Red could not wait to exchange all the bodies for loot, but he was being patient. He went for the two closest Elite Kobold Fighters first. He got six Mediocre Cores from them, and three of them were Magic Cores, which he needed for his next level up.
Red was about to absorb them, but he stopped himself. He opened his status to check how much he needed to reach the next threshold. He needed 0.4 Intelligence and 2.8 Mind for the next threshold.
A frown formed as he did a mental calculation. The Mediocre Quality Core increased his stats by over 1. The lowest he received from the Mediocre Quality was a 1.4 increase.
He would reach level 12 with these three cores, but he found it was a pity to use them right now. He reached into his Storage Pouch and threw the empty plate and bowl he planned to bring back.
Red put the six Mediocre Cores in his storage as he continued looting. He first secured all the Elite Kobold Fighters’ bodies in sight. He found twelve bodies nearby and got twenty-nine Mediocre Cores from them, with thirteen Might Cores and sixteen Magic Cores.
He took his sword out of his pouch and stored it. Seven slots were occupied with his blessing food, which left him holding six Might Cores in his hand. That was when he started looking for the weaker kobold, as he needed to reach level 12 first before using the Mediocre Cores.
Red exchanged ten small kobold bodies, getting twenty-five inferior cores from them, with fourteen Might Cores and eleven Magic Cores.
"Eleven should be enough..."
He put aside the Might Cores and started absorbing the Magic Cores.
[You have reached level 12!]
The alert appeared before his eyes that he had reached level 12 when he absorbed the sixth core. That was about right, not far from his initial calculation.
He didn’t stop, absorbing the remaining cores, including the fourteen Might Cores. With all this loot, he might reach level 14. It was possible with his new rate of absorption.
Red reached for the Mediocre Cores in his Storage Pouch after absorbing all the mediocre cores: sixteen Mediocre Might Cores and nineteen Mediocre Magic Cores. He checked his status after absorbing all the Mediocre Cores. He believed that should give him significant progress to level 13, and he was shocked to see his progress.
Name: ???
Level: 12
Health: 1542 Stamina: 1328 (+100) Mana: 1737
[Tier 1 Might]
Strength: 194.4 (+9.4, +65) Endurance: 146.4 (+6.4, +20) Vitality: 154.2(+9.4, +25) Dexterity: 297.6 (+7.6, +170)
[Tier 1 Magic]
Intelligence: 190 (+15.4) Wisdom: 190 (+15) Arcane Perception: 188.6 (+8.6) Mind: 184.8 (+7.6)
His Intelligence and Wisdom had reached the threshold of level 13. His Arcane Perception, Strength, and Vitality were very close. His Strength and Vitality just needed one inferior core to reach the threshold. Arcane Perception might need two or three inferior cores.
His Dexterity was three-quarters to the threshold, and his Endurance and Mind were half to the threshold. He underestimated how much the Mediocre Cores gave him.
With level 13 within his reach, Red moved quickly. He sorted it out, looking for the small kobolds. He ignored the Elite Kobold Fighter even if he passed them. He exchanged another ten bodies, and that got him twenty-six cores this time, with fifteen Might Cores and eleven Magic Cores.
The eleven Magic Cores were about right, helping all his Magic Stats reach the threshold. However, he still needed more Might Cores for his Might Stat.
Red kept looking for more bodies and then received a notification that he was level 13. That motivated him as he picked up his pace. He first looked for the smaller kobolds. It was better to absorb the inferior cores first, not wanting to waste the Mediocre Cores.
He decided to exchange everything into loot first before absorbing them later. He traded all bodies he passed for loot, whether the Elite Kobold Fighters or the normal kobold.
For safety, he put the Mediocre Cores in his pouch and put the Inferior Cores near the tree. He had exchanged more than twenty normal kobolds, yet he kept finding their bodies. He scoured the whole area and exchanged more than a hundred normal kobolds, including the first over twenty earlier.
Red didn’t count how many normal kobolds there were, but he was speechless when he saw the big piles of cores in front of him. He underestimated their numbers and was not expecting to get this many.
He separated them into two piles: a Might Core pile and a Magic Core pile. He estimated he had more than three hundred inferior cores right before him. On top of it, he also had forty-two Mediocre Cores from the Elite Kobold Fighter. Unfortunately, he didn’t get any skill scroll or skill book this time.
He figured out that was the case because he received assistance in defeating them. It was just a guess, but he felt like he would likely get better loot if he defeated his opponent by himself. The two slithering beasts were the main contribution in this battle. Without them as a distraction, he would not be able to wipe out the kobold.
Red suddenly frowned as he looked at the pile of cores. He felt like he forgot about something, something important. He tried to figure out what it was, but he could not recall anything.
Red shrugged and started absorbing the cores, and this time he counted the cores he used. He was curious how many cores he got from this battle, which is why he counted them.
He figured out something else while counting how many cores he absorbed. It took seventeen to nineteen cores to reach the threshold. It took seventeen inferior cores for his Strength, Vitality, and Endurance to reach the threshold, and nineteen cores for his Dexterity.
It was the same with his Magic Stat. In fact, it took fewer cores to reach the threshold for his Magic Stat. It took sixteen Magic Cores for Wisdom to reach the threshold. Seventeen for Intelligence and Mind, and eight cores for Arcane Perception.
