I lay back down.
"What was the dream about?" Sylvia asks curiously.
Would she even understand if I told her...? Or maybe she’d see me as a fool.
That might sound stupid but what person has dreams about places he’s never been to yet? It definitely isn’t a normal thing by any means and I don’t want to seem like I am crazy.
"I’ll have to tell you more about it later when we wake up again," I respond while closing my eyes.
She doesn’t push the conversation and just lays her head down on my chest.
Black flames, destroyed towers, an unfamiliar dragon, and a kingdom in ruin.
That is not a normal dream or nightmare.
That last thought goes through my mind as I drift off once again. No other dreams or nightmares plague me for the time being as I open my eyes to the sight of the sun shining into the tent.
I slowly look over at Sylvia who is still asleep.
Is someone just messing with me? Absolutely nothing happened when I went back to sleep... Yet I can’t shake this strange feeling in my chest.
~Did that dream really feel that real?
It felt like I was actually there experiencing everything in person. I don’t know why I saw anything.
~Hmm. I’ll have to look into it a bit myself as I haven’t experienced this before.
I don’t know what to expect from your findings but this isn’t the first time I’ve had a dream like this. Just last time it wasn’t as serious.
It felt more like a warning than anything else and you even gave me the exact warning I had in the dream.
~I don’t recall you discussing this with me before. You should have told me after you had the first one.
It didn’t seem like a big deal at the time. I think people see things sometimes so I figured it could be normal. There was someone in my village like that and she ended up being right...
~I guess someone having foresight is possible.
Foresight?
~Future predictions. I can’t say for certain that you are experiencing this but it does sound like it. Again, I’ll look into this a bit.
The system goes silent after that while I lay here for a bit longer.
Sylvia lets out a yawn as she sits up.
"Good morning," Sylvia says as she stretches.
"Morning," I reply quietly.
I look up to see her a couple inches away from my face again.
"Yeah, something is definitely bothering you right now," Sylvia says with a serious look in her eyes.
Without thinking I back up a bit and lift one hand to scratch my head.
"I’m just focused on getting ahead today," I reply with a nervous tone.
"That is definitely not it," Sylvia says while staring at me closely.
I don’t think she is going to let this down so I might just have to tell her about the dream itself...
She stares for a moment longer.
With that stare I finally begin explaining the dream I had, she doesn’t say a single word as I tell her all about it. It only takes me a couple minutes.
"I don’t think I have ever seen black flames from a dragon before," Sylvia says while sitting in front of me.
"That’s why it confuses me even more," I reply while looking down towards the ground.
"You also saw Aerithel burning which is directly ahead of us," Sylvia says with some concern in her voice.
She doesn’t appear to be panicking about anything here... Just thinking about what is the best thing to do. She also hasn’t called me crazy once yet.
"Should we just continue for the kingdom as if nothing is wrong?" I ask with more of a serious tone.
"Honestly we should keep our guard up more if anything," Sylvia responds.
"That is probably the best idea," I say while standing up.
She stands up after I do and we begin packing everything up. All a very quick process as we make it look like we were never here.
None of this explains the rumbling we experienced before. That doesn’t feel connected to the dream at all.
What happened back in the Hollows? That’s something I really want to know.
Grab!
Sylvia grabs hold of my arm and begins to drag me along.
"Stop zoning out, let’s go dummy," Sylvia says while continuing to drag me along.
A couple minutes of her dragging me along passes by as we approach a small worn down bridge. It looks like people haven’t gone across it in centuries.
"You want to cross that?" I question while looking down at her.
Often lately I end up forgetting that she is shorter than me so I have to look down to see her properly.
"Of course. As long as you know how to swim, it’ll be fine," Sylvia answers with a carefree tone.
I notice she is smiling as she finishes that sentence.
~You do know how to swim, right?
It was something that I learned back in the village as we did go out to a small lake once in awhile. That was the only time I think we actually left the village.
Then again, it wasn’t a far walk whatsoever.
~That answer will suffice.
"Do you want me to go first?" Sylvia asks as she stands in front of me.
I look behind her at the bridge before speaking.
I don’t think it’ll be that bad. It’ll also look bad if I make her go first...
"Nope. I’ll cross the bridge first," I answer.
Sylvia moves out of the way in an instant as I begin to approach the bridge.
Splash!
Water splashes against the rocks underneath it as the river continues to flow like normal. The bridge itself is definitely quite old but it doesn’t look like it is impossible to cross.
Actually, it is mostly in tact from what I can see right now.
Step. Step.
Here goes nothing.
