I think the Valtor fighting stance might have a lot of potential to go far. I also think it might take some time to adjust to using this stance...

I’ll need to develop some techniques to go along with this fighting stance as well.

~I’d say you are moving along quite well with this stance.

Definitely cannot disagree with you there. I’ve been surprised by how quickly I’m adapting to the moments and even the dragon essence that comes with it.

~It means you are on the right path.

The right path?

~Yes. The path to getting stronger.

Ahh. I definitely plan to follow the path that leads me to getting strong and stronger over time. That has been the plan since I first learned how to fight from Ash.

I know a lot of dragons are out there that need to be slain.

There is no reason more blood needs to be shed... Human blood to be exact. I’ll do my best to help end this damn war against the dragons.

Footsteps begin to approach from behind me so I quickly turn around to see who it is.

This time around it is the Elder coming to speak with me; he appears to be smiling, almost like something major just happened.

"Kain, you really have come a long way in such a short span of time. I’m very happy I got to witness it," The Elder says with happiness in his voice.

I’ve never really seen the Elder happy or anything really... He’s usually been pretty calm and collected. Something that matches his character.

So this is quite odd.

"I’m just doing my best," I reply with a calm tone.

He looks around at all the scorch marks.

"I can definitely notice that. You are learning how to use that new power I see," The Elder says while crossing his arms.

"Of course. I have to make use of it somehow," I reply while glancing towards the scorch marks.

"I think you’re capable of the next hunt Kain," The Elder says with confidence.

The next hunt already? I feel like I’ve barely even been back that long.

I don’t mind going on another one but I haven’t really gotten this stance mastered yet... That’s my biggest concern. I’d like to be able to catch the dragons off guard with something new.

Sigh.

"Why are you sighing Kain?" The Elder asks with curiosity.

"I was hoping to master this stance before heading out so soon," I answer with a serious tone.

He looks at the scorch marks around for a moment again.

"I think you’ll do just fine as is," He says with a confident tone.

"If you say so. I trust your judgement Elder," I reply softly.

I walk past him after that and put the wooden sword back on the rack.

It seems I’ll be saying goodbye to everyone for now. I don’t know if Raven would come with but it might be better to travel by myself.

There’s no telling how many dragons I’ll run into or if I’ll even survive the next hunt.

~The odds might be low, but you still have a chance.

I appreciate the reassurance.

After putting away the wooden sword I head over to collect my normal one. There are some cracks along the edges of it already but it’ll be fine.

I put the sheath back along my waist and make sure it will hold without an issue.

I turn my head slightly to see Raven just entering the shack. She looks a bit worried but it is probably just because slayers are dying every day.

We are a rare thing now.

"So you’re really heading out for a second Hunt?" Raven questions with concern in her voice.

"The Elder believes I’m ready for the next one so I don’t see a reason to wait either. You guys also trained me quite a bit and educated me," I respond with a completely calm tone.

Though I do need to know of this blacksmith she mentioned on the way back here previously. I have never met them, nor do I even know where to find them.

"I might slowly trail behind you... Especially since that sword is going to need to be replaced afterwards," Raven says quietly.

"That’s fine. I’ll need you to introduce me to this blacksmith after," I reply.

She nods.

"So I won’t be far behind. Just don’t die," Raven says with worry in her voice.

"I don’t plan to," I reply with a serious tone.

I walk out past her and look around for Ash since she probably wants to say goodbye as well.

A few minutes go by as I search for her but I don’t really see her anywhere at all.

"Looking for Ash?" The Elder speaks up from behind me.

"Yes," I answer in an instant.

"She’s left for a hunt as well. I apologize that she didn’t get to tell you," The Elder explains.

I look up at the blue sky for a moment.

I wish you luck out on your hunt Ash. It sucks we didn’t get to say goodbye to each other, but at least we’ll be fighting dragons.

It would’ve been nice to see her one last time before leaving for however long this is going to take. There’s also no guarantee that I’m coming back to here either.

I need to actually start traveling the continent after this hunt.

~Correct. Finding a guild would probably be the most ideal so we can gather more hunt information.

Duly noted.

"Well, I’ll be off then Elder. I’ll see you when I return," I say before walking south.

"Good luck Kain. Stay safe out there!" He shouts as I continue walking.

I slowly get further and further away from the shack.

The skies still bright above me so I have plenty of time to continue traveling. It is kind of peaceful this time around.

I wonder how long it’ll take for this peace to disappear. Hopefully it’ll take me quite awhile before I encounter the dragon since the shack is close at the moment.
