Josinia’s glossy nose sniffed the air a few times, taking in the scent.

She moved around the rooftops trying to get a better look at her surroundings.

"Everything is so... different."

Meanwhile, Kalon watched from the sidelines, lost in his own thoughts.

I need to be careful... If she’s spotted, that will bring a lot of troubles. Luckily it’s midnight.

Still, I won’t let he travel any further than the rooftops today just to play it safe.

He continued to allow Josinia to take her in her surroundings and turned his attentions towards something else.

His system.

He had progressed in many ways, and also had the gifts waiting for him from his completed quest.

First was his Pendant of Skill Weakening. The effects of the item had already been placed inside of his body, but now it had manifested into a physical item.

Kalon opened his palm. A simple black pendant formed there, attached to a short, dull chain.

The stone in the centre was dark grey and matte, with no shine or decoration. When he closed his fingers around it he felt the connection settle.

The system confirmed what he already knew. He could now freely lower the rank of any skill he owned, scaling its power down to whatever level he chose while keeping the original version available when he needed full strength.

What he realised it would also do, is shorten the cooldown of the skill used, as well as the mana used. Therefore, he could weaken skills like Crown of Heaven, and still be able to use it more than once a day.

He slipped the chain over his head and let the pendant rest against his chest. It was light enough that he almost forgot it was there.

Still, he tucked it into his clothing in order to avoid questions being asked by others.

Afterwards he turned his attention to the remaining rewards.

The new affinity came next.

A cold, heavy sensation started at the centre of his chest and spread outward.

It was nothing like the warm clarity of light or the solid weight of earth. This felt deeper, quieter, and denser, as if something was filling the empty spaces between his thoughts and his bones.

The system text appeared cleanly in his vision.

「Affinity Awakened: Darkness」

「Mental Trait Unlocked: Umbral Will」

He wasn’t given a choice this time, as the system chose his affinity for him. It was as though he was being directed towards this choice.

Umbral Will.

The name of the mental trait settled into his mind alongside Radiant Soul.

Where Radiant Soul felt like a steady internal light that refused to ever be put out, Umbral Will felt like it was the one that wanted to do the putting out. It was a stubborn, absorbing calmness that constantly tried to fight against the light.

It did not push outward. It pulled inward and made everything in his body feel like it had gone still. Even his heartbeat felt like it was no longer there.

Kalon stood still on the rooftop and focused on the new presence inside him.

Having both Light and Darkness in the same body should have been impossible.

Every basic theory he had ever heard said the two affinities cancelled each other out or tore the user apart.

Yet the two forces did not clash inside of him. They sat in separate layers.

The light remained bright and sharp in the upper part of his chest and behind his eyes. The darkness settled lower and deeper, heavy and quiet, filling the spaces the light did not reach.

In the places where they did meet each other, they met as equals. It was as though they had naturally come to an agreement that Kalon’s body was a home for both of them, whether they liked it or not.

When he breathed, he could feel both of them move without grinding against each other. It was uncomfortable at first, but it was not painful, and he would soon adapt. At the moment, It simply felt like his body had become a place that should not exist.

He exhaled slowly and let the system finish the last reward.

「SSS+ Rank Passive Skill Acquired」

[(SSS+) Black Sun Corpus]

~ Type: Darkness

~ Passive/Semi-Active

~ Any ray of light that touches the host is partially converted into darkness energy and stored.

~ Stored darkness can be released at will as a short-range burst that erodes skills, barriers, and regenerative effects on contact.

~ The more light the host absorbs, the denser and more corrosive the stored darkness becomes.

~ If enough darkness is stored and released, contact with the attack can result in absolute erasure.

Kalon read the description.

Black Sun Corpus.

The skill turned his body into a trap for light itself.

Simply by existing and walking beneath the sun, Kalon stored strength.

The stored darkness did not sit quietly either. It became something that ate away at other people’s skills and healing on contact.

Not only that, but if he released enough darkness, he could erase something completely...

He closed the system screens with satisfaction and looked over at Josinia.

She was still moving along the edge of the rooftop, white hair shifting in the night wind as she looked down at the academy grounds.

She had not noticed the changes that had just taken place inside him.

Kalon let the new affinity settle a little longer.

The dual presence of light and darkness continued to sit inside his body without tearing anything apart.

It felt wrong according to every rule he knew, and yet it was becoming more comfortable with every passing second.

That fact alone told him the Space Seducer System had pushed him past the normal limits of what an awakened was supposed to be able to hold.

After a while, he started walking toward Josinia.

There was still more of Earth he wanted to show her, but he knew that he couldn’t. Not yet.

"We should start heading back now." He told her.

The woman pouted her lip sadly.

She didn’t want to leave him, ever.
