The other slayers step forward after hearing Aaron shout, most tell their names and thank me for helping in the fight.
But the last one who comes forward is a bit different from the others.
"I feel like you should be given a title or something Kain," He speaks up with a serious tone.
Aaron looks surprised at first but then he nods his head in agreement, along with the other slayers.
"I didn’t do that much," I respond with a casual tone.
"You killed a captain by yourself and helped kill multiple dragons as well," He says while staring at me.
I can’t argue with that since I did kill a good bit of dragons along with the captain himself before coming back to the outpost. Wait... It was more like one dragon, then the captain, and one more when I got here.
Sigh.
There is no reason to give any grief over a title though. If other slayers are saying I deserve one, why argue?
"The Crimson Slayer," One of them chimes in.
I really should’ve paid attention to their names.
"Yeah that works! It matches those eyes of his, plus the way I saw him fighting," Another slayer says with excitement.

New Title Acquired
The Crimson Slayer
A slayer whose crimson gaze has been witnessed by dragons and slayers alike.

~Seems like you finally have a title to put on the stats screen.
Lovely.
Sylvia playfully bumps my arm.
"Congratulations Crimson Slayer," She teases as the others start to celebrate.
"It is definitely something to get used to," I reply with more of a laid-back tone.
I think my brain is still reeling back after all of the fighting I did today. I definitely can feel the exhaustion hitting me hard right now.
"Cheers to victory and the crimson slayer!!" Aaron shouts as he lifts his sword into the air.
They all follow and raise their swords into the air.
I don’t really need the praise... I would’ve killed dragons regardless of getting it or not.
But it isn’t the worst thing in the world.
~Sometimes people will do it regardless of if you want it or not Kain. It is earned right now, that’s all you need to know.
I scratch my head as I look at them all cheering.
Maybe I’m just coming down from all of the adrenaline from the battle since I am having a hard time reacting to this all. The dragon essence manifestation was also quite taxing after using it for the first time.
~Yes it was. Don’t worry though, some much needed rest will help.
Right. I’ll have to find time to get rest soon then.
We all celebrated victory with some drinks and food before cleaning up some of the mess around the outpost. You can definitely tell that the dragons ran through this place a good bit.
Some bodies had to be cleaned up, debris from the outpost itself, and disposing of the dragons corpses.
It was definitely quite the workout after all of the fighting we did, but it was worth it.
That took about two to three hours...
But now I can finally take in what this outpost truly looks like after getting everything cleaned and moved out of the way.
It is a small place with a bunch of tents, weapons, armor, and it is all surrounded by some walls with cannons mounted on the top.
A few ripped flags also hang throughout the outpost but I can’t really make out what the symbol is.
"It is quite place," Aaron speaks up from behind me.
I turn around.
"Yeah. I am honestly surprised to see such a place standing like it is," I respond with a bit of a surprised tone.
"Slayers are good at holding their ground... Well, most of the time haha," Aaron says before letting out a small laugh.
"We definitely held our ground today," I reply while looking around at everything again.
Aaron lets out another laugh before placing a hand onto my shoulder.
"To think you are supposed to be a new slayer," Aaron says in a joking manner.
"I am still new to this but dragon killing is pretty straightforward," I reply with a casual tone.
Footsteps approach once again and they are coming from behind Aaron; within a few moments I can see that it is Sylvia once again.
I’ve started to notice she shows up pretty quick since we began traveling together. I don’t mind it, but it is definitely interesting to notice.
"So what are we chatting about over here?" Sylvia asks as she leans forward with her arms behind her back.
"Slayers and how they hold their ground," I answer before Aaron can.
He moves his hand away from my shoulder before stepping out of the way to see us both.
"That is pretty accurate. I’m glad you both were heading this way," Aaron says with relief in his voice.
"We did make a difference being here it seems," Sylvia replies.
Fighting here today with a bunch of other slayers was definitely quite an interesting experience. I got to learn what it is like to fight alongside new allies.
I’m also starting to understand more about the war as time continues to pass.
That and dragons actually having ranks is all kind of crazy to think about... Especially when I realize the fact that I killed a captain on my own.
It was a very intense battle for me.
~The captain was definitely more experienced than you but you managed to adapt enough to beat him.
Along with the dragon essence manifestation, that made a killer combo with everything I did. In the future I want to see how much further I can get with my dashes.
It’ll be a great way to enhance my abilities in fights.
~That is the whole purpose of using it.
Exactly.
"I just want you both to know that I’ll be heading back to Hyvale now," Aaron says with a calm tone now.
"Ahh. I don’t blame you for heading back," Sylvia replies with an understanding tone.
"Just need to collect some money," Aaron says with his usual tone.
At least he isn’t serious all the time, but I couldn’t put on a smile like him.
