Chapter 960: Chapter 960: Undead Assets
[Welcome to Grave Heaven...]
Kael glanced at the golden screen that held the automated message hanging from its pane.
Grave Heaven, formerly known as the Nether Heaven.
One of the first heavenly realms to fall to the overwhelming might of the lions after the conquest of the Creation Dragons.
As Kael took his first step on the grounds of this realm, he reminisced about the hype that occurred during the invasion of this realm.
Before this realm was conquered, back when it was still considered the Nether Heaven.
Back then, a lot of things had not yet happened. All the lions knew about this realm was the existence of a Primordial that was also affiliated with the Law of Death, just like Marcus.
This created a double-layered intent for those who desperately wanted to invade the heavenly realm.
Although many lions simply saw the Nether Heaven as real estate waiting to be seized, others saw it as an opportunity for expansion and growth.
Back then, the main occupants of the Nether Heaven were the race known as the Carrion Beetles.
A fierce race that stood on equal ground with the bees at their peak.
They were fierce, they were violent, and they definitely knew how to use the power of death to their advantage.
In fact, the Carrion Beetles had a whole section of their race that focused on using the undead in their business and military sectors.
It was very unfortunate that the Carrion Beetles were never destined to exist the moment Kael’s forces set their sights on them.
It was a stressful battle, indeed it was, but it was a massacre nonetheless.
Just because the Carrion Beetles had been able to fight back and kill a lot of lions did not delay their fate for a single second.
They were crushed, utterly.
True genocide was impossible but the Carrion Beetles were literally wiped out from every corner of the Nether Heaven.
They had to be. The lions had become the very embodiment of an unstoppable force.
How many immortals did they have now? How many were becoming immortals every day? How many arkships did a single king have at his command? How many cubs were being born every day?
Placed side by side, the Carrion Beetles were just no match. The lions had rushed into the Nether Heaven, their claws blazing and their fangs shining as they tore apart the rotten carapace of their enemies.
To make matters worse, the lions were just one of the forces that were involved in the downfall of the Carrion Beetle civilization. The wolves and the vultures played serious roles too.
For the vultures, it was understandable. Marcus was the Primordial of Death and for a long time, he had been unable to get to the Singularity status simply because there was another Primordial affiliated with the law of death with him.
The fall of the Carrion Beetles would equal the rise of the vultures and allow them to have a Primordial that was also a Singularity.
For the wolves on the other hand, it was way more complicated. Ever since Howl Heaven had been gifted to the wolves, the master of Wolfkind had taken a hands-off approach for the entire wolf race.
As the hunters they were, Ralph couldn’t be directing and regulating every single hunting mission that they had. He too had his own duties and private Pack to attend to.
Instead, with a certified heavenly base of operations, the rate of hunting missions exploded.
Naturally, most of them were given hunting missions from lions who were interested in invading the Nether Heaven.
Ralph, the master of Wolfkind himself, was tasked with assisting Marcus in finding and eliminating the Primordial Carrion Beetle.
The heavenly battle, as intense as it had been, creating mystical phenomena, barely lasted more than a month.
It was only after the battle was cleared that Nether Heaven was officially named Grave Heaven.
The tombstones and graves that dotted the land of this realm were not there simply to add to the aesthetics and theme of the Law of Death.
No, the tombstones were there for a reason, each built over the buried corpse of an enemy...
The lions, with their vassals, were getting dangerously good at the conquest of this scale.
*Sigh!*
Kael sighed as he walked over the dirt land. Around him, the grey tombstones had been erected silently, like a forest of concrete.
"Marcus," Kael spoke into the world softly. His voice was carried by the winds of Grave Heaven and transported to every corner of the realm almost immediately.
And then... he waited.
Fortunately, the All-King didn’t have to wait for more than a single second as the one he called answered almost immediately.
"Your Majesty," A voice resonated from the space in front of Kael as a tall lanky man with grey skin and black eyes appeared from a cloud of dark smoke.
The man was Marcus, the ruler of this world that had been shaped ruthlessly by death.
Marcus had changed. Physically, his humanoid form was still the same, but his aura was much deeper and vaster.
He was more powerful, more...singular.
He personified death in every way.
Marcus, wearing black robes, went down on one knee and bowed his head to the All-King who looked down at him with a gaze of indifference.
"This is the first time you are visiting Grave Heaven since it was acquired," Marcus said, "How can I be of service to you, Your Majesty?"
Marcus was infinitely grateful for the help he had gotten from Kael and the rest of the League of Primordials.
Without them, he wouldn’t be as strong as he is right now. Looking back at his clueless beginnings with Kael on Eridoria, they had come a long way indeed.
Kael looked down at Marcus with an observant gaze.
"Are these tombstones all markers for the enemies?" Kael asked, his brows forming a perfect line.
Marcus nodded his head in confirmation, "Yes, Your Majesty. Every single corpse of the Carrion Beetles that could be preserved has been turned into undead assets and kept in these graves for the time they are needed.
And as you requested at that time, even the corpses of our own allies and lions have been buried here to be turned into undead assets," Marcus said.
"As it should be," Kael stated, his deep voice instantly crushing the deathly aura around him, a result of him harbouring a little bit of anticipation.
"Even in death, all must serve The Conquering," the All-King added.
Marcus nodded, agreeing with the All-King’s logic.
Kael took in a deep breath, "Well then, gather the vultures, gather the undead, the time to serve has come upon us."
Marcus’s black eyes brimmed with a dark light of excitement, "As you wish, Your Majesty."
