Chapter 734: Chapter 734: Make Good On That Promise

Okay, good, looks like Kai and the others are on their way. I’m pretty sure I can take this guy on my own, his Touch of Death Skill that Kai warned me about shouldn’t be able to get through my Telekinetic Zone.
But better safe than sorry, I should hold myself back and wait for the three who are immune to that Skill to get here. Well, unless he makes the first move and attacks, in which case, my only option will be to fight.
About an hour ago, he was flagged on one of the public surveillance cams, skulking outside a grocery store and stealing bags of groceries from an old man who exited the store.
The Union immediately contacted me and a bunch of other high-ranked Hunters to rush to the scene. He fought back initially, killing a couple of Hunters, before running away when I showed up.
I managed to shepherd him to an isolated area and we’ve currently got him cornered in an abandoned warehouse. I’m hovering above the warehouse, while the other Hunters had the building surrounded.
We’ve got a Detector keeping track of his presence, so if there’s a hidden exit or something leading underground or whatever, we’ll know. So, now all that’s left to do is wait for Kai, Ariella and Cleo to arrive.
Hm? Oh, shit! Ciel’s going to be pissed when she finds out that she was left out of this. But it’s for the best, she’d definitely insist on blasting the entire warehouse to hell. And, well...we can’t let her do that inside a Sanctuary.
"Any movement?" I inquired into my comms.
"No, he’s pacing around, his movements feel panicked and frantic. Seems like he’s looking for a way out," Responded the Detector.
"Alright, let me know if anything changes," I replied, starting to get a bit restless.
The longer this standoff lasts, the more desperate he’s going to get. He’s likely realized why we’re stalling instead of rushing in. He knows his Touch of Death won’t work on Kai, and he likely knows that Kai wants him dead too.
And most importantly, he’s surely aware that he doesn’t stand a chance against Kai. I doubt he’s particular eager to encounter Kai here, so-...
"He’s stopped moving, he-...he’s rushing towards the back wall!" Suddenly exclaimed the Detector, right as the sound of wood splintering and breaking rang out, as Leto Nex burst out of the back wall with a large scythe in hand.
The Hunters around the spot spread out a bit further as he began to charge at them, before quickly springing back as I fired out a rapid, powerful telekinetic blast down towards him.
A loud crash rang out as my attack collided against the ground, bits of concrete flying out upon impact. I rapidly extended my whips down as he stumbled back, his eyes widening in alarm before he quickly scrambled back into the warehouse.
I retracted my whips as he disappeared from sight, letting out a quiet sigh of relief. His movements are clearly that of an amateur, but his reaction time isn’t bad...which contradicts what Kai and the others told me. Guess living in hiding and being on the run for several weeks will do that.
Hm?
I glanced across as a Teleporter tapped on his comms to give us a subtle signal and vanished from sight. Nice, looks like the others are finally here. Time to wrap this up.
The Teleporter soon reappeared, along with Kai, Ariella and Cleo. I quietly swooped down and landed before them as they stepped forward.
"He’s in there. He tried to force his way out earlier, but he failed," I informed them quietly.
"Got it. Time to pick up where I left off before the end of the trial," Remarked Kai, a determined look on his face.
"Now that I think about it...isn’t all three of us coming here kinda overkill?" Mused Cleo thoughtfully.
"Better safe than sorry," Responded Ariella with a wry smile.
"I’ll head inside, you guys cover the exits in case he manages to slip out," Replied Kai, drawing out his blade.
"Be careful. Don’t let your guard down just because his Skills don’t work on you," Remarked Ariella warily.
"Don’t worry, I’ve got this handled. This shouldn’t take too long," Smiled Kai, before stepping forward with a grimace as he turned towards the warehouse.

"I told you, didn’t I? That I’d hunt you down and kill you. I gave you my word on that, and I’m here to make good on that promise," I uttered as I stepped into the warehouse, spotting Leto cowering by one of the corners.
"F-Fuck you, man! This shit isn’t fair, just leave me the fuck alone!" He snapped, looking around desperately.
"Don’t bother, there’s no escape. The only way this ends is with your death. And on that note...time to die," I responded, as I shot towards him.
He stumbled in alarm before gritting his teeth as he tightened his grip on his scythe, letting out a desperate yell as he slashed at my head with it as I closed in on him.
I swiftly ducked under the swing of his scythe, before striking his solar plexus with my fist, eliciting a sharp wheeze from him. I then swung my blade up and struck his chin with the flat of the blade, dazing him and sending him stumbling back.
I grabbed his hair and pulled him back, before clamping my hand around the top of his head and triggering Mana Pulse, an excruciating scream of pain ringing out as the whites of his eyes reddened intensely, blood streaming out of every orifice in his face as he gasped in agony.
I then stepped back and lifted my leg, driving my foot out and slamming it against his stomach. He let out a sharp wheeze upon impact, coughing out blood as I launched him back with immense force.
He burst through the wall behind him as he crashed onto it, his back slamming onto the ground outside as he let out a pained cry and tried to sit up, wincing sharply as several splintered bits of wood got lodged in his back.
He froze as I stepped out of the opening in the wall and approached him, a look of despair appearing on his face as tears welled up in his eyes...
