Sin System: Demonic Harem After Reincarnation
Chapter 262. The Early Battle (2)Chapter 262: 262. The Early Battle (2)
On the eastern side, the main wave continuously pressed the division. Spearheaded by the frost turtle, the frontline monsters began trampling the human soldiers.
At the same time, Minerva raised the dead, increasing the number of her servants.
The Dark Knight, Ash, was like a hidden shadow on the battlefield. He repeatedly flickered near the middle part of the enemy formation, chopping one head after another.
If it wasn’t for the fact that he nearly crippled a part of the division by himself, the commanding general would find it hard to locate him.
However, this middle-aged man, who’d gained various meritorious deeds in the skirmishes against the Sicax Kingdom, found this particular battle extremely harrowing.
He had no way to act against Ash at the moment due to being locked on by the Hell Knight.
’This... This... Another fifth circle aura... The commander was indeed right, he’s here!’ Harrison quickly raised his spear and used his most powerful skill, [Roaring Thrust].
A tremendous force suddenly broke the sound barrier, condensing the air into a sharp gust which parted the fog.
This caused the skill to be extremely eye-catching and its ’roar’ even made the monsters momentarily halt.
However, the skill itself was aimed toward the sky, which confused even the human soldiers. They had no idea why the general would waste a chance to kill the monsters.
A slight glint appeared in Harrison’s eyes who immediately shouted afterwards, "Retreat! Toward the city!"
However confused the soldiers were, they were not supposed to ask about the general’s actions as they followed orders.
But they did not simply turn around and flee, as that would be just suicide. Instead, they continued battling but gave up on maintaining an early line of defense for the city.
This was ultimately suspicious but Issac’s expression didn’t change.
"A ploy? It doesn’t matter. Keep pressing!" He flicked his broadsword, casually killing a wave of soldiers.
There were already immense casualties on the battlefield and Minerva obviously couldn’t turn them all into her undead. The monsters were rather reluctant to leave without feasting, but their hunger for violence was even higher.
They continued chasing the division, coming in direct sight of the main army stationed outside the city.
Likewise, the southwestern division also began to converge towards Ulford, following the monster wave.
Although the royal powerhouses were at a disadvantage against the elves, they were smart enough to not engage too seriously.
Even though there was one more 4th Circler, it was difficult to beat the human general and his deputy, who always ran around on open ground.
If one elf split off and headed to kill the soldiers, they would quickly be overwhelmed. Right now, the number of flank monsters had lessened a lot, unburdening the lower ranked warriors and mages. They were able to handle an extra 4th Circler, achieving a delicate balance.
At present, more than half of the division still survived the onslaught. The ranged warriors remaining on the fort kept hindering the monsters’ path, giving a chance for their comrades to also head towards the city.
With such a development, the monster wave was nonetheless caught in-between the two divisions. However, this position wasn’t that favourable to the royal army, which was still rather scattered and suppressed.
It was already half past seven in the morning and the fog was starting to thin out. The situation on the battlefield became clearer.
Except for the Hell Knight Issac, who’d already become a true demon, Elder Druid Linda was the only elven powerhouse remaining within the core of the second wave.
She was currently at the forefront, having transformed into a ferocious Chimera. With every swipe of her claws, she’d kill tens of human warriors, disrupting their battle formations.
Due to her high level, normal tactics such as restricting her movement, disorienting her senses, team bombardment, etc. simply didn’t work against her.
As she was assisted by all kinds of land and aerial monsters who prevented her from falling into an encirclement of 3rd Circlers, she was able to commit unrestrained slaughter.
Only a team of 4th Circle mages would be able to force her out of her strongest transfiguration. However, such individuals were valuable assets. There was only one of such mages in this division and he was protecting the general.
As Issac didn’t have many long-range skills, General Harrison was still alive. However, there was a look of despair on his face, as if he could sense the arrival of his death.
Floating slightly above the monster wave, Issac sneered, "This human has a good talent for acting."
As soon as he said that, the Hell Knight sharply turned his head sideways, looking towards a nearby farmland on the periphery of the city walls.
Lines of royal army soldiers protecting the hidden exit slightly parted for some reason. A cavalry of four hundred or so men armed in white and red full-body armor rode on well-bred horses.
They were led by two similarly armored individuals whose helms were rather stylized with a white feather on top.
These were the reserve force of the church whose job was to guard the cathedral at all costs. However, if the city fell, there would be no way to keep the evil monsters at bay.
Even though the large-scale purification array was utilised, the other side had at least two 5th Circlers. It wouldn’t take long for the defense to fall.
Rather than await their doom, they should fully cooperate with the kingdom. The earlier flashy display of General Harrison was their cue to move.
As the church finally mobilized its power, the appearance of those holy guardians didn’t go unnoticed on the battlefield.
With the slight fluctuations of holy mana they emitted, Issac could already guess who was approaching.
Thus, he immediately commanded Minerva to look out for any unexpected assaults that came from the right. At the same time, he flew forward and attacked the general with a copied ability. One of his titles, [Heathen of Jealousy], allowed him to wield the last-used ability of his enemy.
Seeing a demonic version of his own spear strike hurling towards him, Harrison braced for impact, lifting his heavy shield.
However, a tremendous gust of wind seemed to blow away that attack.
"As expected of a demon, you have no shame bullying the weak!" A strong and dignified voice resounded across the battlefield, causing the soldiers to instinctively look back.
There was a tall man in golden armor with a red cape fluttering on his back. He seemed to be walking on air, wielding a gray broadsword with a bluish black hilt.
’’Bors, the Storm Holder..." the silver flames in Issac’s sunken eyes flickered imperceptibly.
