After Raven says that, she departs from the inn.
I’m by myself for the first time in awhile... I don’t really know what is the best course of action. Maybe a quest after getting the new sword?
That would probably be the best idea for the time being.
Then again, I don’t really want to take on quests right now when my main goal is to kill dragons. I’m sure there aren’t many quests for killing dragons alone.
We are at war with them so it is pretty hard to just give it out as a question in my opinion.
With that thought I go upstairs to check out the room.
Creak.
I push open the door to see a nice little room with a bed to the right of the room and a few decorative paintings on the left. It feels even cozier in here.
Step. Step.
After closing the door behind me and I make my way over to the bed.
I lay my hand down on the bed and feel the nice wool that the blankets appear to be made from.
A bed this nice is a luxury that a lot of people don’t get to experience. At least not of this quality.
It doesn’t take long for me to get situated on the bed since I’m exhausted.
I stare at the ceiling as I lay here for a moment.
A lot has happened over such a short span of time that I don’t mind having a little bit of peace for once. Especially when peace tends to disappear in the blink of an eye lately.
Maybe this is the opportunity to—
Actually it might be best to avoid that for the time being. The system will always be around as far as I’m aware.
~You are correct with that.
I always appreciate you chiming in when needed.
Silence lingers for a moment before I finally close my eyes and drift off to sleep.
Chirp. Chirp.
I open my eyes to the sight of the sun lighting up my room.
Not a single dream or nightmare to keep me from a full night’s rest, how odd. Usually I am stuck waking up throughout the night lately.
I stretch before getting out of the bed.
~It is good to stay in the best shape possible.
Sigh.
An hour passes by as I clean myself up a bit and prepare for the day. Mostly stretching and practicing a few different swings with my fist.
So I lock up the room and head downstairs to the front counter.
"Here’s the key for the room," I say while placing it onto the desk.
"Thank you. I hope you enjoyed your stay here," The man replies with a genuine tone.
"I definitely did," I say before walking away.
As I push open the doors I can see the streets are even busier than yesterday.
I must’ve come here at a good time yesterday since it wasn’t nearly as packed. This will make my walk to the blacksmith quite interesting since I haven’t really been here long.
Luckily I remember the path there since everything seems to be a pretty straightforward path.
A few different wagons pass by me as I continue to make my way to the blacksmith; each one appears to be carrying a bunch of different goods.
Step. Step. Step.
I continue to listen to everything around me.
"I heard a bunch of dragons were slain in the forest a day ago," A woman speaks with a bit of a serious tone.
"Slayers are definitely doing their job," Another woman responds.
Stomp. Stomp.
Immediately I turn my head to the giant stomping sound I’m hearing.
Standing in front of me is a man wearing heavy silver armor with leather integrated into certain parts of the armor. Mostly the chest piece.
"Are you lost kid?" He asks with a deep voice.
I look up to see he is quite tall, a scruffy black beard, grey eyes, and short ruffled black hair that just barely linger above his eyes.
"I’m not. Just heading to see the blacksmith," I answer with a calm tone.
He chuckles for a moment.
"No need for me to hold you back," He says before stepping out of my way.
"I appreciate it," I reply while walking past him.
I look back for a moment as he continues to move forward. A giant sword is planted on his back.
Maybe he is a slayer as well. I don’t think a sword of that caliber would be very useful against lower tier monsters. Then again, some people prefer to have a bit of overkill.
I couldn’t see myself using a sword that massive against a dragon either.
The agility I have with my current sword is the exact reason I liked it as much as I did. It made it a lot easier to get faster attacks in whenever they charged me.
My current stance and techniques also rely on the smaller blade for the time being.
~A bigger blade wouldn’t be a bad choice if you can master the weight behind each swing.
I just don’t think I’m suited for it right now.
~Nope. It requires a bit more strength than you have at the moment. You should work out and get used to heavier blades.
I’ll keep that suggestion in mind.
CLANG!!! CLANG!!!
The forge is finally in sight and no one else really is around. Everyone else is further into the town towards the other stalls and shops.
"Welcome back Kid!" Balgrim shouts with some excitement in his voice.
He sits down his hammer.
"Thanks. Did you get to finish the sword?" I ask with curiosity in my voice.
"Of course! I wouldn’t keep a slayer waiting," Balgrim responds with a loud tone.
I stand there for a moment as he goes back through a door.
I’m guessing the sword is back there somewhere.
"Alright here we go!" He shouts as he comes back through the door.
He extends his hands out with the sword resting upon them. It is a sleek all black blade with a silver handle and a small blue gem resting towards the bottom.
"What is the gem for?" I question.
"The sword is made from a rare ore known as Rizerthel which is why it is black, the silver handle is just perfect for keeping it light, and the gem is a decorative touch," Balgrim explains.
A decorative touch? I don’t think I mind that much.
