael worry a little less. He nodded and decided to leave it to her.
Once they finished their food, it was time for them to head back to the elf tree.
Security was lax this time due to the sudden demonic attack, and they used the distraction to slip past the guards and into the elf tree’s enclosure.
Seraphina instantly set up wards, and Kael erected a barrier to prevent any outside interference.
"I will act as a physical shield in case someone tries to break through the barrier. Now, let’s get this purification done."
Leon stood firmly in front of his two companions, and Seraphina’s divine power began to spread throughout the area.
The holy power rose rapidly, and before anyone knew it, it had surrounded the elf tree, causing it to cry out in pain.
The corruption inside the tree tried to fight back, but with attacks coming from both the outside and the inside, it could not hold on for long. As a result, the tree began to rot rapidly.
Normally, the divine energy within the tree would produce a seed to pass its essence on to. But the divine tree was not doing that.
"Kael, this is bad! The divine tree isn’t producing a seed. We might lose it if we continue."
Seraphina managed to yell while continuing to pour out her divine magic. The corruption was constantly pushing back against her, so she could neither leave her position nor reduce her magical output.
That left Kael as the only one who could check on the elf tree, since Leon was already guarding the perimeter.
Kael placed his hand on one of the elf tree’s branches, and a flood of emotions filled his body. Worry, anger, fear—they all tried to overwhelm his senses. But it was all the corruption trying to take him over.
"Tsk, are you trying to target me? That is foolish of you."
Kael formed several barriers of divine magic around himself, and the corruption immediately began to retreat, now too afraid to approach him. He took advantage of its hesitation to move closer to the heart of the elf tree and placed his hand on one of the branches there, gently coaxing it.
The divine magic inside the elf tree responded to him, drawing a little closer as if trying to reach him.
"You need to let it out. We need the next elf tree to be born. Seraphina and I will protect your essence while you do this. We won’t let the corruption slip inside this time. So please...give us a seed."
Kael spoke softly, and the divine tree seemed hesitant. But soon, it yielded and began condensing its energy.
The corruption noticed this and immediately tried to rush toward it, but Kael blocked its path. He formed a barrier inside the space while Seraphina purified it from the outside.
"We are going to make sure the elf tree is reborn, and the elves get a second chance. So don’t try to stop us."
Kael whispered as he pushed back against the corruption. Their magical powers clashed with increasing intensity, causing the tree to thrash violently. Cracks began to spread across its divine body, and Kael gasped in alarm as he did his best to hold it together.
"Don’t crack just yet! We need you alive and healthy until you produce the seed."
Kael used his magic to reinforce the divine tree, and he could tell it was working. The tree was barely holding together, but it was producing the seed Kael needed.
It was only a matter of time before the tree reached the end of its life, and Kael prayed it would last long enough to produce a healthy seed.
The corruption tried to slip past him, but he quickly blocked it and formed a barrier around the seed that had begun to take shape.
"Just a little longer. Seraphina, can you keep holding on?"
Kael asked, and Seraphina nodded before realizing that Kael could not see her. So this time, she answered loudly.
"I’m fine, and I can hold on a little longer. You don’t have to worry about me."
She promised, and Kael let out a sigh before looking back at the seed. It was almost fully formed, and the divine tree looked to be at the end of its lifespan. It had begun to burn in divine flames, and Kael quickly grabbed the seed the moment it finished forming.
"Leon, Seraphina, we can let it go now. The seed is finished."
As soon as Kael gave the signal, Leon hurled his sword directly into the center of the divine tree, cleaving it in half. The tree let out a startled, shrill cry before falling silent.
For a moment, no one spoke, unsure of what to say.
Then Seraphina let out a sigh as her legs gave out beneath her.
"W-We did it! We purified the elf tree."
