Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 299: _Baiting ExtinctionCRUNCH.
BOOOOOMMMM!
Tens of towering buildings were either reduced to dust or completely erased when the Void Entity and Devourer clashed again.
For the first time since escaping the Echo Rift... it felt challenged.
Before now, its objective had been isolating the anomaly known as Ambrose Hale. A soul that had no business in this universe.
Now it was faced with something conceptually twisted. A being that devours absolutely whenever it pleases, providing no actual balance to the laws of creation and destruction.
BOOM!
The Devourer sent a tentacle at it, slamming the Void Entity through hundreds of meters of the city’s floor. But the Void Entity regained its footing, its spiralling black hole head twisting faster.
"Parasite," it hissed, arms buckling tight around the massive tentacle. "Your time in this universe—"
ZRRRRKKKKK!
A massive pillar of silver and emerald energy shot into the crimson skies just then. The Void Entity and even the Devourer paused, turning their attention there.
It was happening right in front of the Purple Rift.
[WARNING: Two Extinction-level entities are looking in this direction.]
Ambrose subconsciously held his breath when he caught the Void Entity staring at the energy pillar. "We’ve got their attention, guys!"
The source of the pillar was none other than the combined energy of the elves and their Queen. They held hands in a circle, the Queen chanting as she channelled their energies into her already overwhelming aether.
[I have to remind you that this is a terrible idea and I was never in support of it.]
’And I’ve gotta remind you that you never gave me any ideas to begin with.’ Ambrose clutched the Black key, carefully putting on the Black mask. ’Let’s get this over with.’
"Hey, wannabe Outer god!" He yelled out with everything in him, spreading out his arms as he approached them. "Remember me, right? You really want to waste your time on that thing when you finally have me cornered?"
The Void Entity’s head tilted. "Your ploys won’t work on me, otherworlder." Its voice carried through most of the city. "I will get back to you in—"
It was cut off by the Devourer’s sky-rending roar. Its tentacles pulled back into the planet’s crust. Gradually, sections of the ground erupted like a moving shell, heading straight for the Elves.
"Shit." Trinity cursed behind Ambrose. "It’s working. It’s following after another powerful life source to... to eat."
"Guide Ambrose, are you sure you can do this?" Another Hunter placed a hand on his shoulder. "How exactly are you going to... open a portal door large enough to contain those monsters?"
"Yeah," yet another chimed. "He’s gonna get obliterated in seconds. Tops."
Ambrose ignored them.
His shadow stretched inconceivably behind him as he called on one undead he could trust by his side.
’Beherath. Awaken.’
The orc king emerged silently from his shadow, his robes flowing around him like clouds made out of midnight. He stomped his halberd once, those ivory tusks grinding in preparation for his master’s orders.
Trinity’s pupils blew wide, her lips trembling as she dragged her gaze back to Ambrose’s back.
"H-How did you—"
"I’d run for my life if I were you." Ambrose glanced over his shoulder one last time before signalling Beherath to teleport him.
For one second, Ambrose stood beside the Hunters.
The next—space folded around him.
A violent distortion swallowed his body before spitting him back into existence hundreds of meters away.
Directly behind the Devourer.
The sheer size of it stole every ounce of breath from his lungs.
Its flesh wasn’t flesh at all. Countless writhing mouths opened and closed across its colossal body, each large enough to swallow buildings whole. Black tendrils dragged across shattered streets as they surged toward the brilliant pillar of aether the elves had created.
Basically... toward food.
"If ’ugly’ had a physical description..." Ambrose whispered.
The Devourer didn’t even acknowledge him, only accelerating toward the pillar.
Behind him, panic finally overtook the Hunters.
"RUN!" Trinity was already dragging two stunned Hunters backwards.
The remaining elves scattered with equal urgency while the Elven Princess rushed toward her mother.
The Queen remained rooted in place, raising both hands.
Ancient elven runes ignited beneath her feet.
Thousands upon thousands of emerald vines erupted from the ruined streets, each thicker than ancient trees. They drilled deep into the planet’s crust before weaving together into a living wall that stretched hundreds of meters high.
Roots anchored themselves into bedrock. Branches intertwined until the sun’s light itself disappeared behind them.
The entire city trembled beneath the strain.
It wouldn’t stop the Devourer—but it would buy seconds.
Ambrose looked over one shoulder. "Crap."
The Void Entity had changed course.
Its body floated toward him with horrifying speed, rivers of living darkness unfurling from its form. Wherever those tendrils brushed reality itself, buildings vanished without exploding, the air fractured into black scars, and even space warped as though existence had simply... ceased.
It wasn’t flying anymore. It was erasing the distance between them.
Ambrose thrust the Black Key forward.
Instead of a simple doorway, reality itself split apart.
A gigantic obsidian door materialised directly before the Queen’s colossal vine wall, so enormous that it reached toward the crimson heavens. Beyond its threshold lay nothing but endless darkness and distant stars from an entirely different universe.
The portal stood perfectly aligned with the Devourer’s charge.
"COME ON!" Ambrose broke into a sprint, straight toward the monster.
Behind him, the Void Entity accelerated. Ahead of him, the Devourer crashed into the vine wall... leaving him sandwiched between two Eldritch horrors.
BOOOOOOOM!
The impact obliterated centuries-old magic.
The vines exploded into splinters. Roots thicker than mountains snapped apart.
Unable to halt its own momentum, the Devourer burst through the collapsing barrier—
—and plunged directly into the enormous portal.
At that same instant, Ambrose reached the doorway. "Oh hell no!"
Beherath slammed a skeletal palm onto his shoulder.
Space folded and in the very next millisecond, Ambrose disappeared. The Void Entity reached the portal a fraction of a second later.
Its spiralling face locked onto the falling Devourer.
It slammed into the beast with enough force to shake two universes before both extinction-level beings vanished completely through the doorway.
Ambrose reappeared over a hundred meters away, tumbling across broken stone.
He barely had time to look up.
The Black Key blazed, the colossal portal shuddering before its massive doors slammed shut with a deafening crash.
SCHHHHKKKKK!
One enormous tentacle failed to escape in time, the closing doorway slicing clean through it.
Black blood sprayed across the ruined city.
A deafening silence followed the closure of the portal doors.
The severed tentacle writhed violently on the ruined streets before slowly beginning to decay into ash.
No Void Entity or Devourer.
Only a few stunned eyes staring at the impossible. And Ambrose, lying flat on his back, wondering if he’d just saved one universe... or doomed another.
The Black Key suddenly became scorching hot inside his hand the moment he sat up.
