Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 1184 Michael’s Nascent Influence

Finally, the seventh and final day of the Feast had come. Now, there were still some cheering and festivities going on in New Sparta like lively music, banderas slung on lines near the skylines, and marching bands walking all over the streets.

However, those were made by the elites. It was a way to keep up appearances, making sure that people still celebrated despite the obvious tragedy that happened yesterday.

The Rebornians, of course, had already finished their preparations. Kiosks were repaired, food were prepared, and even the Shadow Orcs were getting active.

Michael arrived in New Sparta very early in the morning.

Last night, he had experimented with his own powers. And the results left him completely speechless.

Once he enveloped the lizard with his Nascent Influence, he was surprised to see that the creature had learned to adapt in every kind of situation that he put it in.

For example, he brought the lizard high up in the night sky and dropped it down.

And suddenly, the lizard grew webbed feet on its legs and began flying. It soared through the starry blue fields in the air as if it had been flying throughout all of its life. It was natural at it.

Evolution, Michael realized. That was his power. Changing, adapting, into whatever characteristics it needed in order to survive. And it’s his Nascent Influence that allowed the lizard to undergo this evolution seamlessly. It allowed the lizard to believe it had always been able to fly.

He continued to experiment with his powers. He brought fire and dunked it in a lake. The flames, which should have been quenched, still flickered with life, vigor, and ferocity despite the cool water that washed over it.

This was all thanks to his Nascent Influence!

Michael couldn’t help but let his imagination run wild. What kind of things could he do with his Nascent Influence?

Could he make a normal human, a mortal, believe that he was a powerful Maugnetic despite not having a single ounce of GodForge piece in his chest?

His imaginations proved too lofty. It failed when he tried it out with a civilian he met while soaring through the mountainside near the Kings region.

A lonely mushroom gatherer had trouble scaling up sheer cliff mountainside wall to reach the coveted Uni-mushroom at the top. It would sell for a single gold coin. Lifetime money for a guy like him.

Michael willed this gatherer to become a superhuman. For him to defy reality, defy his humanity.

But it failed. The man jumped up continuously, but could not find it in himself to reach the mushroom. He left, despondent.

Michael continued to test the limits of his Nascent Influence. As it turned out, it wasn’t just the size that was limiting him, as he thought. It was complexity.

He could alter a small lizard and not a human because a human had its own consciousness, its own ego.

He could make a stone boulder the size of a two-story house believe it’s made out of ice and therefore melt under intense heat, but he could not make a demi-human child believe himself to evolve into a different species.

Of course, he had reason to believe that if he continued to progress his cultivation and reach the peak stage of the Nascent Spirit realm, he could do anything that he set his mind on to, but for now, he was limited to small changes. Small, incremental changes.

The harder or the more fundamental the change he made, the more he felt the resistance. Trying to change the mushroom-gatherer had made Michael’s core start to thump at him uncomfortably, like a muscle trying to warn him he was lifting too heavy a weight.

But at least now, he knew his own Nascent Influence. He could fight on even grounds with those Upper Echelons.

And the best of all, he could protect his friends, family, and all of Reborn.

The very first thing he did after he woke up was increase the ‘blanket’ he had over the Rebornians. He was protecting them from any future Nascent Influence changes.

He tried to undo the change the Grandmaster did, but that proved to be impossible.

Either way, at least now, they wouldn’t be subject to any Nascent Influence that was under the 5th stage.

Hopefully, that could change very soon. With the Grandmaster still out there somewhere, there was a very real chance that he wouldn’t stop at only one Nascent Influence change in the world. Michael had to be ready by then. Thankfully, he was progressing quite quickly.

[Spirit: 396/1000]

He now needed a thousand spirit if he wanted to advance to the third stage of the Nascent Spirit realm.

If this pattern persisted throughout the entire 9 stages of the Nascent Spirit realm, that meant that at the fourth stage, he’d have to get 10,000 Spirits, and 100,000 Spirits at the 5th stage and so on.

Only now did he truly understand why Spirits were so important. It also explained why there were only a few Nascent Spirit cultivators.

With the gathering of Spirits being as vague, unexplainable, and completely unique to each individual as possible, it was very hard to find a way to reliably earn Spirit.

Michael didn’t even know how he got those extra 396 Spirits.

During the Prison Escape with Huntrax, Michael remembered gaining tons of Spirit for no exact reason. They filled him to the limit, and now it seemed to have overflowed over to the 2nd stage.

And there was the Ersatz Diamond Leader.

He killed a 6th stage Nascent Spirit cultivator. That seemed to earn him a lot of Spirits as well.

Anyway, Michael focused his attention on New Sparta.

Early in the day, the Upper Echelon companies and Conglomerates in the Feast had pulled out all the stops in order to attract their customers.

They brought out the most shiny embellishments, the most eye-catching displays, and the most alluring food they could.

But despite all they did, they couldn’t stop the people of New Sparta from crowding McTony’s restaurant.
