Chapter 37: Chapter 37. Turn It Around
Chapter 37. Turn It Around
Don Diaxu ’s POV
Just what the hell is wrong with him? The thought crossed my mind. I could only glare at him. He was fuming. I saw his chest heaving, panting hard, his face red, veins bulging on so many sections. I couldn’t understand his infuriation. I crossed my arms, glaring at him with a crease on my forehead.
"Just you watch and see. You think you’re confident? You think you’re smart just because you have an older, powerful position? You are no bigger than this school organization," he kept exclaiming. "I’m going to fucking report you."
"Mac," Rosa said beside me. "Can you please stop? Don’t do that. It’s not true. There’s nothing going on between us. I have told you,"
I turned my head to look at her with a frown. Why the hell was she trying to explain herself to this bastard? I couldn’t keep the anger out of my chest.
"You think you haven’t exposed yourself right now?" Mac kept exclaiming. I turned my eyes to look back at him. "You’ve just exposed yourself. I have seen it. I can’t believe you both."
I saw the way he was glaring at me. I recognized that look anywhere. Something that resembled close to jealousy.
I ground my teeth together, working my jaw and flaring my muscles, twisting together on the side of my face.
"Mac," Rosa exclaimed. "Please stop."
I turned to look at her, opening my mouth to say something, but I couldn’t make out any words to say to her. I hated that she was trying to explain herself.
I turned back to look at him and stepped closer toward him, using my tall height as some sort of threat toward him. "What if I was?" I asked.
I felt Rosa flinch beside me. Mac stared at me with wide eyes.
I raised an eyebrow. He opened his mouth.
I chuckled. "Yeah, you heard me. I’m having an affair with her. Great. Perfect. I’m not denying it. What if I am? What are you going to do?" I wiggled my fingers at him, urging him to go ahead. "Come on. Go on. Report to the organization. Let’s see what’s gonna happen. Tell them, ’Yeah, I’m having an affair with a female student. Yes, you’re right.’ What do you want to do about it?" I asked.
I saw him staring at me, mouth agape with disbelief, his eyes full-blown wide. "Are you serious?" he exclaimed. His eyes darted from me back to Rosa at intervals. He glared at Rosa. "Sleeping with him?" he exclaimed, like he truly couldn’t believe it.
"No," Rosa exclaimed. I saw her turn to look at me and grab my arm. "What are you doing, Mr. Don? Can you quit this? This is not making sense."
I could hear her anger, her disbelief, but at this point, I really didn’t care. I was infuriated. This bastard was getting on my nerves, and I wanted him to keep at least a million feet away from Rosa and never come close to her again, or else I would strangle him. She was the one keeping me from burying his body a hundred feet below the floor right now.
I saw Mac scoff and shake his head.
"Oh my God. You know, I actually assumed I was wrong," he said. "I really did believe I was wrong, like I was accusing you wrongly. So I was actually right!" he exclaimed.
"No," Rosa exclaimed once again. "He’s wrong." She turned to me and slapped my arm. "Mr. Don, deny it, please. This can’t be right. Please, this will destroy your career. It will ruin my reputation all the more. Why are you doing this?" she exclaimed.
Mac chuckled and shook his head. "Oh wow, this is the biggest news of the century. I cannot believe this right now. Actually, I really don’t believe it. It’s impossible. It’s way too easy," he said. I saw the way he was glaring at me. "I’m going to need proof, perfect evidence."
He took out his phone. I saw the moment he clicked against his camera to record the both of us.
Rosa began to step away.
"Why don’t you kiss her? Prove it to me that you’re actually having something to do with her. Then maybe I might just believe your story."
I felt the hot rush of heat flood my body. I clenched my fist tight.
Rosa shook her head. She was stepping away. "Mac, don’t do this," she said.
Fuck him, I thought to myself.
I turned to her and grabbed her hand. I saw her gasp and turn to look at me with wide eyes. "Mr. Don—"
I didn’t let her complete her sentence. God, I have been so aching to do this in a long while.
I wrapped my arms tighter around her waist, brought her so close until I felt the warmth of her body and marvelous curves, her supple bosom pressed against my chest. She stared at me, her eyes wide, full-blown panic, her lips trembling, a soft gasp escaping her lips.
Her face was flushed.
I couldn’t go straight to the point right now. I could only do the simplest thing that came to my mind. I bent my head low toward her face, straight in, and planted a soft, lingering kiss against her cheek.
She trembled at the contact, a soft gasp escaping her mouth. Then I slowly pulled away, staring at her straight into her eyes. She was frozen, staring at me with disbelief, her lips slightly apart.
God, she looks so beautiful right now. The desperate urge to press my lips against those soft, supple, naked lips overwhelmed my mind. I almost forgot that Mac was standing right there in front of us, actually recording with a camera.
God, don’t do it, Don, I thought to myself. You know how dangerous it is. Don’t you dare fucking do it.
"Oh God, no! What the fuck?"
I heard Mac’s exclamation that actually brought me back to the present. I flinched. Then I slowly turned my head to look back at him. He still held the camera up, staring at me with wide eyes. I saw his angry eyes darting from Rosa back to me at intervals.
"You are for real?" he said.
None of us said anything.
Rosa quickly pressed her hand against my chest and then shoved me away, pulling herself away from me.
I turned to look at her. I saw the way she fiddled with her fingers, the way she suddenly looked down. There was no panic in her eyes anymore. I recognized that look. I can’t mistake it anywhere. She was angry. Really infuriated.
I swallowed. Oh God.
I turned back to look at Mac. I saw him press a button on his phone and bring his hand down.
"Thank you for giving me the evidence," he said. "The authorities are going to know this for real," Then he turned around and vanished through the entrance of the official section.
I watched him disappear and clenched my fist. It doesn’t matter. It’s fruitless. Whatever his plans are, it can’t work.
Only Rosa mattered.
I turned my focus to look back at Rosa. It should be satisfying that I have done that to chase him away, to let him know that he should keep his distance away from her. But I don’t like the look on Rosa’s face right now.
I frowned for a few minutes, opened my mouth, but I couldn’t get any words out. Raw panic flooded my chest. I stepped closer toward her. "Rosa."
I stretched my hands to hold her, but she moved her hand quickly and shoved my hand away, still keeping her focus on the ground. I saw the raw rage, expressed through the bulging of the veins on her forehead.
Shit.
She gripped tightly against her backpack now. I saw her slowly lift up her head and take a deep breath. Then she turned around to walk away.
"Rosa," I called and grabbed her hand.
She snapped her hand away and glared at me. "Don’t you fucking touch me!" she exclaimed.
The sound of her voice made me flinch. I felt something that resembled close to a spear strike so deep in my gut. I clenched my teeth together.
Oh Lord God, I thought to myself. I have messed up. Like messed up really, really bad.
I closed my eyes and sighed.
"Rosa..."
"Don’t you even call my name!" she exclaimed. "What have you done?" she asked.
I frowned. "Look, I was just trying to—"
"No, don’t explain to me!" she shouted. "What were you trying to prove? What were you trying to say? What was the meaning of that?"
I closed my eyes and traced my palm against my forehead. Now I felt like a fool. Look at me, being corrected by a child.
Well, not really a child, something in my mind said, but I shook my head. That was not the point.
"You have messed things up!" she continued.
I slowly lifted my eyes, looking back at her.
"Do you know what you have done? I am trying my best to keep a low profile here, trying my best to rebuild back the life that he has already destroyed in this school, trying my best not to..." She stopped talking and then placed her palm against her forehead. She was obviously trying to contain her rage.
"Look, I’m sorry..."
"Don’t you even think of telling me sorry!" she interrupted, shouting at me. "Your sorry is fucking pissing me off right now! I explained it all to you, told you about my pain. You’re supposed to be helping me, trying to prevent this from getting worse, from blowing up out of proportion. But you’re just making it worse. What was that supposed to mean?" She snapped. "No, tell me, what were you trying to prove?"
I closed my eyes once again and let out a soft sigh. "Forgive me, please. I really regret what I did."
"Yeah, you regret it after the damage has been done!"
"I shouldn’t have done that," I said.
"Yes, you shouldn’t have, but it’s already too late because he recorded us, and I know Mac. He’s going to do it. If he did it to me, he’s going to definitely fucking do it. Do you know how that’s going to make my stay in this school even much worse?"
I saw the sorrow in her eyes now. Her voice was breaking. She looked like she was about to break down. Her eyes glistened. She looked at me, opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out.
Then she pointed at me. "Don’t you even fucking think of talking to me again. We’re done. I’m going back to your mansion to collect my luggage this evening," she said.
Then she turned around and bolted off quickly.
I tried to grab her, but she was already gone. I felt numb. Like I was descending into a pit of darkness. I bowed my head and then dropped my shoulders.
Yep. Way to go, Don. You’ve messed it all up. Even far much worse.
I let out a soft breath. What the hell have I done?
I slowly looked up at the entrance. Why had she come here in the first place? If Mac hadn’t been here, would things have been better?
Oh goodness me! I slapped my palm against my forehead. "Stupid, stupid man!" I muttered, almost harshly to myself, and began to pace around the official park, frustrated.
I was so satisfied with riling Mac up, I forgot about how the consequences would affect her, how she would feel.
I shook my head and raised both of my eyebrows. You’re stupid, Don. You need to rewrite this. You need to turn this around for her.
