Chapter 934: Chapter 934: Father In-Law
As Teez fought the wyverns, he transformed into his true lion form, cruising through the midst of these lower reptiles.
His claws flashed through, cutting through their scales easily. He would throw out a bit of ice to one side, spit out some lightning to the other side.
And then in some cases, he would even conjure some frozen lightning, dealing an incredible amount of damage.
His Consorts swam through the battlefield gracefully. They were taking out the much stronger ones, leaving the slightly weaker and numerous ones for Teez and the newly arrived mantis army.
This was intentional and Teez knew it.
He had to learn situational awareness and gain the ability to command and project power on the battlefield.
For someone who had never gone on the standard planet-conquering rite of passage and was expected to do so after the war, this was very crucial for him.
Being powerful was not enough, he had to know how to use the power that he had.
Alas, just as Teez was clawing through the wings of a fallen Wyvern and exuding a large amount of frozen aura, one particular Wyvern up above looked down at him.
It was a blood red wyvern with jagged bony talons, a long neck, and barbaric-looking wings.
Its black eyes locked down on the massive white lion below and came to a decision. The blood red wyvern flapped its wings once, pushing the air behind it and leaning downward for a devastating nose dive.
The wyvern, having the silver sky background behind it, raced to the ground.
Unfortunately, Teez was not going to be able to defend against this suicidal dive. He was occupied from all sides by the onslaught of other wyverns and didn’t see this one coming from above.
By the time Teez sensed the presence of this particular wyvern coming from above, it was too late.
*BOOM!*
The wyvern shot down faster than the speed of sound, crushing the air around it.
However, before those outstretched talons could pierce into Teez’s white back, another creature slammed into it from the side.
*BAM!*
The sound of metal and flesh colliding was heard as a shockwave swept through the local battlefield.
Teez, the supposed target of that attack, was shocked and the air pressure slammed into his back.
Although the shockwave barely made him budge, he still felt the force of what would have happened if he had actually been hit.
His mane ruffled in the artificial wind, looking around to see that most of the wyverns attacking him were now being taken care of by his army of Praying Mantises.
He then looked at the perpetrators of the ambush and those who had been saved in time.
The Chief Mantis, leader of the Mantis crew that was subordinated to King Teez. It was he who had saved Teez.
His metal mantis blades flashed, cutting into the side and neck of the crimson red wyvern.
The two big eyes of the Chief Mantis were cold and stared down at his victim with no hint of empathy. With a little bit of movement, the piercings were twisted inside the body of the wyvern, causing more damage and accelerating its demise.
Within a few seconds, the wyvern’s eyes stared at the sky, lifeless and absent of all that ferociousness it had before.
"Your Majesty," The Chief Mantis said, stepping away from the scaled carcass and drawing his blades out of the body.
Hot sub dragon blood dropped from its torso and blades, adding to the menacing look it had.
Teez walked up to the Chief Mantis, throwing a glance at the dead wyvern. If he had not been saved just now, he would have probably died.
And maybe, just maybe, he would have to learn what it felt like to die for the first time.
Sick, that was what it sounded like.
"Appreciated," Teez said to the Chief Mantis. He was also learning how to address his subordinates.
Something that Silax and Ozia had very different views about.
Teez narrowed his eyes, paying attention to his tone and facial expression.
Silax had said that treating the vassals with respect was very crucial and that it would help him foster loyalty.
Ozia on the other hand did not give two fucks about being liked or their loyalty. To him, there was no point in them being loyal if they were sure to die if they became disloyal.
Both of them were right, Teez had concluded. As they were more experienced and had seen the results of their way of thinking being manifested in the real world, they had strong convictions.
To Ozia, it was better to be feared and powerful enough to actualize that fear. To Silax, one should at least try to be loved.
However, based on what Teez had observed from his other new friends who had their own clans and vassals, the only thing that mattered was might and power.
Might was right.
Power would determine if one could afford to be kind without reason or tyrannical without mercy.
"It’s an honor, Your Majesty," The Chief Mantis bowed slightly. Because of the structure of their body, the Praying Mantises had trouble bowing.
"Your Majesty, I’m afraid we may have to seek shelter. This is not a scouting force deployed to clear the area. It is the first of an endless wave.
In fact, there may be some dragon commanders showing up very soon.
Your Majesty, what should we do?" The Chief Mantis asked.
His report stunned Teez for a while, then he calmed down. This was expected. Olivia had mentioned that this was exactly what should happen before they had crashed.
This was the last place in the entire Draconic Heaven that the allied forces still had one hundred percent control.
The fact that they were sending wyverns out first did not mean they were weak, they were just conserving their strength because they knew the final battle was about to arrive.
With that thought in mind, Teez looked to Olivia who had been standing still all this while and her hand stretched out in front of her.
She snapped her fingers.
Teez had heard that crisp sound of fingers being snapped. The funny feeling of being the main character of a movie started to rise up within him.
It felt like he had the lions who were the center and darling of all creation and all evolution. It was a feeling of being part of an inevitable force.
Just then...
"EMPEROR ZAIN!"
A deafening roar descended from the heavens, crushing the rocks and pushing the crashed arkship deeper into the ground.
The golden wave that followed after was fabulous and amazing. Immediately, the silver sky was corrupted by a sickening and majestic mix of gold and silver.
It was like the arrival of the king of all heavens and earth. The ruler of all that exists, will exist, and has not yet had the chance to exist.
Power surged through Teez’s veins as his blood heated up, boiling to thousands of degrees in a few seconds.
Teez’s eyes flashed with uncontrollable power and he had the urge to roar to the skies.
He looked up at the newly transformed sky and saw something that made his bones shiver.
His Father In-law, the All-King.
A golden lion, a face so ferocious that Teez felt like running. His body filled Teez’s vision and was only getting bigger and bigger in his sight.
Just as Teez recognized the golden lion, the All-King had already slammed headfirst into the amalgamation of continents.
A void-breaking explosion and earthquake shook the ground they were standing on. Teez, Victoria, Raychel, and many mantises were blasted away.
Even the arkship was blasted out of its fissure, on my dripping back to the rocky ground a few hundred thousand kilometers away because of the gravity.
And this was just the start.
When Teez landed back on the ground, using his ice powers to cushion his fall, he discovered that Olivia was standing in their midst. Surprisingly, despite being flung away so hard and far, none of them were hurt that much.
Only a few injuries on the side of the mantises. Olivia, as usual, was completely unscathed by anything that was happening.
She was even smiling, acting as if it was exactly what she wanted. For her beloved to crash this party.
After all, Teez and his Consorts might be strong but compared to what she and her pride sisters were used to experiencing with the All-King, all they were doing with the wyverns was not even worth talking about.
It was literally child’s play to her.
The real deal was the arrival of the All-King, or rather, his clones.
Yes, clones.
Teez only needed to look up to the sky to see a scenery that made his heart drop to the bottom of his stomach.
There were more of them.
More clones of the All-King. Each of them was equally as colossal as the first and all of them were speeding to this place faster than the speed of light, their dark golden gaze shining with regal determination.
Shattering all resistance, the end of the Great Creation Dragon Empire had arrived.
How melancholic.
