Reborn In A Cultivation World With All Cheat Abilities
Chapter 196: Going HomeJacob stood directly in front of the World Tree in all its might, the breeze after the battle was just as smooth as it was before the battle began. The stench of demon breath and rotting skin had filled the air and made it thicker.
The multi-colored leaves rustled in the wind as Jacob studied the bark of the tree, the closer he looked, the more the linings on the bark looked like runic patterns.
He almost got lost in them until Yggros’ voice pulled him out of his somewhat trance-like state.
"You have done extremely well, Jacob Ironfell. The world owes you a great debt." She said in her ethereal voice, he could not quite tell but he was sure that wherever she was, she was smiling.
"Oh no, I don’t want the world to owe me anything. In truth, I was just thinking about my family..." Jacob turned back and caught sight of Alaric and Esty talking to each other and laughing, Xenia and Light were also talking to each other and laughing.
His mind drifted to his his parents. In that moment, he felt glad that he was able to keep them all safe.
Seraphina was doing much better by now, she rested up against the other end of the tree, Rhaenys held her hand.
"They mean a lot to me." Jacob concluded his sentence as a faint smile tugged at his lips.
"Very well, Jacob, it’s very evident how much you love your family."
There was nothing but silence between them for a moment as the wind blew softly, causing Jacob’s hair and clothes to flutter, dancing to its tunes.
"What about you Yggros, are you just going to live in the tree from now on?" The young man asked, his face expressionless as he focused his gaze on the spot on the tree where Yggros’ voice seemed to be emanating from.
"Most likely, I have devoted my life to this tree here, to its protection, and to its provision. Seeing as the rest of my kind are gone, there is nothing more for me to do in the world. I leave that all to you. To all of you." Yggros responded in a very light tone of voice. It was evident enough that she was sad about what she was saying, but it was also clear that her mind was made up.
Jacob didn’t respond, he turned around and looked at the garden, it looked as though a very enormous monster had trampled upon it very violently, and without remorse.
He turned back around and faced the tree. "I’m sorry about your garden, I’ll fix it."
"Oh no, don’t you worry your pretty little head, Jacob, watch this." She said to him and all of a sudden, a faint hum began to emanate from the tree. The tree started to pulse as though it were breathing.
The colorful leaves on the tree started to glow in bright golden hues as Jacob turned around again to gaze upon the the terrain that lay in complete and utter chaos before him.
Slowly but surely, the ground began to heal itself, the walls magically reconstructed, the craters filled up, the ashes were gone, and in less than a few minutes; the entire garden was covered in beautiful, sweet smelling flowers.
The rest of the people, including Jacob looked at it in amazement of how beautiful it was.
The birds of the air were suddenly attracted to the sweet scent of the flowers as they flew down and started to perch on them, tweeting and singing beautiful harmonies.
"Voila!" Yggros exclaimed, forcing Jacob to turn back towards the tree. "That’s the power of the World Tree."
Jacob smiled and bid his farewell to Yggros, moving away from the tree. Although they had tasted victory today, he knew it wasn’t actually over, and that the Demon King was still down in Helmand, and would stop at nothing to escape.
But he would cross that bridge whenever they got to it. For now, nothing could stop him from enjoying the moment. He took in a deep breath as he walked towards the direction where Esty and Alaric were, smiling at them.
"Haha, my grandson, you know boy, you really are something. You need to tell me all about how you got these powers of yours. You might even be more overpowered than me." Alaric laughed heartily as he said those words, causing Jacob and Esty to laugh as well as they all walked towards the direction where Light and Xenia where.
"Honey admit it, Jacob is stronger than you." Esty said with a short chuckle, she knew it was true and was not afraid to say it, but she wasn’t too sure the man would agree.
"What!? No way..." Alaric swung his hand across Jacob’s shoulder and the boy’s face turned pitch black in that moment as he did not know what to say. "Your grandmother here thinks you could beat me in a good old sparring session."
"Oh no, I could never beat you." Jacob smiled back at him, and all of them started to laugh.
"What do you say we go home boy?" Alaric asked Jacob with a straight face.
Now that the threat was dealt with, there was nothing stopping them from returning to the Ironfell castle for as long as possible.
Neither Esty, nor Alaric had any plans of taking the positions back from Rhoarin and Elena, so they would live the rest of their days in the castle as guests, eating food and fulfilling all their side quests. They would leave the adulting to the kids for now.
"I’d like that." Jacob responded, he was frankly tired of exploring and decided going back home wasn’t going to hurt, and Xenia also needed time to recuperate, so it was fine to go back to the castle.
Besides, if he ever did want to go anywhere, he could simply snap his fingers and he would appear at his designated location in a flash, so there was no need for traveling around in carriages anymore. Now he would just focus on what comes next for him. He was only 16 and so much had happened already, he had a full life ahead of him, and he was not going to waste it. He wanted to experience everything.
