Thea kept her mouth shut and paid close attention to Kalon.

First, though, he raised a finger.

"After I show you this... I want you to try and hit me. I’m not going to fight back. All I’m going to do is evade."

Thea’s head tilted to the side like she was hearing something crazy.

"Kalon, your ability to evade isn’t exactly your strong point... unless you’re going to use that defensive skill you used last time."

Kalon smiled and shook his head.

"Not quite."

Afterwards, he took in a deep breath and focused.

"Alright, let’s begin..."

He activated the SSS-Rank Radiance Skill, Crown of Heaven.

Kalon closed his eyes for a brief moment, drawing in a steady breath as radiant energy surged through his veins.

A brilliant golden light erupted from the crown of his head, swirling into an ethereal crown that materialised and hovered just above his hair.

It glowed with divine light, intricate patterns of golden energy weaving across its surface.

The air around him grew warm and charged, as if the very atmosphere had been blessed by some higher power.

A god, maybe.

His posture straightened instinctively, his muscles filling with newfound strength and vitality.

Thea’s eyes widened in awe and disbelief.

"That... it can’t be," she whispered, watching the crown pulse gently.

Kalon’s presence felt transformed. He felt lighter, sharper, and almost untouchable.

Where even his minor movements had once carried E-rank agility, the skill’s effect flooded him with a boost equivalent to leaping ten sub-tiers higher.

He now possessed B-rank agility.

It might not have been the highest that I could be, but feeling the difference of ten sub-tiers was like swapping bodies completely.

"Kalon... isn’t that a Light Affinity?"

Thea’s whispered words carried across the field as she continued to stare at him. Her eyes were wide, and her mouth hung open.

Kalon couldn’t help but smile. He wondered what he looked like to her at that moment.

"It is," he eventually responded, as if he were speaking about something casual.

"How...? A dual affinity is unheard of for first-years."

It was partially true.

A dual affinity was unheard of for this generation of first-years in the United Kingdoms.

In the United States, Asia, and some other European countries however, a first-year with two affinities was still the standard, and wouldn’t be enough on its own to get them into the second year.

At the Academy of Systems, however, once they found out about Kalon’s second affinity, they would certainly advance him to the next year.

Especially considering it was an affinity to light.

Kalon shrugged his shoulders, the timer on his skill slowly draining.

"Maybe it’s the system blessing the bullied," he said. "Now come on. This skill doesn’t last forever. Come at me."

Thea didn’t react immediately. She was still busy trying to process what was going on.

After a few moments, she shook her head to clear her thoughts.

Then she charged.

Kalon stood calmly as she approached, which was when he realised something.

It seemed that since his agility had been enhanced, he also found it easier to react to the agility of others.

Usually, Thea looked much faster.

Now, she actually looked slow.

She stepped into range, throwing a series of punches, all rapid and aimed at different spots on Kalon’s body.

He dodged them all, albeit somewhat clumsily.

A jab followed by a straight were both avoided with left and right head movements.

A roundhouse kick aimed at his stomach was dodged by stepping backwards with graceful speed.

A follow-up leg sweep was jumped over with ease.

Thea tried to throw an uppercut kick to his chin before he landed, but Kalon lifted his hand in time to swat the attack away.

A golden light blinked between his hand and her foot where he had blocked the attack.

Thea winced, sliding backwards along the grass. It was clear that she felt some sort of pain in her foot.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

"Yeah... It just burns, but in a strange way. It’s like the light doesn’t need to touch my skin or increase the temperature. It gets through everything and burns my insides directly."

So that’s how it works.

Kalon discovered that while fire physically burned an object, light slipped past flesh and armour alike, striking deeper and burning the mana pathways and nerves beneath instead of scorching the skin.

That explained why Thea’s foot looked completely unharmed, yet she was still grimacing.

A normal flame would leave blisters, while light left almost nothing visible.

But the pain was real, of course.

Kalon flexed his fingers, watching faint golden particles drift from his hand before fading into the air.

"I like this affinity," he said to himself.

"I’m sure you do," Thea responded.

Then she charged again.

The pair sparred for the ten minutes that Crown of Heaven lasted.

During that time, Thea never landed a direct hit on Kalon.

There were numerous times when he failed to dodge her attacks and had to use parts of his body to block them, but that still left him unharmed, with his health remaining at its original maximum.

The only time he was forced to use another one of his skills was when Thea finally activated Water Boulder.

He had almost forgotten that she had a water affinity, as she had chosen not to use it until then.

The boulder almost dropped on top of him, and it seemed even larger than last time.

It would surely do a lot of damage.

So he used Astral Counter to absorb the strike into his body and take the force as his own.

By the end of the ten minutes, Thea sat down on the grass, out of breath.

Kalon looked down at her, hardly tired at all.

This was because his stamina was currently at B-rank due to his SSS-rank passive, Daily Blessing.
