As she sent out the message, Kalli realized that she didn’t have to go to the Arks. She had access to their systems, and she could simply send them a Kiosk terminal.

At first, she hoped that she could upload it to their computer system so that you could access it from any terminal, but the System was not on board with that level of convenience.

Instead, she simply placed it next to the mess hall on every ark and sent the fleet admiral a message.

{Hey, I sent a bunch of Kiosks to your mess hall. They let everyone turn in quests. Go ahead and just put them wherever it’s convenient for you.}

The string of profanity that left the Fleet Commander’s mouth when he realized that Kalli had simply decided that they needed a quest turn in location in the single highest traffic location on the entire Arc was enough to bring security running, thinking that something had happened.

"That damnable woman just keeps hacking into the ship. How did she even know where to drop those terminals? She’s got to have a full floor plan, and she’s likely got a traffic map too, since she dropped it in front of the busiest public cafeteria, not the officers’ or the one near the heroes’ training area."

The security staff chuckled as they realized what had happened.

"Ah, our apologies, Admiral. Would you like it moved?"

"No, keep it there. Until we can switch to locally grown food, most of the residents are still stuck on primarily nutrient paste and tuber soup diets. Now, we need to get some of our people out on patrol, the same as the Coordinator has done.

It hasn’t officially merged our fleet with her city yet, and we need to put in the work to make sure that we don’t end up getting shafted on the controlled territory part of the Trial requirement."

"Should we ask her to sell us some hovercraft? Our heroes earned plenty of points working the guns," the security officer suggested.

The Fleet Admiral sighed. "Dammit, I’m going to have to go begging her for a loan, aren’t I?

If my guess is right, those things are going to be more than a thousand points each, and we still need to equip our heroes. But they’re not getting enough experience gain from killing with the ships’ guns.

We will have to move the heroes off the Arks, to have them fight with the rest of the Marimgar heroes.

The smaller Arks have already done it, and the baseline growth they have experienced is far beyond what our men saw. If we keep the heroes on board, they’re going to fall too far behind."

The security officers could appreciate the pressure that the man was under. Everything that he wanted to do required either a major change of process, or begging someone else for help. That was hard on the pride as a high-ranking official.

The security officer tapped his fingers on the wall as he stared at the information screens in the Admiral’s office.

"I must say, she really went all out making new apartments for the residents this time. That’s almost a proper little city that she’s made there.

I don’t know how cramped the apartments she’s making for them are, but I suspect that she could move everyone off those Arks without any real issues at this point. And there are so many guns.

I know that she’s a bit paranoid, but what is she expecting to attack them?

You can’t even aim at the ground with anything but the outer ring of rooftop guns, the rest are only good for air defence. She’s not expecting us to get attacked by an airforce, is she?

The thought of the pure firepower that the city could turn on a flying opponent made them laugh. It wouldn’t even be a fight. They would just fill the sky with plasma explosions like it was a Liberty Day fireworks show.

Kalli had realized the same thing.

But it wasn’t too late to make some minor changes to the buildings. The system would let her make changes at will, and it just took a bit of time for the building to update.

As she was working on the defence plan, she realized that the outer buildings blocked the firing lines from all the inner ones, and she had given too many buildings {Air Defence Battery} emplacements.

At the time she was only thinking of uniformity and the city plan.

But if she just staggered the city, it should be fine. The buildings in the inner rows would get an extra few floors if they had a defensive emplacement. Then, they could aim down at the walls without hitting the buildings further from the core.

If she did that, then only the Academy buildings would be too low, and restricted to firing upwards.

That was good enough for her, as they would be able to fire at enemies at the inner wall as well if things got that bad. Not that they would willingly do that, when the explosion was a hundred metres across, and would level a building in one shot.

It was not missed that she was adjusting the buildings, or that they were now generating a unique city skyline of staggered buildings designed entirely to maximize firepower.

It looked like a regular city to the untrained eye.

Well, a regular city if it was mass-produced a thousand years in the future of Marimgar, but now the buildings did have their own character, even if it was just a little bit.

When she had increased the height of the buildings, the System had optimized them, and the upper floors were created without balconies, which gave the taller ones a unique profile. It made it slightly less obvious that they were all virtually identical, with only slight differences because Kalli let the system randomly assign apartment designs, which altered the exterior profiles of the buildings.
