Red kept the cores in his Storage Pouch. These high-quality cores reminded him of the level of the Elite Kobold Fighters. The first time he killed them, he got a feat for killing an enemy thirty levels above his own.

The feat rewarded him with a Tier Stat Upgrade, which increased his absorption rate. Since then, he had killed more Elite Kobold Fighters. He had accumulated a lot of kills, more than ten, maybe even more than twenty Elite Kobold Fighters. Yet he was not rewarded with another feat.

Red glanced toward the direction where the beast left with its baby. That was when he figured out that the beast would head toward where the kobolds were with its children. That meant the kobolds’ settlement might be in the opposite direction.

That was decided as he went in the opposite direction of the beast. Another reason he went in the opposite direction was to avoid the beast as well. He was not going to follow the beast to their territory after what the beast went through. They might have fought together, but that didn’t mean they were allies.

The encounter with the beast reminded him that there might be more beasts as powerful as the slithering beasts around. It was better for him to be more careful and pay more attention to his surroundings. He slowed down despite having his blessing activated.

Red was searching for the kobold’s settlement thoroughly and carefully. He would rather be slow than get ambushed by the top predator in the jungle. It was not like the Chief told him to find the kobold’s settlement today.

He didn’t just look below, but also kept an eye on the tree. He didn’t know there might be beasts that lived on top of trees. Marget and that long-armed Brown Mocue were an example of the creatures living on top of the tree.

But it seemed his guess was correct about the kobolds completely wiping out the beasts in the area. He didn’t find a single living being after his encounter. The blessing from the Crimson Scales Biter dishes had expired, yet he could not even find any clue about the kobold’s settlement.

He considered eating the Grilled Crimson Scales Biter and White Fish Soup to keep his Dexterity up there. He decided not to because he decided to slow down anyway. It was better to keep it for later, and again, he still didn’t know how long this campaign would be.

From what he knew, the Chief would not stop until they destroyed at least three to five villages. That was the impression he had when he talked to the Chief. It seemed the attack on their village truly angered the Chief.

The jungle was dark to begin with as the sun barely came through the tiny gaps of the canopy. It became darker as the sun started to set.

Red’s eyes had adjusted to the dark jungle a long time ago. The lightning was no longer an issue for him, but he knew that it was time to return now. All his blessings had expired by now, and he couldn’t find the kobold’s village.

He thought he had made a smart decision by going in the opposite direction of the beast, but he seemed to be wrong.

’Ten more trees; if there’s nothing, then I will return...’

He jumped to the next tree, then scanned the surroundings and kept doing it until the tenth tree, where he decided that he would go back if he could not find anything.

A frown formed on his forehead as he looked over the village. He stayed in the distance, afraid of getting noticed. His concern was not groundless because the village ahead of him was larger than the one they occupied.

It wasn’t just larger, but it also had a tower. It was not as tall as the tree, but it was tall enough to spot him if he came too close. The wall was more reinforced as well, totally different than the fence in the previous village. This was bad news for them.
