Chapter 933: Chapter 933: Praying Mantis

"Where is the Mantis?" Teez suddenly asked a question that they should have asked a long time ago.

Suddenly, the ground beneath his feet cracked as he dashed to the side. Sliding on the floor and dodging a world-darkening barrage of beams and elemental attacks, Teez flexed his hand.

Across the skin of his fingers slid the cold lightning of his Chimera heart.

Pushing his hand in front of him, frozen lightning surged out of his palm, coursing through the air and striking a few wyverns that had made their way past Victoria and were coming for him.

His combat instincts kicked in and went full drive. The might of a Chimera coursed through his body in full effect, showing how he was able to fight above his tier.

However, the question that he had asked still lingered in the minds of all who had heard it.

Olivia, literally standing at the center of all this was unaffected. Her smile had not faltered and her stance had not become bent.

She was completely unafraid. Different elemental attacks passed through the air around her and did not touch her. These wyverns did not have the power level needed to make her seriously dodge anything.

At most, she did a few side steps and turned her head once in a while but she hardly moved away from her initial spot.

While all this was happening, she had enough time to turn around and look at the arkship they had crashed in.

Although they were the only lions inside the arkship before it had crashed, they were not the only creatures inside.

As the son-in-law of the All-King and a pride leader, Teez had been given a few starting resources to help him fund his new lion lifestyle.

After all, many were trying to be friends with the son-in-law of the All-King. But that was as far as it had gone.

They could not help him start up his own clan or acquire his own vassals, there was a market for that and Teez had to navigate it with the help of Victoria and Raychel while learning from their brothers.

At the end of the day, his new lion clan was still very small, just three members, no children or external relatives had joined. He did not have any brothers to join and become princes for him and his brother-in-laws would rather die than become the prince of anyone else other than the All-King.

Teez ended up picking one of the vassals to start with at first. Although he had been advised to have a diversified portfolio of vassal subordinates, he had to start somewhere.

The Mantis was the race he chose to start with.

An exceptional race, one would have to admit. Their affiliation to the Assassination was strong but it did not dictate their daily lives.

Alas, that was the precise reason why Teez had gotten them.

Assassination was a very lucrative business for the kings who had the resources. Assassinating another lion was usually frowned upon, even though it was possible, so Teez did not have the intention of assassinating his fellow lions.

He was not ready for the retaliation that would follow.

But, the Mantis were still good vassals to adopt.

It was his Mantis Army subordinates that had accompanied him and his consorts today.

When Olivia looked at the arkship, her eyes pierced through the metal hull.

She obviously could not see through the metal surface; none of her powers allowed such an ability. But she was so good with the manipulation of probability and luck that she could construct a simulation of what was happening within the arkship with ninety-nine percent accuracy, especially if she was this close to it.

And sure enough, her prophetic eyes did not lie. The Mantises were there.

But they were not like the royal race. The crash had disoriented them. While the clan king and his family were climbing out, the mantises within were still trying to get their bearings.

But now, they had heard Teez’s call and were all rushing out.

*BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

...

Slamming into the corridors of the arkship and bursting out of the multiple hatches, the mantises revealed themselves.

At the top of the fallen arkship, one particular mantis crawled out of the hatch and stood tall, overlooking everything.

His four insect legs were poised like those of a centaur, standing apart and gripping the metal surface.

In front of it, his forelimbs were raised in a praying fashion, their pointed tips facing the ground and the edges shining with a dark metallic light.

The body of this praying mantis was at least three meters tall, clad in a metallic black exoskeleton and a front bio blade that had a silver hue.

The two large eyes of the Praying Mantis searched below the moon-sized arkship, searching for its master.

He saw Teez, clawing his way out of a swarm of Wyverns.

The Mantis looked ahead and noticed that the horde of wyverns was only getting larger. More and more were still coming.

Making a decision, the Mantis stopped its front leg in the ground and dashed down the side of the arkship.

It wasn’t the only one, thousands of praying mantises began to rush out of the arkship, scaling the rocky terrain and closing the distance between them and their masters in the blink of an eye.

Down below, once Olivia saw that the Praying Mantises had come out, she smiled and faced her front again.

"This is the last stronghold, the last thing to keep the alliance in Draconic Heaven, the last territory that has not been claimed by the lions.

Emperor Zain, bring your sorry scaly ass and bow, or you can fuck off!"

The light in Olivia’s eyes suddenly turned sharp. The power of fortune and fate condensed around her outstretched hand.

Thousands of fate strands began to condense around her outreached hand. The strings of fate streamed over from all corners of the Draconic Heaven, augmented by the Conqueror’s Will.

*SNAP!*

Olivia snapped her fingers.
