Slayer: I Kill All Dragons For Power

Chapter 69: On The Aerithel Border [2]

It feels as if everything around me stops moving. The system is completely silent, Sylvia is no longer moving, and I’m unable to move myself.

I don’t really understand what’s happening right now but this is really strange. It is almost like someone just snapped a finger and everything stopped.

Seriously?

Footsteps suddenly begin to approach as I see a woman slowly starting to appear in front of me.

She is wearing an elegant white dress with short curly white hair and glowing pink eyes with these strange spirals within her pupils. I can also notice a slightly disgusted look across her face.

After a few more steps she ends up in front of me.

"The other person who was gifted a system and it is a human," She says with disgust in her voice.

She hunches over slightly while looking into my eyes.

I don’t really understand why this is happening all of a sudden but this woman is definitely not a dragon... Right? If dragons were capable of this, the war would be over.

She is something beyond what I could probably comprehend.

It is the most logical conclusion at the moment. She froze time around me so obviously she has to be some form of divine being.

Snap.

After snapping her finger I can feel the ability to move return to me.

Without thinking my hand reaches down to my sword and I draw it immediately.

"Cute. I do think a panicking human is quite interesting," She says while stepping back a few feet.

"What are you?!" I question with a serious tone.

She turns around.

"I feel like it is obvious," She responds. "I’m just checking on something quickly."

"Checking on what exactly?" I ask while gripping my sword tighter.

"The system that resides within you," She answers without hesitation.

The system that’s been talking to me non-stop about everything that I tend to think about... Well, maybe not everything. It does talk to me quite a bit though.

It is also very knowledgeable with some things.

"Is something wrong with it?" I question while keeping an eye on her.

"I believe it should be taken care of now," She responds with a soft tone.

"Also the act isn’t working... I already know how disgusted you are by the fact that I’m human," I say with a serious tone in my voice still.

In an instant she appears in front of me again, a sinister smile across her face.

"Yes they truly do disgust me. But you are using something unique and I want to see where it leads," She replies as the smile remains across her face.

This woman is definitely quite intimidating... Especially if she is a divine being of sorts. I don’t want to piss her off or I might end up dying sooner than I’d like.

Snap.

She snaps her fingers again and everything begins to resume before she disappears. The sinister smile still on her face as I watch her fade away.

~That is odd. I can’t remember what I was about to say.

The probability of us slaying dragons that come here maybe?

~Ah, that is what I remember last. The probability of that is about 50%.

Is that good?

~Means it can go either way.

I give a shrug before turning towards Sylvia.

"That’s weird," Sylvia says with a bit of concern in her voice.

"What’s weird?" I ask.

"Everything felt like it stopped for a moment but I could still see ahead of us," Sylvia answers with a quiet tone.

So it wasn’t just me that felt everything that just happened... She was also well aware that the world had come to a complete stop.

I don’t really want to think about it too much if she has a connection to the system inside of my head. It’ll just lead to more problems than I am capable of handling right now.

~You met another woman?

Nope. I was just imagining things for a moment as the world felt off.

Step. Step. Step.

I drag Sylvia along as the walls of Aerithel appear in the distance.

"Best to focus on getting into Aerithel," I say with a calm and collected tone.

"Right. Right. I don’t know what came over me there," Sylvia replies as she starts to walk on her own.

The walls in the distance are a lot higher than the towers we walked past initially. They also appear to be made out of some sort of silver which looks reinforced by a strange glowing blue material.

Aerithel might use magic for some sort of fortification on the walls. That gives me some more perspective on the world.

I didn’t think much about magic until the system mentioned it earlier when I was thinking about dragons. Now it is all starting to make a lot more sense to me.

Veronica also used magic to make that gun that she fired at the dragons. Why didn’t I think about magic then?

~It probably slipped your mind since there hasn’t been much mentioned about it.

That would explain it. I haven’t met anyone since Veronica that can actively use magic like she did.

I’ll have to study more about it whenever I have the chance to do so, or maybe Sylvia knows some stuff about magic. I’d like to understand it better so that it can become a potential weapon.

"Kain are you excited to see the kingdom?" Sylvia asks, taking me out from my thoughts.

"It is a bit exciting," I answer honestly.

"We’ll get to see a lot of different things once we get through the main gates," Sylvia says with excitement in her voice.

"Do you think we’ll have any issues getting in?" I ask with a curious tone.

"Nope. We are slayers so we’ll probably have it quite easy," Sylvia answers with confidence.

So slayers don’t have much of a struggle to enter kingdoms? How do they know a dragon isn’t impersonating a slayer somehow...?

I might just be overthinking it a bit.
