Seducing the Guideverse With My System — Raising an Anomaly [BL]
Chapter 349: _Might Be A Serious Crisis[WARNING: Target Orion’s seal Integrity has dropped to 10%.]
Ambrose’s face paled at the system notification glaring with a red light in front of him.
Ten per cent?
It was at twelve per cent just this morning!
’A two per cent drop within a few hours is insanity.’ His eyes pinned on the boy who was across the hall, moving his head around with pure confusion. ’Gosh, I gotta stop this.’
"Sir?" A boy raised his hand before he could even take a step. "M-My powers. I can’t move stuff again."
Another boy shouted. "What happened to my lightning?!"
"My vines." A girl, no older than twelve, dropped to the ground, looking at her palms like they betrayed her. "What’s happening to us?"
Augustus rushed to the kids before the pandemonium could become any noisier.
"Kids, let’s settle down, okay? Remember teacher Ambrose’s breathing exercise."
Other teachers who’d merely been watching around the hall before now quickly joined the Esper, trying to calm the children and guide them through a futile attempt to reignite their aether.
Ambrose hurried to Orion, grabbing his shoulder. "Come on, buddy." His eyes darted around before he crouched to his son’s level. "Orion, what are you imagining right now?"
The latter blinked, lost on why that question was relevant.
"Orion." Ambrose made his voice even lower. "You may not know this now but... you’re neutralising the powers of the other kids."
"... I’m what?"
Ambrose sighed, raising a hand. "Look." He snapped his fingers, revealing a discreet spark of blue flames. "My powers still work. But the other kids can’t access theirs because you’re subconsciously blocking them."
Before Orion could react properly to that, a panicked shout came from across the hall.
"My powers!"
Ambrose and everyone else turned to the source.
To everyone’s surprise, it was Augustus whose face had lost every trace of colour. He clenched and unclenched his right palm, struggling to summon even a spark of his aether.
’The hell?’ Ambrose quickly hid his flames. ’Aura, what’s happening? How come his abilities are locked, and mine aren’t?’
[The unique origins of your abilities and how they’re tied to the system make them nigh impossible to be blocked.]
’... Are you saying aether blockers won’t affect me?’
[Yep.]
’And you didn’t find it fit to tell me this at any point since we met?’
[The need never arose, sweetheart.]
"Daddy, how do I make it stop?" Orion’s shaky voice pulled back his attention. "I’m not doing it on purpose, I swear."
Ambrose’s mouth parted—
"Guide Ambrose!"
Crap.
His head angled to Augustus, who pumped his feet to him, the mask of calm on him cracking by the second.
"This is clearly an emergency." The S-Rank whispered when he got close enough. "We need to call off the class and report to—"
"Just wait." Ambrose rose to his feet, grabbing one of Orion’s little hands. "They should get back control of their powers any minute now."
"Don’t you get it?" Augustus snapped. "It’s not just the kids. I can’t access my powers too for some reason. This might be a serious crisis or—Guide Ambrose?"
Ambrose had walked away without him noticing, muttering something inaudible to Orion. The kid glanced briefly at Augustus and the others before paying all his attention to his daddy.
[You know that Augustus guy is getting suspicious, right?]
’Tch. What? A C-Rank Guide and his six-year-old Esper son are somehow behind blocking the powers of everyone in the building?’ Ambrose didn’t look back for a second. ’Even he would pinch himself before going with that conclusion. Forget about that... we need to find ways to fix this. Fast.’

S-Rank Snow Dungeon
"Shit!"
CRASH!
Devon narrowly dodged being squashed by the fist of one of the beasts chasing him. Biting thick white snow billowed off the ground around him, making him squint hard as he kept on running.
How the fuck did he get here?
Barely minutes ago, he and a team of high-rank Hunters crossed through an S-Rank Rift in Washington. Now he was running for his life as trees chased him.
Yes.
Literal bloody trees!
These beasts were freakishly tall—easily over fifty feet—with limbs that were actually their branches. Two glowing yellow eyes were placed on a humanoid face made of wood.
The snow-covered forest trembled with every step they took.
Devon planted both boots into the snow, finally skidding to a stop instead of blindly fleeing.
"Fine." Yellow flames burst violently around his arms, heat instantly melting the thick snow beneath him. "You want me? Then come get me!"
He thrust both hands forward.
BOOOOOOOOM!
A tidal wave of blazing golden fire surged across the forest floor, devouring everything in its path. The inferno wrapped itself around the towering tree monstrosities, climbing their trunks and branches until they resembled living bonfires.
Devon gritted his teeth, pouring more and more aether into the attack as veins bulged along his neck.
"Burn!"
One of the monsters let out an earth-shaking groan before finally collapsing, its burning body crashing into the snow with enough force to shake the surrounding forest.
"Yes!"
His victory lasted barely a second.
The remaining creatures simply kept walking.
Although their bark blackened and cracked beneath the relentless flames, they stubbornly pushed through the inferno as though pain meant nothing to them.
"Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me."
One enormous branch-like leg swung toward him.
CRASH!
The kick landed squarely against Devon’s ribs, launching him through several trees before his back slammed into the trunk of another with a sickening crack.
Blood splattered onto the snow.
He forced himself upright, breathing heavily while the monsters slowly surrounded him from every direction.
"Yep." He wiped blood from his lips, tightening his fists once more. "Definitely S-Rank beasts."
Yellow flames gathered desperately between his palms.
Images of his last interaction with Ambrose and Orion this morning flashed through his mind.
If he wasn’t going to see them again, he might as well—
"Cover your ears!"
Devon’s eyes widened.
He knew that voice.
Without questioning it, he instantly clamped both hands over his ears.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
A devastating sonic scream exploded through the forest, sending visible ripples through the air itself. The towering tree beasts staggered violently, clutching at their wooden heads as splinters burst from their trunks.
"Move!" Alisha grabbed Devon beneath one arm, hauling him forward. "We don’t have time!"
They sprinted through the snow as the monsters reeled behind them.
"You found me..." Devon breathed. "What about the others?"
She shook her head grimly. "I haven’t seen Viktor. Or Trina. Or anyone."
His stomach sank.
The Rift scattered every single Hunter across the Dungeon terrain.
And if he had been unlucky enough to encounter monsters like these...
Devon couldn’t help wondering what horrors Viktor, Trina and the others were facing right now.
