She snaps her fingers in front of me for a moment and the thing suddenly disappears.

I don’t really understand what’s happening or what that was all about... But at least the fight itself is finally over.

My eyes drift over to the dragon who now lays dead on the ground, every inch of life is gone. It is like his whole body turned grey.

"I’ve never seen that before," Raven speaks up before shifting her attention back to me.

"I don’t really know what happened or what’s happening," I respond softly.

She helps me stand up after that and checks out my wounds from the fight.

"I’ll patch you up a bit before we get out of here," Raven says while pulling out some bandages.

"Thank you," I reply with appreciation in my voice.

I really did kill a dragon today. That is something I didn’t expect to happen... Especially when it felt a lot stronger than me.

Was it underestimating me? That would be the most logical explanation here since it could’ve ended me like the hunter from earlier.

Yet, he just took some steps away from me before fighting again.

(Advice #1) ~Dragons behavior is never the same. Keep that in mind going forward.

I look around for the source of the voice that just talked to me but I don’t see anything at all. It is just Raven and I standing here as she patches me up.

Where the hell did that voice come from and it mentioned something about advice as well. Could it be related to that system thing from before?

That would make the most sense.

"All patched up. But I’m definitely surprised by the outcome since I have never seen a slayer absorb anything from a dragon," Raven says with a shocked expression on her face.

"I am not quite sure what happened myself," I reply.

"Slayers do wield power... but to absorb it is a whole different story," Raven says while trying to make sense of it.

I’m sure the elder might be able to clear this up a bit since they already seemed to know something about me. Even Jun mentioned that I am definitely different.

I am starting to believe them about the whole situation.

Pain slowly interrupts my thoughts for a moment.

"I should be getting back to my elder," I say while walking past her.

"Wait up! I’ll come with you," Raven replies as she catches up to me.

I continue walking as she follows behind me.

"Why would you want to come with me?" I ask with a curious tone.

"I want to see what this elder of yours says about the reaction," Raven answers without any hesitation.

"So it is pure curiosity?" I question.

"That and I don’t think you should be on your own while recovering from such a tough fight," Raven responds.

The walk goes on for an hour as Raven talks about what her possible theories are for what happened back there. Claiming that it could be some sort of divine miracle from the heavens.

I don’t really believe that is the case. I just keep walking as my thoughts keep going all over the place.

Eventually we do reach a spot that we can rest for a little while. It is a small clearing right outside of the forest.

This isn’t close to the cabin or whatever in the slightest. I’ll need to be careful getting back since I don’t know if any other dragons are lurking in the shadows.

Then again... Another slayer is watching my back so I’ll be okay.

~Slayers are definitely good to have watching your back Kain.

Once again I look around for any sign of this strange voice until I come to the realization that it is inside of my head.

I’m hearing voices inside of my own damn head now?

~I don’t have to speak if you prefer silence. It isn’t a problem either way.

For now could you possibly keep quiet until I get some rest... I don’t really have it in me to figure this out with whatever you are right now.

I’d rather enjoy the peace inside of my own head.

~Just call out for me when you’re ready.

The strange voice disappears after that and I help set-up a camp with Raven. The sun is slowly starting to set as we finish getting everything put up.

I take a seat in front of the small campfire we made.

"I forgot to say it since I was caught off guard by the events... But you did a great job for your first hunt Kain," Raven gives me praise as she takes a seat in front of me.

"I appreciate it. I’m still hurting quite a bit from the attacks he landed on me," I respond while looking down at my hands.

My hands shake a bit for a moment before I look back up towards the campfire.

Today I killed a dragon.

It is probably not going to be the last one that I slay, nor will it be easy to kill the others in the future. My path is quite long.

The war is still raging throughout the continent so it would be best to help wherever I can. Slayers will be the biggest advantage the humans have to try to come back from this all.

"What are you thinking about Kain?" Raven asks curiously.

"Just about what’s to come in the future. The war with the dragons is far from over," I answer with a soft tone.

"That’s why we exist," Raven says with more of a serious tone.

I look towards her.

"Exactly why I will do everything in my power to kill them all," I reply with a serious tone as well.

"Will you be capable of killing them, even if they aren’t hostile towards you?" Raven asks.

The one today killed innocent hunters so why would I hesitate? They are still out there hurting our people.

I don’t think I’d have any reason not to kill a dragon.

"I’ll never hesitate to kill one," I assure her.
