After Liao Bin used the yacht’s radio to call for help, the vessel remained where it was, drifting on the water.
The aroma of grilled fish once again filled the air around the yacht.
The two foreigners smelled the fragrant fish, and their mouths began to water uncontrollably. However, having spent years on the move, they knew better than to eat greasy food immediately after days of starvation.
So, they could only watch with longing eyes as the men and women happily feasted on fish and meat.
Having washed up and changed into a fresh set of clothes, the couple no longer looked as disheveled or smelled as bad as they did when they were first pulled from the sea.
They instantly looked ten years younger, though their faces were still pale and devoid of color.
Leach looked at his wife, smiled, and said in German, "When we get home this time, we should take a good, long rest!"
Luojia took a small sip of mineral water and gazed at the sparkling sea, a lingering fear still in her heart. "Since we’re in Huaxia now, let’s rest here for a bit! Once we get our visas, I want to travel and clear my head."
"Sigh. We escaped in such a hurry, we couldn’t bring much with us. Otherwise, we could have properly thanked our saviors." After speaking, Leach glanced around. Seeing that no one was paying attention, he tossed a pistol he had been keeping close to his body into the sea.
The two of them silently watched the silver pistol as it slowly sank into the depths, a moment of speechlessness passing between them.
In the distance, the sound of a ship’s horn drew everyone’s attention.
A blue and white vessel, bearing the words "Huaxia Coast Guard" in both Chinese and English, appeared about a kilometer away.
White waves parted on either side as the vessel cut through the water.
Maintaining a safe distance, they lowered a small boat into the sea, which quickly made its way to the yacht’s aft deck.
Three coast guardsmen in camouflage and life jackets boarded the yacht, easily spotting the two foreigners in the crowd.
Liao Bin hurried over with a smile. "Officers! These are the two Germans we rescued from the sea! Their life raft is over there."
One of the coast guardsmen spoke in fluent English, "Hello, you two! Please come with us to complete some paperwork and verify your identities. Afterward, we will contact your embassy to come and get you."
Leach and his wife pulled their mostly empty backpacks from the floor and shouldered them. They turned to Wu Yun and said, "Mr. Wu, thank you again for your help. We’ve had your secretary save our satellite phone number. If you ever have the chance to visit Germany, we will be sure to host you properly!"
Wu Yun smiled back. "You’re welcome! If I get the chance, I’ll definitely visit Germany!"
Wu Yun fell into thought as he watched the couple board the coast guard’s speedboat.
’Those two are something else,’ Wu Yun thought. ’They have a whole host of mastered Skills, including small arms use and hand-to-hand combat. Leach even has mastered Skills in wilderness survival and boat piloting.’ He didn’t dwell on it too much, just concluding they were talented individuals. Otherwise, they would never have dared to cross the ocean in a boat like that.
"Xiaoyunzi, what are you still staring at? Hurry up and get back here to eat!" Qi Fei called out, leaning over the railing of the top deck to look down at the dazed Wu Yun.
Wu Yun looked up and squinted. The sunlight was filtering through the gaps in Qi Fei’s hair, making it hard for him to keep his eyes open.
Wu Yun smiled and said, "Coming, coming!"
...
By the time they finished lunch, it was already two in the afternoon.
The weather was no longer suitable for swimming, so everyone unanimously decided to head back to port.
After the yacht started moving, Wu Yun grabbed a fishing rod, switched to a special trolling lure, and cast the hook out diagonally from the boat.
The feathered lure kept pace with the yacht, creating a trail of white spray on the water’s surface.
To avoid being pulled into the water by a big fish, Wu Yun positioned a deck chair behind the second-level railing. This way, he could react quickly if he got a bite and would have something to brace against.
"Brother Gang! How’d it go? Did you guys manage to get their WeChats?" Wu Yun put on his sunglasses, through which he could clearly see the smug expressions on Wang Gang and the others.
"You’re asking the wrong question. A pro gets it done, simple as that," Cao Junlong said with a smirk.
Only Ye Wentao seemed awkward. "I didn’t get it! Zeng Shengnan told me she’s into girls!"
"Are you stupid? Just say you want to be friends and then work on her slowly!" Cao Junlong said, exasperated by his friend’s lack of game.
Wu Yun asked about how the others fared and was surprised to learn that Wang Gang had actually gotten Song Qin’s contact information.
Only Li Dongliang said, "I’d rather not mess with their lives. My family recently arranged a blind date for me. I heard she’s the daughter of some rich businessman and is still in school."
The others felt a bit helpless regarding Li Dongliang’s situation. There was nothing to be done; his family had too much influence over him, to the point that his entire career path had been arranged by them.
Wu Yun looked at the other three and said seriously, "Flirt all you want, but don’t you dare mess anyone up! They’re Qi Fei’s classmates, after all, and Song Qin is even her roommate!"
"Got it, boss!" Cao Junlong had just finished speaking when his sharp eyes noticed the fishing rod, which was resting in its holder, was bending. He shouted, "Young Master Wu! You’ve got a fish on the line!"
Wu Yun instinctively spun around and grabbed the rod. A tremendous force immediately traveled up the line, pulling him so hard he staggered.
Wang Gang quickly steadied Wu Yun by the shoulders. Wu Yun righted himself, bracing his left foot against the railing and stepping his right foot back into a lunge. Clamping the rod with his body, he leaned back and sank his weight, beginning the struggle with the great fish in the sea.
The reel was having trouble holding the line, so Wu Yun quickly used his hand to help brake the spool.
Fortunately, Wu Yun’s stamina was far beyond that of an ordinary person. After a stalemate between man and fish that lasted over ten minutes, he finally felt the force from the rod begin to lessen.
Thus, with a rhythm of pulling and reeling, he began to retrieve the line.
"Holy shit! What kind of fish is that?!" As a landlubber from the interior, the biggest fish Cao Junlong had ever seen before today was a silver carp, maybe forty or fifty centimeters long.
"It’s a tuna!" Having purchased Mastery in Sea Fishing, Wu Yun had a clear understanding of common saltwater fish.
It was still some distance away, so Wu Yun couldn’t make out the exact species.
"Quick, quick, go get the landing net!" Wu Yun shouted as he continued to reel in the line.
A sailor ran over, quickly grabbing a landing net.
"Whoa! That fish must be a meter long! It’s huge!" one of the girls exclaimed.
As the tuna drew closer, the sailor shouted, "It’s a bigeye tuna!"
The yacht’s speed had now slowed. Liao Bin and another sailor came over, and the three of them, wearing gloves, hauled the exhausted tuna onto the deck.
"President Wu! This fish has to be at least a hundred pounds!"
Holding his fishing rod, Wu Yun went down to the lowest deck. "Wang Hao! Take a picture of me! I’m gonna post this on Weibo! Haha!"
Wu Yun borrowed Liao Bin’s gloves, first giving the still-conscious tuna a solid punch to knock it out. Only then, with the help of two sailors, did he carefully hoist the tuna into his arms.
After the photo was taken, Liao Bin found a large water tank and had the two sailors carefully place the tuna inside.
"Captain Liao, are there any restaurants near the marina that specialize in preparing seafood?"
"Yes, sir! Of course! Would you like me to contact one for you?"
