Everything around us feels massive.
Sylvia begins to pull me along, all while I’m looking at everything around us. All different kinds of people wandering the streets around me.
None of them are paying attention to us in the slightest.
I didn’t think it would be this massive or filled with so many people... But it might be dumb to think that. Of course a kingdom would be filled with people.
My thoughts might be a bit messy after...
I don’t finish that thought, instead I focus on the group passing by in front of us. All of them are wearing leather armor with chainmail just barely showing underneath.
"This place really is busy," Sylvia speaks up.
My eyes remain on the guys until they pass by us.
"It is. I don’t really know why I’m surprised," I respond while slightly glancing over my shoulder.
Something about those guys bother me, but I can’t exactly place why that is.
~Caution is never a bad thing.
I just wish I didn’t need to be cautious like this all the time. It would be nice to just enjoy some peace of mind.
Then again, even normal people can be considered dangerous I guess. That hasn’t been something I’ve experienced yet but I’m sure I will eventually.
"That shop ahead might not be a bad place to stop at," Sylvia says while pointing towards a shop with a symbol of a sword on the sign above it.
"We can check it out," I reply quietly.
"Yay!" Sylvia shouts with excitement.
We make our way over to the shop and immediately I notice a bunch of weapons hanging outside of the door. All of them are weapons I’d probably never need though.
I briefly glance down towards my sword.
My current sword is definitely more than enough. These ones are no better than the old one that I used to have.
~Because you are a slayer so it is kind of different.
Different how?
~Not everyone needs a sword capable of withstanding the rough skin of a dragon. Most just need them for a basic way to protect themselves against monsters or other people.
That explanation actually makes a lot more sense than I expected.
"Hello!! I see you both are looking at my weapons!" An energetic man shouts as he opens up the door to his shop.
"They are pretty interesting," Sylvia replies.
It feels obvious that she is lying because these weapons look basic... Unless she really does think they are interesting. But they all look pretty plain to me.
I must be used to the new sword already.
My eyes dart around, taking in each weapon that is hanging around in front of me.
Yeah, I’m not an expert or anything but I wouldn’t use these. It is a good thing that I don’t need a weapon as well since I still don’t have any money.
That is something I completely forgot about.
I’ll need to start earning my way or else I won’t be able to fend for myself at some point.
Everyone else has been covering my way whenever we are in a town or some place that requires it. I will definitely do my best to earn.
~Quests. The exact thing you were looking at in Hyvale is probably what you could do for money.
I’ll have to accept that I can’t only fight against dragons all the time though. But money is a necessary thing to have in life.
"So what kind of weapon are you thinking of getting?" The man asks with a cheerful tone in his voice.
"I don’t believe I’ll be buying one just yet. We have only just entered the kingdom today so I’ll have to come back," Sylvia responds politely.
"Ahh! I see. I hope you enjoy your stay then! Don’t forget to come back to my shop!" He shouts with the same enthusiasm as before.
He walks back into his shop after that and I can just hear people slightly whispering as they walk past.
"I can’t believe newcomers didn’t buy a weapon here," A woman whispers.
"Yeah it is kind of rude," Another woman whispers back.
They continue on for a minute before they finally pass by completely.
I don’t think it is rude to skip out on a purchase when you don’t need a weapon right now. Perhaps newcomers always buy stuff when they come into the kingdom?
Otherwise I think all of that whispering is really stupid.
~I believe those people probably are the locals of the kingdom. It means that they are going to expect more from outsiders.
I believe most villages are also that way since we were a very close to each other. Nothing passed through the village without anyone knowing.
Safe to say secrets were never really secrets around there. Nobody really had anything to hide anyway so it didn’t matter.
"You coming Kain?" Sylvia asks.
I look towards her to realize she’s already moving away from the shop.
"Yes, I’m coming," I answer while following behind her.
The feeling of someone watching me only continues as we get further into the busy streets. It is unclear what we’re looking for at the moment since Sylvia is leading the way.
An hour of aimlessly walking around goes by...
I checked out a bunch of shops that I probably won’t go back to during the walk but nothing really stood out. Most shops just had a mix of items that I’d probably never use in my life.
Sylvia found some new clothes to wear though so that is nice.
"Finding the guild hall here would probably be smart," Sylvia says while walking.
"The quests could be useful right about now..." I reply.
"Do you need them that bad?" Sylvia asks with a bit of concern in her voice.
"I don’t really have money," I answer honestly.
She just chuckles for a moment as we both stop walking.
"I’ll help with that, but let’s find the guild hall," Sylvia says as she finishes laughing.
