A short time before the arrival of the dungeon guardian construct, the group of adventurers who found themselves facing off against the seemingly endless swarm of mole gnolls surging towards them were not discouraged by the constant attacks of the mole gnolls.
"Good job everyone! We are doing well, just a little more and these mole gnolls will run away in fear after realizing they can’t deal with us."
On the contrary, the leader of the adventurer group was rather positive about the current state of things. Knowing from experience that while mole gnolls would normally never stop their attack, there was an exception to everything and in the case of the mole gnolls, this exception was them running into an enemy far stronger than them.
And currently, they fit this exception perfectly, as none of them had fallen nor even suffered serious injuries to the mole gnolls- or maybe more importantly, they had the ability to kill them and render their main strength of hiding underground useless.
The only thing that worried the leader and the rest of the adventurers was the loud sound of battle that continued echoing out from behind the bathhouse. Having no clue what was happening back there outside the fact that whatever had broken through their magical traps had ended up being held back by the local inhabitants of the bathhouse, something that in their eyes might not last for long given how clearly determined the other party was to break through.
If possible, they wanted to finish the battle with the mole gnolls as fast as possible before rushing to the backside of the bathhouse to lend the bath spirits and bath water elemental that should be locked in battle a hand. After all, they had managed to establish a friendly relationship with these kind spirits that never harmed anyone unless provoked.
RUUUUMBLE-!
And it was while they were fully focused on dealing with the mole gnolls that a loud rumbling sound echoed out behind them following the sound of something flying over-
BANG!
Only hearing the loud sound of something slamming into a large object before something massive began descending towards them through the darkness.
"Huh...? The- the dungeon guardian construct!?"
And it was only at that moment that the group of adventurers realized that the thing descending towards was none other than the dungeon guardian construct that had seemingly been knocked over and was now threatening to squash them.
"Wha-! GET AWAY!"
"YOU DON’T SAY SO! EVERYONE AVOID GETTING CRUSHED!"
"MOOOOVE!"
Understandably, they all began panicking and scrambling to get out of the way before being turned into pancakes by the massive dungeon guardian construct that was more than heavy enough to crush powerful adventurers like them.
BAAAAANG-!
And as the dungeon guardian construct slammed into the ground. Knocking up a small cloud of dust and debris in the process, the group of adventurers had just barely managed to throw themselves out of the way before they were crushed alive, something that the mole gnolls caught within the range of the falling dungeon guardian construct couldn’t say, as they were turned into perfectly flat mole gnoll pancakes. None of them had the time to escape underground before they were crushed alive.
Of course, not because they were slow to escape underground, but more so because they didn’t realize the danger they were in before it was too late. Only watching in bewilderment as the adventurers suddenly began yelling out loud before fleeing in a panic.
Only at the very last second did they realize why the adventurers had been flying, but by then it had been far too late for them to follow in the footsteps of the adventurers.
Ruuumble~
Unaware of the large number of mole gnolls that ended up perishing thanks to it tripping over a small hole in the ground as the greater bath spirit crashed into it, the dungeon guardian construct didn’t even bother to look at the adventurers that had scattered around it. Instead focusing its full attention on the enraged greater bath spirit as it got back up and found itself face to face with this unexpected enemy.
Originally, it had just been informed by the dungeon core that the necromancer targeting its master, the dungeon core, had appeared. Setting out to kill this enemy of its master.
Unexpectedly, the necromancer seemed to have somehow recruited a powerful ally that caught it completely off guard and knocked it down before it even had the chance to fight back- or that was at least how the dungeon guardian construct saw the greater bath spirit. Viewing it as an ally of the necromancer, something that couldn’t be farther from the truth given how the two had been fighting just seconds earlier.
Whoosh-!
As for the greater bath spirit, it didn’t comprehend much of what was happening and just viewed the dungeon guardian construct as the bigger threat after seeing how much it had ended up damaging the bathhouse. Giving up on the necromancer that was now the lesser threat in the face of the dungeon guardian construct. Rushing forth with great momentum towards the dungeon guardian construct that had just gotten back up on its feet.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Soon enough, engaging in a deadly exchange with the dungeon guardian construct that had no real way to deal with the greater bath spirit.
Not only was it a unique spirit that couldn’t be influenced by the dungeon core itself, but it also happened to be immune to physical damage. Making it hard for even the dungeon guardian construct that surpassed the SS Rank to deal with, something the group of adventures now watching the chaotic fight playing out between the greater bath spirit and the dungeon guardian construct saw firsthand.
"Wait- who was the enemy that this bath spirit clashed with not long ago? With it gone, isn’t the bathhouse exposed?" Watching the battle together with the other adventurers, one of them realized that the battle behind the bathhouse had come to an end with the greater bath spirit starting its battle with the dungeon guardian construct. Along with the fact that whatever monster the greater bath spirit had clashed with earlier now had free access to the bathhouse...
Boom! BOOM!
And following the rest hearing what he said, several loud explosions far more intense compared to the earlier magical explosion could be heard echoing out from inside the bathhouse. Drawing the attention of not just the adventurers, but also the greater bath spirit who saw the cataclysmic damage these magical explosions caused to the bathhouse itself.
But... Maybe more importantly than that, the explosion that ended up destroying a good part of the bathhouse also ended up exposing the interior of the bathhouse and the one triggering those explosions in her attempt to force her way through the final layer of defense that the group of adventurers had set up around the exit leading out of the dungeon.
"That-! The necromancer!"
"Stop her! We can’t let her escape!"
"Contact the senior immediately, we have to get him here so he can chase her down!"
And the second that the group of adventurers saw the one behind all the chaos, they immediately started panicking before rushing forth to stop her from escaping while one remained behind trying to contact the senior for help.
Even the greater bath spirit that had just clashed with the dungeon guardian construct shifted its attention back towards the little necromancer that had once again become the priority target. Following which the dungeon guardian construct froze for a brief second before spotting its original target trying to escape. Not caring about anything else as it quickly followed the rest in rushing towards the escaping necromancer that found herself suddenly being targeted by three powerful forces at once- no, not three, but four, as the mole gnolls somehow staged a comeback and joined the three powerful factions in charging at her.
"This... I swear if I get out of this alive, I will never enter a dungeon under the control of the guild again! Damnable adventurers! Even teaming up with the local dungeon monsters!" Cursing to herself at the terrifying sight, she didn’t dare slow down. Urging the bone construct beneath he to disregard any damage it suffered to rush forward towards the exit.
The magical traps taking their toll, but ultimately, the foundation of the bone construct was that of a monster that had surpassed the SS Rank. Even in a damaged state, it still possessed terrifying durability.
Enduring one magical explosion after the other while keeping its fast speed.
But...
Craack~!
In the end, it reached its limits just before getting to the-
"Throw meeee!
Whoosh-!
Not that she allowed this to slow her down. Having already decided to give up on the bone construct, she instructed it to use its last remaining strength to throw her forward towards the exit leading out of the dungeon. Sending her flying at great speed towards the door just as her enemies were upon her...
