Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 249: Ch 248: Dragon’s Corruption"This situation is unlike anything I ever imagined. Dragons are divine creatures with a divine mission to fight against corruption. They should not be capable of being corrupted. And yet..."
The female dragon sitting on top of Kael’s shoulder was starting to sound sad, and for good reason.
A lot of things were happening that she had never expected, and that was changing her view of the current situation. She was also worried about her brother and what could happen to him if she did not reach him soon.
"Hey, human, I don’t want to rush you, but maybe taking this break is a bad idea. My brother is a foolish dragon, so there is no telling what might happen—"
"I understand that it is a dire situation for you, Miss Dragon. But humans are not machines that can work whenever you want them to. We need proper rest and recovery if you want to see us do anything."
Leon pointed out in an almost rude voice. He looked tired after the long day he had, and the dragon sitting on Kael’s shoulder immediately went quiet. She realized she was crossing a line she should not, and with a heavy heart, she drifted off into an uneasy sleep as well.
The next morning, there were quite a few roars coming from Dragon Mountain, indicating that the dragons were agitated.
"Ugh, why are those pests...I mean, dragons yelling so loudly this early? Don’t they see what time it is?"
Lyra asked in an annoyed voice. The demon queen loved her rest, so the fact that she had to wake up in the middle of it did not suit her. And she was not the only one who was annoyed by this.
Only the female dragon sitting on top of Kael’s shoulder seemed to know what the dragons were doing. But she hesitated to convey the truth she knew.
"Miss Dragon, do you wish to share with us what is happening?"
Kael asked, and the dragon finally had no choice but to tell him and the others what was going on.
"The dragons are trying to call out to each other in order to confirm that everyone is still here. They must have noticed that one of them is missing. It seems they had no idea a dragon got corrupted."
The dragon emperor’s sister knew that it made sense, in dragon terms, to look for a missing individual.
Dragons were creatures with a strong sense of individuality, but they did not reproduce often. That made their limited numbers that much more precious and formed a bond between them that could not be broken.
If a dragon was killed, the whole herd usually gathered to avenge their fallen comrade. That was how strong their bond usually was.
So it was not unusual for them to be looking around in worry either.
But the more important question was what they should do next. Tensions would be high in the dragons’ nest today. It would be for the best not to meet the dragon emperor today.
"I think it would be for the best if we turned back for today. The dragon emperor might not be in the mood to entertain us."
The female dragon sighed before giving her advice, but no one chose to take it. Instead, they quickly decided that they were going to keep moving forward.
"Let’s keep going. We came this far already, so we might as well keep pressing forward."
Iris sighed, and Lyra quickly continued.
"I want to quickly finish here and then get back home. Anyway, I am confident that we would be able to run away if things truly get sour."
The demon queen sounded confident, but she was not the only one. The fact that they had managed to drive the dragons away once already spoke volumes about how powerful they were.
The female dragon knew that their confidence was not in vain, but she still could not help but feel worried about the situation.
But what could she do in the end when the people she was warning were not willing to listen to her? She had no choice but to keep guiding them and hope that her brother would listen to her.
"Don’t worry. If nothing else works, then I will just break the curse on you and back you up when you deal with your brother. Who knows? You might end up becoming the dragon queen instead."
Kael asked, and the female dragon shuddered at his confidence.
She could not even imagine taking the mantle of ruler that belonged to her brother. He was born into this role, and he would remain in it until he died. And the female dragon would not be able to bear it if her brother died.
"Human, I know that you are trying to help me out, but I must warn you beforehand—if you are thinking of fighting my brother and killing him, then you had better reconsider your choice. No dragon would be able to forgive you for this sin."
She warned him, and Kael let out a chuckle at her words before replying.
"That is fine. I never expected to be forgiven for my actions anyway. But I am still willing to fight for what I know is right. So you don’t have to worry about anything."
Kael promised the dragon sitting on his shoulder, and the female dragon shuddered at his words. She could tell that Kael was serious about this, but it still did not sit well with her.
Kael noticed her hesitation and decided to bring up a topic he had never wanted to discuss.
"What are you going to do if your brother is corrupted as well? He might be the dragon emperor, but there is no such thing as absolute certainty in this world. Are you going to sit back and let him continue like this?"
Kael pointed out, and the female dragon looked stumped by his words. It was clear that she had never considered that possibility. But now that she had, she could not get those words out of her mind.
’What would...I do if that happened? I have no idea...’
But one thing she did know—she could not let her brother and the other dragons suffer.
