Chapter 36: Chapter 36. Lose Your Job
Chapter 36. Lose Your Job
Rosa Lin’s POV
I sat down quickly, without hesitation to avoid embarrassment. My mind was all over the place. I placed both of my hands against the piano, staring at it in a daze. My mind replayed the experience of the past few minutes.
I don’t know what to think. I’ve never been one to believe in supernatural occurrences, never been one to believe in extraordinary things that could make people feel like they are going insane. But I’m literally living the life of one right now.
My mind couldn’t bear it. I couldn’t take it, definitely couldn’t comprehend it. My throat felt tight. There is no freaking way. I have to be the one wrong here. Something has to be wrong with me. I quickly took out my phone, swiped it open, ignoring the lecture I was supposed to be focused on right now.
I moved straight toward Mia’s chat. I sent a quick message: Mia, I need your help.😭
Message sent.
Then I waited, tapping my foot against the floor. I raised an eyebrow, my mind racing when I looked back at the message. She hasn’t replied yet. The message ticked, showing that she has received it, but she hasn’t seen it yet. She’s probably busy and just occupied.
I quickly sent another message: I don’t know how to say this, but I think I might actually need that therapy.
Then I switched off my phone after sending the message and dropped it face down against the piano with a thump.
His words came back to my ears: "Your uncle is hiding something huge from you, and if he doesn’t come clean on time, it could lead to a bloody intestine and broken bones."
The remembrance of that made me flinch once again. What the hell is he talking about?
I felt overloaded. I covered my face and leaned against the piano, feeling my racing pulse, completely neglecting the lecture that I was supposed to be engaged in.
I need to ask him.
Don Diaxu’s POV
I was draped in my office chair, crossing my legs, twirling my pen slowly in my hand, feeling the scrunching of my facial skin, the dryness in my jaws. My face was blank, but the voices in my head were catastrophic, loud, chaotic, extremely pulverizing.
I was losing my sanity right now. That image wouldn’t leave my head: the innocent image of her body, her denim jacket, and that short flared skirt that exposed those marvelous smooth thighs.
I closed my eyes and slapped my forehead. Goddamn it, stop being a pervert, Don. Put yourself together, I thought to myself.
I shook my head. I should forget about her. I should focus on work, find anything to distract myself, ignore the racing sensations coursing through my body. But I just couldn’t.
The repetition of the sensations, the ecstatic height of it that keeps making me lose my mind over and over again... It was driving me mad. I was at the precipice. I am this close to losing my sanity if I don’t get to act on this overwhelming feeling that has lasted more than a lifetime.
I crashed back against the chair and gazed at the ceiling, staring at the roof.
"Please, can’t you just let me go?" I said softly, talking to only God knew what. "Help me. Just free me. I can’t continue with this torment anymore."
My voice shook. The desperation was there. I clenched my palm tightly against the armrest of my chair, and I closed my eyes, letting out a soft breath.
God, she looked so fucking good today, I thought to myself.
A thought crossed my mind, and then I tapped against my chin. I wonder what she would be doing right now. Is she done with class?
I bolted up involuntarily before I could stop myself; the image of that hickey kept flashing in my mind. I shook my head. I can’t. My mind hasn’t been at peace ever since I saw that, despite her insisting that it was Mia. I just couldn’t put two and two together. Nothing was making sense.
I moved my fingers all over the few files on the table. Maybe I should just contact her, figure out where she is. If she is free, then I could take her for another little walk.
I froze. What are you doing, Don? I asked myself.
I rested against the table, keeping my head face down. I shook my head. I can’t help it. I’m going to waste time sitting and staring into space and just running crazy all in my head. I needed fresh air.
I quickly picked up my office keys, adjusted my suit, checked to ensure everything else was intact. Then I casually walked out of the office and shut the door as quickly as I could.
"Hope you’re having a good day, Mr. Don," a soft female voice said behind me.
I turned around to catch a petite young lady who also worked in the official building, walking past me with dozens of files in her hand. I saw her wink at me through her transparent glasses.
I smiled and bowed. "Of course, and you?" I replied casually.
She chuckled. "Of course I am. Why wouldn’t I be, when I have such a very good and handsome-looking face I get to see every day?" she said, finally coming to a stop before me.
Oh great, not again, I thought to myself.
This was what I had to deal with every day: countless female lecturers stalking me, sending me notes, doing everything they could in their freaking jobless, desperate lives just to get my attention. Well, it’s already too late.
I chuckled and then raked my fingers through my hair, thinking of an excuse to escape her. "Um, so, um, have a good day. I’ve got to run along."
She quickly held my hand. "Wait, come on," she said casually.
I looked back at her.
"What’s the rush? Can’t we have a little discussion?" she asked.
I didn’t say anything.
She chuckled. "I was hoping maybe we could just meet up today for dinner," she said, "It’s important," she added quickly, "to discuss some of the priorities of students, staff, you know."
"I’m busy," I said quickly, pulling my hand away from her grasp and walking down the corridor.
If only they knew. If only they knew I had an infatuation—a very bloody, dangerous infatuation—that no matter what I did, I couldn’t shake her off. Taking her off my mind literally means leaving myself brain-dead, scraping my brain away from my head, letting me know I’m brainless. That’s literally the only way. I just couldn’t. She has been ingrained in my mind for a longer period than I could bear. And the staggering repetition was driving me insane. I couldn’t escape this loop. It was an endless torment.
At least I should be able to divert and throw some sort of attention toward other women, right? Yeah, I fucking couldn’t. Which was more annoying than anything I’ve ever felt in my life.
I was glued to her.
I found myself stumbling out of the official building with frustration, feeling the warm sun bathing against my skin. I closed my eyes and inhaled softly, taking in the warm air. Then I adjusted my suit and looked ahead.
I began to make my way toward the official entrance when I heard a noise that made my footsteps slow down.
A frown creased my forehead when I heard the female voice that came through. I could recognize that voice anywhere. There was certainly no mistaking it. I raised an eyebrow and hesitated when I saw Rosa suddenly crash into the entrance of the official park, with frustration in her stride. She was stomping endlessly, like she was trying to escape someone.
I was about to make a move toward her to question her and comfort her when I saw Mac trailing closely behind her, trying desperately to grab her. She shoved her hand away from his grip and spun around.
"Won’t you fucking leave me alone?" she exclaimed. "Look, I am done with you, okay? What more do you want from me? Just let me go. Let me be. I have told you the fucking truth!" she exclaimed.
"You expect me to really believe that?" he said.
I folded my arms, a frown creasing my forehead. A sudden strong heaviness settled in my chest. I watched.
"You have a lot to tell me. I am not really getting you. Go straight to the point," he said.
"How is it your fucking business, Mac?" Rosa said.
I saw the desperate lines on her forehead, like she wanted to kill him, like she wanted him off, but he was being so stubborn.
I am as well truly confused about this boy’s motives. What does he want from her? He wrecked her, broke her spirit, humiliated her all over campus, made her feel like a stupid slut. He has damaged her reputation in this school, and yet he was still after her. What for? What did he want? He kept acting like he actually cared. If he did, why did he do what he did to her?
I couldn’t stop it. I felt my blood boil. A sudden heavy heat flooded my head. Cold sweat dripped down my forehead, not from fear, but from severe boiling rage that was strong enough to make every vein in my body rupture. I clenched my fist tightly, feeling my knuckle bones tighten around my skin.
How dare he attempt to touch what is mine? I thought to myself, noticing the way he grabbed Rosa and pinned her against the entrance gate, glaring down at her, his eyes raking over her with what I recognized as hunger.
I froze, with my eyes wide, a gasp escaping me.
I saw Rosa press her hand against his chest. "Fucking leave me alone!" she exclaimed, pounding against his chest.
He still didn’t move. I saw Mac grab her hand, press her hands on either side of her head, trapping her, and then moving his lips closer toward her neck.
What the fuck? My eyes widened. I felt them swell, like blood was about to leak out of my eyeballs.
Could he be the one behind the hickey?
A very massive fire flooded my chest. I moved before I could even stop myself.
"Mac, stop it. What the fuck? This is so wrong," I heard Rosa’s voice as she struggled to push him away.
"Come on, be a sexy bitch." I saw his hand trailing over her thighs.
I saw it. Okay, now I’m going to fucking kill him.
My thumping footsteps alerted them. I saw the both of them turn, their eyes fixed at me same time. Rosa gasped. Mac frowned, but he didn’t pull away from her, like he wanted to infuriate mebon purpose—and oh God, it was so working.
I am going to show him.
I got to them in the blink of an eye. I grabbed his shirt roughly, and tore him away from her with a force that made him stumble. He could barely catch himself. He almost tripped over, but my strong arms holding his shirt kept him upright.
Then I raised my other hand, my fist hard and ready to come straight at his face. Rosa’s body instantly pressed against my chest, hugging me, taking hold of my right hand.
"Mr. Don, no!" she exclaimed quickly, making me freeze.
I stayed glued to the spot in that manner, glaring at him. Mac was staring at me with his eyes wide, like he didn’t believe I was just about to hit him.
The three of us remained glued to the spot like statues.
I glared at Mac, then I turned my head to look down at Rosa, who was hugging me, her other hand gripping against my arm, keeping me steady. I saw the way she shook, then looked up at me with trembling lips, her eyes wide, panic in those perfectly almond shaped dark eyes.
God...
She’s a fucking masterpiece.
I couldn’t find it in me to remsin angry.
I swallowed. Then I looked back at Mac. I angrily shoved him away, letting go of his shirt. I watched him. My hands slowly came down as I turned back to look down at Rosa. A sharp searing heat pierced through my frame.
She must have suddenly noticed that she was lingering because she blinked and quickly let go of my arm and pulled herself away from me.
God, now I was missing the warmth of her body. I stared at her, totally lost.
"I’m so going to fucking report you," Mac’s voice brought me back to the present.
I frowned. I slowly turned my head to look back at him. "What?" I asked.
He scoffed. "You have just exposed yourself!" he exclaimed. "I’m going to report your affair with a student, and you are going to fucking lose your job!"
