Susan’s words left Tang Tang lost in thought.
After a moment of silence, Tang Tang asked with difficulty, "Do I really have to sell my body? Isn’t there any other way?"
After saying this, Tang Tang’s resolve hardened. "Shanshan! I don’t want to do this, and I don’t want to cheat on my boyfriend."
Tang Tang bit her lip and said, "Shanshan, I know you’re trying to help me! But I don’t want this. I’ll just find a regular job and maybe try writing a novel on the side."
Susan wanted to say something, but it felt like something was caught in her throat.
Seeing Susan’s expression, Tang Tang smiled and said, "Don’t worry about me, you go have fun! It’s not like you have a boyfriend right now anyway! I’m heading back to school!"
Just as Tang Tang finished speaking, she spotted an empty taxi and hailed it.
After seeing Tang Tang off in the taxi, Susan returned to Wu Yun and his companion.
"Let’s go, Eldest Young Master Wu. I still want to pick your brain about livestreaming tonight!"
The three of them treated it as an after-dinner stroll and walked toward the Neyro Hotel.
...
On October 31st, the sun was already high in the sky when Wu Yun finally left the hotel. He got into his private car and headed back to Shida Modern Garden.
The previous night, the three of them had chatted about livestreaming while playing Fight the Landlord.
Susan had agreed to sign with Xingyun Media and was planning to meet with Wu Ying and Jiang Xinyi the next afternoon.
Of course, Wu Yun had called Wu Ying right there in front of the two women, explaining the situation in fits and starts.
He also briefly mentioned the game project, saying he would come see them after he returned from Modu.
Wu Ying and Jiang Xinyi, of course, knew what Wu Yun was up to, so they just teased him a bit before hanging up.
He had lunch with Wen Meng, quickly packed his luggage, and then he and Wei Wu took a Little Red Car private ride straight to the airport.
...
Today was Friday. Wu Yun had originally planned to have someone from Pinduoduo pick him up, but Qi Fei found out about his schedule a few days ago and insisted on having Li Fengying wait for him in the nanny van.
At the arrivals gate, the bustling crowd naturally parted around the three women standing off to the side.
However, most people who passed by couldn’t help but stare at Qi Fei’s flawless face.
THUD.
A young man in his twenties clutched his nose and awkwardly detoured around the glass door.
Qi Fei looked away from the source of the sound and turned her head, just in time to see Wu Yun’s handsome face, followed by a tall, powerful figure.
Wu Yun was hit by a wave of familiar, fragrant perfume as Qi Fei’s soft body threw itself into his arms.
Before Qi Fei’s feet even touched the ground, Wu Yun scooped her up by the waist, buried his face in her softness, and spun her around in a circle before setting her down.
The scene looked just like a reunion of a young couple from a TV drama after a long separation.
Public displays of affection weren’t Wu Yun’s style, especially with three third wheels watching.
"Let’s go see the new home you’ve set up."
Qi Fei had already completed all the paperwork for Cofco Seaview No. 1. She had also consulted Wu Yun and replaced the original furniture and appliances.
At the same time, Qi Fei had also hired a full-time housekeeper to cook and handle the basic cleaning.
During this time, Qi Fei had been on a video call with her mother, who accidentally caught a glimpse of Qi Fei’s surroundings and couldn’t help but ask a few questions.
Since Qi Fei knew her parents were aware of her relationship with Wu Yun, she openly admitted that this was the house Wu Yun had bought for her in Modu. She even took a photo of the red property title certificate and sent it to their small family group chat.
During a family video call, Liu Yan had even reprimanded Qi Guo right in front of Qi Fei, saying, "Look at that Wu Yun, and then look at you! When we were dating, why didn’t I ever see you treat me so wholeheartedly!?"
Qi Guo looked aggrieved and a little awkward. "I wasn’t as rich as Wu Yun when I was that young!"
"From what I can see, you’re not as rich as Wu Yun now, either!"
Wu Yun’s new base in Modu was now settled.
Li Fengying drove Wu Yun and Qi Fei to the entrance, then took Wei Wu to his own accommodations.
At the entrance to their building, Qi Fei first took Wu Yun to the concierge to register his information in the property management system.
Only after that little detour did they finally arrive at their new home.
Pushing the door open, Wu Yun was greeted by a rich, fragrant aroma. He couldn’t tell what was being braised.
After they changed into slippers, Qi Fei pulled Wu Yun toward the dining room.
"Aunt Wang, this is the Wu Yun I’m always talking about. My boyfriend! And my future husband." As Qi Fei said this, a genuine smile spread across her face.
Aunt Wang looked to be in her late forties or early fifties, slightly plump, with a very kind smile.
She wiped her hands on her apron and said with a laugh, "Mr. Wu, hello! Please don’t hesitate to tell me what you’d like to eat in the future. I can make most home-style dishes, and I have a few specialties of my own."
As she spoke, she glanced back at the stove in the kitchen before continuing with a smile, "Miss Qi mentioned that you both like spicy food, so tonight I’ve made boiled fish in chili oil, some braised pork ribs, and of course, a seaweed and egg drop soup."
"Why don’t you two sit and rest! I’ll get back to it. I’ll call you when dinner is ready!"
Sitting on the hanging chair on the balcony, Wu Yun wrapped his arm around Qi Fei’s slender waist. The two of them just sat there, looking out at the night view of the Bund across the river.
"Senior, this housekeeper seems great. Where did you find her?" Wu Yun was curious. He knew that such a capable, full-time housekeeper would be in high demand.
Leaning against Wu Yun, Qi Fei first sniffed at his neck before smiling and saying, "I wasn’t sure where to look at first either. I mentioned it to the building manager, and she recommended three suitable candidates to me that very day."
"Aunt Wang was the most experienced one I looked at. She’s worked for three other owners like us, and her last employer was also in our complex, so she’s very familiar with the area."
Qi Fei glanced at the busy figure in the kitchen and continued, "Aunt Wang has been here for a week, and she’s very diligent. When I hired her, I told her she didn’t need to do a deep clean every day, but she still spends an hour or two making the whole place spotless."
"Her cooking is amazing, too. I’ve barely eaten the same dish twice these past few days. You’ll see when we eat in a bit."
Wu Yun’s hand started to wander, but Qi Fei slapped it away. He chuckled and said, "So what’s Aunt Wang’s monthly salary? A live-in housekeeper like this can’t be cheap."
"I’m paying her nine thousand a month, with one day off a week." Qi Fei stuck out her tongue, worried Wu Yun would say she was being a sucker.
Wu Yun smiled and stroked Qi Fei’s face. "It’s definitely on the high side, but it’s still reasonable. This apartment is huge, after all!"
"Mr. Wu, Miss Qi! You can come and eat now!" Aunt Wang called out to the two on the balcony as she placed the last dish, the seaweed and egg drop soup, on the table.
When Wu Yun came to the table, he saw that their bowls of rice had already been served, with a smaller portion for Qi Fei.
"Aunt Wang, please sit down and eat with us!"
Aunt Wang smiled and declined, "No need to be polite, Mr. Wu. I’ll just have something simple in my room!"
"Just leave the dishes on the table when you’re done! I’ll come clean up later." With that, she left the two of them alone, walking through the kitchen and into the housekeeper’s room.
