Chapter 735: Undeath

Chapter 735: Chapter 735: Undeath

"N-No, please...please don’t kill me...!" He pleaded desperately, before gasping as I stomped on his chest and pinned him against the ground, raising my blade up.

"Don’t worry. I’ll give you the mercy of finishing you off quickly. Which is better than you deserve. Now, die," I responded icily, a terrified wail ringing our as I plunged my blade down, hitting the middle of his forehead and piercing into his brain.

He body stiffened sharply and shuddered as his eyes rolled back in his head, his body slumping and going limp as I yanked the blade out with a sharp twist.

Blood spurted and streamed out of the hole in his head, his body lifelessly sprawled across the ground. There, it’s done. And with that, this concern that’s been looming over my head ever since the end of the trial is finally gone.

"Yeah, all of us coming here was definitely overkill," Remarked Cleo, as the others walked over.

"We should probably keep this from Ciel. Setting aside how it played out, she won’t take the fact that she was left out well," Pointed out Jaden with a wry smile.

"She should take a page out of Rex’s book, he’d probably thank us for not including him," Added Aria with a chuckle, as I turned around and began to approach them.

"Yeah, true, he’d definitely-...," I began, before trailing off as I suddenly felt a swell of dark, ominous energy behind me, chills running down my spine.

I rapidly spun around, my eyes widening in disbelief as the sight of Leto rising to his feet entered my line of sight, a malevolent energy swirling around him violently.

I gritted my teeth before lunging forward as I drew out Desecrator again, aiming to slice through his neck and take his head off-...suddenly, in the blink of an eye, he swung his scythe across at me with immense speed and power.

I just barely managed to raise my blade up in time, a sharp clang ringing out as the blade of his scythe collided against mine, before the next thing I knew, I found myself hurtling across the air at an alarming pace, before I crashed onto the side of an abandoned building. I fell inside as the wall collapsed upon impact, my back thudding against the floor of the rundown building, puffs of dust rising up around me.

What...the hell just happened?

H-He...he killed me, that piece of shit killed me! Who the fuck does he think he is?! Why...why, why, why, why, why, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY...?!?!?!

I-It’s not fair, damn it, what the hell did I do to deserve this, to suffer across two fucking lives, huh?! Why me, why am I the only one who doesn’t get to be happy, why-...?!

My train of thought was abruptly cut off as a System notification popped up in front of me, my eyes widening...

Point-of-View: Samsara

O-Oh...ohh, no...

"Do you now understand why we were so incensed by your excessive interference in this mortal realm?" Inquired Uranus dryly.

"This does not bode well, the humans of this world face a very real threat of extinction at the hands of this abomination," Added Chronos in exasperation.

"The balance of life and death in this realm may be disrupted beyond repair, it was already unstable as it was, only recently starting to recover. You just had to create an absolute affront to the natural order, didn’t you?" Chimed in Thanatos, the God of Death.

"I-I get it, I screwed up. I misjudged this human and got too carried away with the abilities I included in his System," I responded sheepishly.

"Quite the understatement, Samsara. Did you put any thought into this whatsoever? Did you not even remotely consider the implications of this Undead Immortality Skill? You have created an unkillable being, which goes against the very concept of the mortal realm," Pointed out Thanatos.

"While Kaivel Intrix and Ariella Velle are functionally immortal, they are not unkillable, so their existence is acceptable. But this one goes beyond that, this is true immortality in every sense. And the fact that it is immortality fueled by the very essence of death is an affront to the mortal realm’s laws of nature," Added Chronos.

"I, uh..."

"As we have agreed not to interfere in the mortal realm following the trial, there is nothing we can do about this. We must leave the mortals to face this threat and determine their own fate," Declared Uranus grimly.

"Um...would it be alright if I contact the humans who were subjected to the trial and inform them on exactly what they’re dealing with?" I asked them sheepishly.

"I suppose that is the bare minimum we can allow in letting you clean up this mess of your own making. You may only contact them once."

"This is exactly why we must remain impartial and avoid showing preferential treatment to any mortals. If this brings about the end of this mortal realm, the consequences for your actions will be most severe," Chronos warned me.

"Indeed, you may well be stripped of your role as the God of Reincarnation," Added Uranus.

"...come on, I said I was sorry."

"No, you didn’t."

"Huh? Didn’t I?"
