Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 966: Grave Keepers And GraveyardsSeth had seen the first attack and explosion which was why he had held off on opening his Alphaverse at that moment.
Whereas others thought it was an ambush, Seth had seen it clearly from his own angle and knew it was a bold and blatant attack. It was a well-calculated action designed to strike fear in the hearts of all those who saw it.
It was a normal miscalculation on the part of the feline Assembly. After all, the attacker had made a powerful and attention-grabbing move before suddenly disappearing.
It looked like an ambush but it truly wasn't.
Why would a mid-tier immortal Metal Vulture need to ambush anything, especially this kind of vulture that wouldn't take this kind of action if not approved by the All-King?
The All-King.
That name alone was enough for Seth to hold back all intentions of opening the Alphaverse for his father.
And then, just when Zayna had killed that Metal Vulture, it was like a hornet's nest had been poked.
No one had expected that the vulture would die so quickly after initiating the conflict, not even the vulture.
Those who had been watching, those who had been waiting, those who had sent him, had seen their colleague get cut in half by that one known as Zayna.
The reaction was swift and violent. Like bows that had been pulled to their limits, they fired off from their hidden spots in the spatial folds.
Thousands of vultures appeared in the midst of the slow-moving fleet, spreading their wings and initiating a series of attacks.
At the center of it all, Marcus arrived. His wings blanketed the whole region like a vast mattress of black smoke. His pale bird head was very striking in the midst of all the sudden commotion.
What was most terrifying was the look in his eyes, it was a look filled with the promise of vengeance as well as a desire to complete his mission.
Marcus's eyes locked onto the body of one of his generals, his gaze sharp and filled with regret.
That was one of his most promising and loyal subordinates, someone who had been with him from the time he left Eridoria with the All-King.
This was someone whom he had watched rise and get more powerful, someone whom he had given political power to help him manage the vulture race.
That same Metal Vulture had been one of the first to join the elite army of Grave Keepers after the Grave Heaven was established.
He knew that everyone would die one day but he never expected that this close friend of his would die in such a manner.
Another absolutely infuriating thing was that the Metal Vulture never got to show the true power of a Grave Keeper. Having the power over metal was just his main power; he, like all other Grave Keepers, had been blessed by the power of death so that they could carry out their duty to the Primordial Vulture.
The Metal Vulture didn't even get to use his new set of special powers that they had been training for.
A bummer indeed.
When Marcus's dark gaze settled on the body of his dead subordinate, he also saw Zayna and the Luthor Patriarch.
He recognized them, how could he not? They were among the first to run away during the battle for Draconic Heaven, abandoning Emperor Zain at the vicious claws of the All-King.
Their images, as well as the images of every supreme-level immortal in the feline Assembly, were burned solid into the mist of most wanted.
The only thing stopping Marcus from charging at them right now was that he wasn't stupid. He too was a Mid-Level Immortal Tier entity, and although he was also a Primordial, that wouldn't save him if Zayna and the Luthor Patriarch wanted to kill him right now.
Not to mention there were other Supreme Level Immortals coming over very soon. This fleet of the cats was just the vanguard, others were going to come and they were all heading straight for Seth's visible Alphaverse.
Marcus was here on a very important mission.
He wouldn't and couldn't forget that.
In that split moment, he leveraged the confusion that was being abused from all the Grave Keepers suddenly appearing out of spatial folds and attacking everything in their surroundings.
"Now!" Marcus ordered. It was a very important order that would ensure that no one else died for nothing. And it was also an order that would see their enemies experience the first horror of necromancy.
Suddenly, dark portals opened up behind every vulture that had appeared. It did not matter if a few of them were Immortals or that most of them were tier 7 or 6, all of them had a portal appearing behind them.
Some were even in the middle of a battle when it happened, smashing beak-first into the side of an arkship and coming out through the other side when a portal appeared in the middle of all that violence.
And each and every one of these portals was not the same.
They all led to the Grave Heaven, obviously, but it wasn't a portal designed for transportation.
To be a Grave Keeper, being extremely strong was not enough, they also had to be politically close to the Primordial Vulture.
The Grave Heaven had turned into a realm filled with graves and tombstones. Although it was partially influenced by the All-King's plans, Marcus had capitalized heavily on the theme and built around it.
When it came to giving out territory to his loyal subordinates, he did not give them vassals or cities to manage, no.
They were not like the lions who needed such territory, and they were not like the wolves who needed hunting fields, or the bees who needed hives.
The kind of territory Marcus gave them was called Graveyards. Each Grave Keeper was given a graveyard to manage and own.
Naturally, these Graveyards contained the graves of fallen creatures who had long been corrupted by the power of death.
Hence the term, Grave Keeper. Grave Keepers were to the vultures what Kings were to the lions.
One could only imagine the kind of sick and twisted warfare Kael had planned when he supported the creation of the Grave Keepers and directed them straight for Seth's Alphaverse.
They were all about to find out.
