Yu Huannian watched as Miao Anji dilly-dallied, hesitating to get on.

"Hey, hey, hey!"

Miao Anji scrambled onto the bike.

"Hiss!" Yu Huannian’s face twisted in pain. "Do you fucking know how to get on a bike? The back seat!"

"So weird." Miao Anji glanced at the back seat and scooted onto it nervously. ’He could have bought a proper motorcycle, but no, he had to get this thing.’

"AHHHH!" The second Miao Anji’s butt touched the seat, Yu Huannian tore off, making him scream instantly.

"Miao Anji, if you keep messing around, I’m going to throw you off!"

Miao Anji closed his eyes and leaned against Yu Huannian’s back. "Y-y-you, just follow it."

Yu Huannian looked at the scorpion on the fuel tank and gunned the engine.

...

At Shi Xingchao’s hideout, he looked at his men. "The cops are all watching us. We can’t stay in the country any longer. We’re heading back."

Shi Xingchao stubbed out his cigarette and stared at a group photo of the entire police department on the wall. After all these years, this was the first time he’d been bested by them.

And it was all because of Jiang Li!

"How’s Zhao Shuo? Don’t let him die. He’ll be a good bargaining chip when the time comes."

"He’s still breathing."

"That’ll do. Get ready to leave."

Shi Xingchao had already contacted the compound to arrange an extraction. As long as he got away, he could always rebuild.

One day, he would make them pay.

Around the corner, pressed against the wall, Shi Anno clamped a hand over her mouth, her entire body shaking.

’It’s Dad. It’s really my dad!’

’The kind of person my teacher always talked about... is my own father!’

She had heard that many officers had died because of this. She’d always thought those criminals were evil to the core, that dying ten thousand times wouldn’t be enough to atone for their sins.

Ever since she was a little girl, her dream had been to become a police officer, to punish the wicked and protect the good.

But she had never imagined the villain would be her own father.

Listening to Shi Xingchao and the others talking outside, Shi Anno lowered her head in tears and looked at the watch on her wrist.

Her father had doted on her since she was a little girl. He loved her dearly, or so she had always thought.

’But if Dad really loved me, how could he use me as bait?’

Shi Anno inserted the SIM card and turned it on, then found a crack in the wall and tossed it inside.

"The watch’s location is live! Sister Ji, Brother Zhou, we’ve got a signal!"

Ji Qinghe, Zhou Tiancheng, and the others shot to their feet.

"Quick! Notify the other departments! We can’t let them get away this time!"

Shi Xingchao and his men set off that night, following their planned escape route. Zhou Tiancheng and his team were deployed that same night.

After arriving, Yu Huannian followed Miao Anji as they headed inside.

Miao Anji took out his Bone Flute and began to play. A dense swarm of insects suddenly emerged from all around—some crawling on the ground, others flying through the air.

Yu Huannian’s eyes widened, seeing Miao Anji in a completely new light.

"Cockroaches! Why are there so many?! AHHHH!"

A guard had just swatted away two that landed on him when, in the next second, he was covered in more and more of them.

The hidden pests swarmed out from all directions and headed inside.

"What’s that noise?" Shi Xingchao stood up, hearing the terrified screams from outside.

"Boss, we have a problem! I don’t know why, but a huge number of bugs suddenly appeared!"

Shi Xingchao frowned and went to the window to look. The ground and the air were teeming with insects.

"This is..." Shi Xingchao froze for a second before it suddenly dawned on him.

"It must be Miao Anji. He’s found us." He strode forward and grabbed the man by the collar. "Didn’t you remove the Gu Worm?

How can he still track us?!"

"I-I-I-I don’t know! I swear I dealt with that Gu Worm! Could it be... there wasn’t just one?"

Shi Xingchao was so furious a vein throbbed on his forehead. "Then what are you standing there gawking for? Get rid of them! If you can’t, I’ll put a bullet in your head myself!"

The man frantically took out a flute, but the results were disappointing. It seemed to have some effect at first.

But as the sound of the flute outside grew clearer, the insects, far from diminishing, only increased in number.

Miao Anji’s gaze was chilling as he stared in a particular direction ahead.

Yu Huannian ran, following the direction of the pests.

"Useless trash!" Seeing that the man’s playing had no effect, Shi Xingchao shot him dead.

Shi Xingchao glanced outside and saw only Miao Anji. ’Looks like the police aren’t here yet,’ he thought. ’We still have time.’

"Grab Zhao Shuo! Let’s go!"

Shi Xingchao led his men out the back and drove straight off. It was only when he got in the car that he realized half of his men were already down.

They were all on the ground, screaming in agony.

Yu Huannian saw Shi Xingchao fleeing and got ready to chase him on his motorcycle.

Just as the two of them came out, they saw several police cars.

"Xiao Nian, Xiao Ji, what are you two doing here?" Zhou Tiancheng asked in surprise, recognizing the two figures.

He’d heard from Xingye that they were told to go home and rest. Jiang Li was also seriously injured. ’Don’t tell me he came too?’

Lu Xingye got out of his car and scanned the area. He breathed a sigh of relief when he didn’t see Jiang Li.

Yu Huannian shot them a glance and immediately gave chase. ’So much useless chatter.’

Lu Xingye hopped on his own motorcycle and sped after him.

"Hey! Hey!"

Zhou Tiancheng watched the two motorcycles disappear. "Shi Xingchao must have gotten away. Leave a team here. The rest of you, with me!"

Shi Xingchao saw the motorcycles emerging behind them and gave the man next to him a meaningful look.

The man took out a gun and fired at them.

Yu Huannian swerved sharply, nearly crashing.

Lu Xingye pulled out his gun and fired twice at the car’s tires, causing it to swerve as well.

"The police are here?" Shi Xingchao frowned, watching the police cars appear behind them.

Shi Anno cowered by the car door, looking at Shi Xingchao’s savage expression. She whispered, "Dad... Daddy."

Only then did Shi Xingchao remember Shi Anno was there. "Anno, be a good girl. Don’t make a fuss. Daddy’s taking you home."

Shi Anno instantly understood what he meant by "home." Her lips trembled as she stared at him.

"Daddy, my teacher said this is wrong... Can’t we just turn ourselves in? Please, Daddy..."

SLAP!

Shi Anno’s head was knocked to the side. Her cheek stung, and her mouth filled with the coppery taste of blood.

Any trace of Warmth had vanished from Shi Xingchao’s eyes. "Anno, do you not understand what I’m saying? I told you to be good!"

Shi Xingchao grabbed Shi Anno by the hair and snarled, "You ungrateful brat! I’m your father, and you’re telling me to turn myself in? You’ve got a lot of nerve!"

Shi Anno was now too terrified to utter a single word.

Shi Xingchao’s gaze lingered on her for a few seconds. ’Whatever,’ he thought, ’a girl is valuable.’

Shi Anno was thrown against the car door, her head smacking against it. Her mind went blank, buzzing, and her vision blurred.

She didn’t know how long it had been before she was yanked out of the car. They were moving through a forest, and she could hear gunshots.

Shi Xingchao watched as the criminal investigators and armed police closed in on them.

"Faster! We’re almost at the border!"

"Boss, should we just ditch this dead weight Zhao Shuo?

Also... how does it feel like the police know our exact location?"

Shi Xingchao frowned at his words, glancing at the unconscious Zhao Shuo. "It’s only two hundred meters. Keep him with us.
