Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 342: _A Desire To Succeed"Come on!"
Ambrose narrowly dodged a laser blast from the Bipedal beast by ducking. He skidded backwards, grip around his scythe tightening till his knuckles whitened.
[It’s a lower SS-Rank but it still packs a punch.]
"You’re telling me."
The blast he just dodged seared a large hole through a mountain hundreds of meters behind him.
ROARRRRRRRR!
The beast roared, the sound sweeping back tens of his orcs before they could get close enough. Even Beherath had to keep his distance, sticking to using spells to buff up his soldiers as they tried getting close to the beast again.
Ambrose summoned the chains of Delirium, seamlessly attaching them around the shaft of Grave Keeper. He propelled himself forward like a living missile, blue flames erupting from the soles of his feet.
He raised the scythe, his orcs making way for him when he drew near enough.
SLASH.
He sent a huge horizontal slash at the beast’s neck after whipping the chains around a few times.
But at the very last second—the beast moved in a blur, appearing right behind him.
[WARNING—!]
Before Aura’s warning could load, Ambrose felt something heavy strike his back. His eyes bulged from the pain, the force from the blow so strong that blood sprayed out of his mouth.
He was barely able to parry another strike aimed at his ribs.
In a blink, space folded and he was teleported far away from the beast.
Unfortunately, not far enough.
[That strike took 1234 HP out of your total health bar.]
Aura barely dropped that update when Ambrose noticed the air around him heating up.
A blast of red aether zapped at him like a beacon of death, charring the earth beneath it and turning rocks to ash.
The sting still lingered from the punch, but he was able to teleport yet again, avoiding the blast at the very last second.
Ambrose shuddered.
’Well, well, well.’ He laughed, tongue flicking across his lips. The sharp metallic tang of his own blood was refreshingly spine-chilling. ’It’s been a while since my life flashed before my eyes.’
[I know that look from anywhere... Ambrose, sweetheart. Don’t even—]
A single inhale was all it took to withdraw his orc army. Including Beherath, who appeared puzzled before dissolving into his shadow.
They won’t be needed for this.
Suddenly, the beast’s head swerved through the thick smoke and dust clouding the terrain. Those red orbs locked on him, feral with bloodlust.
"Come catch this smoke, fucker."
It lunged.
He lunged as well, breaking the sound barrier with a couple of steps.
ZRKKKKKKKKK!
SLZZZZZZZZ!
Blue flames, harsh white frost and pure red aether met each other in a fierce clash that sent cracks spider-webbing around the two upon contact.
Ambrose’s grin widened, his black jacket and messy blonde hair blowing into the torrent of wind the clash pulled in.
The energy from their clash was felt hundreds of miles away by the lower beasts of the dimension. Many scurried for safety. Others looked into the clouds, which had begun darkening from the immense aether being poured below.
[Are you seriously trying to best an SS-Rank entity in an energy blast standoff?]
’Not trying.’ His boots sank into the surrounding earth, every muscle in his body screaming from the pressure squeezing his body. ’I AM going to beat this thing. One way or the fucking other.’
Emotions swarmed in his chest one after the other, each more intense than the last.
Fear that he might fail. A strong desire to succeed. Anger at the pain throbbing on his back from the last attack.
And then it all sharpened into one thing that drove his aether to the max.
"AHHHHH!"
The clouds in the blackening sky dispersed, all through the valley.
When he opened his eyes again... a second Ambrose was standing to his left.
No, he wasn’t imagining it.
A second Ambrose stood there, holding a version of his Grave Keeper with the same fierceness in his eyes. Then another one appeared beside that one. And another.
In a flash, hundreds of apparitions sharing his face appeared all around him and the Bipedal beast.
[CONGRATULATIONS!]
[The host has gained control of the copied ability: "illusion casting". These illusions don’t just affect a target’s mind but directly change the environment around the host.]
’... No shit.’ He was torn between laughing and breaking into a celebratory dance.
At long last, after weeks of trial, errors and repetition... he finally had control over one of Loki’s copied powers.
The Bipedal beast faltered.
For the first time since the battle began, hesitation flickered across those burning crimson eyes.
Hundreds of Ambroses stared back. Every illusion raised Grave Keeper in perfect sync.
"Now..." Ambrose breathed, blue flames dancing wildly around his body. "Let’s see how you deal with all of us."
The illusions moved, every single one charging as one.
The beast roared, firing a colossal beam from its eyes that swallowed dozens of copies whole—but the remaining illusions crashed into it from every direction.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
The resulting explosion swallowed the valley.
Entire mountains folded inward like paper before erupting into clouds of molten rock, shockwaves ripping through the dimension and flattening forests several miles away.
Even Ambrose was hurled backwards by the blast before instinct took over.
He reappeared hundreds of meters above the battlefield. Yet the force of the explosion still chased him through the air.
"Oh, we’re not done yet."
Closing his eyes for only a heartbeat, Ambrose reached toward another copied ability buried deep within himself.
He remembered Loki’s laughter.
The countless failed attempts. The strange sensation of his flesh becoming something else.
His back burned.
Then—
CRACK!
Two enormous white wings burst from between his shoulder blades, scattering glowing feathers into the sky. They spread wider and wider until they easily spanned over thirty feet, catching the raging winds with surprising ease.
[CONGRATULATIONS!]
[The host has gained control of the copied ability: "Shape Shifting."]
Ambrose smirked. "I’ll celebrate later."
With one powerful flap, he became a streak of blue light diving straight toward the crater below.
The beast had barely pulled itself free from the rubble when Ambrose swung Grave Keeper with every ounce of strength he possessed.
A crescent of roaring blue flames carved through the air.
The beast raised both arms to defend.
Sadly for it, the flames cleaved straight through its chest.
Silence dropped.
Then the massive creature split cleanly into two halves before collapsing with a deafening crash that shook what remained of the valley.
[CONGRATULATIONS: SS-Rank Bipedal Beast eliminated.]
[Obtained: SS-Rank Aether Core.]
[The system has automatically exchanged the core for a total of 100,000 Seduction Coins.]
Ambrose let out a long breath, dismissing the wings as they dissolved into shimmering light.
"One hundred thousand." He muttered. "Not bad for an afternoon’s work."
He twirled the Black Key between his fingers before unlocking a doorway back home.
Warm light spilt out.
Without another thought, he stepped through.
★★★★★
He stopped dead just when the doorway disappeared behind him.
The living room was occupied.
Apollo stood near the big screen TV.
Kali sat calmly on one of the couches, Yemoja beside her.
Devon and Viktor were already waiting.
Viktor’s expression tightened the moment Ambrose appeared.
’I tried warning you,’ the Ice Prince’s voice echoed weakly through their link. ’You were too far away. I couldn’t reach you.’
Kali rose gracefully to her feet, violet eyes warm despite everything.
"Welcome home, Ambrose."
His fingers immediately tightened around Grave Keeper, every wall shooting back into place inside him.
Silver eyes swept across every face before settling coldly on Kali.
"What the hell are all of you doing in my house?"
