The streets only get busier as we continue to make our way through them. It is almost like we came during some sort of festival... Or do kingdoms just have this kind of traffic all the time?
I stop in my tracks for a moment, taking in everything once again. A lot of the buildings are pretty tall, so tall that the sun is kind of blocked out in some spots.
It is interesting to see all of the different types of materials they used to make the various buildings too.
Some are brick, while some follow the cobblestone that the towers use, and even some wooden ones linger about.
"Kain!" Sylvia calls out.
I turn to see her a couple feet away.
"Sorry I just got distracted by the architecture," I respond loud enough for her to hear me.
Quickly I catch up to her before continuing forward.
I definitely think it is hard not to get distracted in a beautiful kingdom like this. It feels so lively, just like Hyvale was.
This is a breath of fresh air... One that I definitely needed after all of the chaos in the last week or two. But... I’m on edge with everything too.
Refreshing yet dangerous. A terrible combo when dealing with things that are far beyond my reach.
~What is beyond your reach Kain?
Ahhh. Sorry, a lot of things since I’m not the strongest yet.
~Your thoughts have been quite jumbled up since that strange instance we had.
It is nothing. I’m just realizing that I need a lot more strength still, that’s all.
Strength is the only way I’ll continue to push the dragons back until we finally win the war against them. So peace is beyond reach for me is what I’m saying.
~At least temporary peace exists. The kingdom here being a prime example of it.
Yes, it is quite a beautiful place. I still don’t trust everything about it.
Dragons are planning an attack... I don’t know when that will happen. That is the biggest problem here.
There is a bad feeling in my gut about some of the people in the kingdom here and about the damn dragon attack. It almost feels like they could be connected in some way.
"I found a sign!" Sylvia shouts as she points towards it.
I glance over to see a sign with an arrow pointing ahead that says "To The Shining Emerald".
"It appears we found the way to the guild hall, right?" I question with a bit of confusion.
I don’t really know what other place would have a name like that.
"Yes! It is the correct place since I remember them talking about it a few times in Hyvale," Sylvia responds confidently.
"I trust you either way," I say with a laid-back tone.
"Then come on!" Sylvia shouts as she begins to run.
Running when we can just walk...
I begin running behind her for a while until we reach the guild hall building. It sticks out amongst everything else in this district of the kingdom.
It appears to be made of this beautiful white marble with two giant pillars that sit on both sides of the door, holding up the small roof above it.
In the center of the building is exactly what tells me why it has the name....
A giant green emerald is in the center of the building with the name above it. A few windows also look out past it but I don’t see anyone in them.
Outside of the guild hall is pretty lively as well.
I can see lots of people with various armor, different heights, physical builds, and even some different races like back in Hyvale.
I’m happy to see that there isn’t any problems with all the different races of the world in each place I’ve been. It gives me some hope that peace can be achieved between everyone.
Only if we could make the dragons understand that.
That alone would save a lot of lives on both fronts of the war. Sadly, I don’t think that’ll ever be the case. Wars happen for different reasons all the time...
I learned that from Sylvia telling me about the other continents.
~Lets be grateful the war here is only with dragons.
I’m definitely grateful about that but not at the same time. They are very strong monsters that take a lot to kill so... It makes me wonder if it would’ve been better for them to just be humans.
Like if it was just a war between humans here as well.
~War will never be easier or better just because of the difference in a race or the species attacking.
Got me there.
~Just don’t overthink it. Focus on killing dragons and getting stronger Kain.
I was already doing that regardless.
Yank!
Sylvia quickly pulls me closer as we both stand before the building still.
"Isn’t it amazing!" Sylvia shouts with happiness and excitement in her voice.
I can hear some of the other people around the entrance talking about us but I don’t mind.
"It is," I respond with a casual tone.
I slightly glance over towards them for a moment, making eye contact with one of them.
It is a woman with long blue hair that is staring back at me with a disgusted look on her face. Probably not a fan of newcomers like us.
It is better to just ignore them. Especially if I don’t mind what they are whispering about, why bother looking at them anyway?
"I think we should head inside," I suggest.
"Yes. I agree with you," Sylvia responds as she walks towards the door.
I keep one hand close to my sword as we walk past some of the people by the entrance. Each of them rubs me the wrong way so I don’t want to take any chances.
We’re all supposed to be adventurers but they don’t feel very welcoming.
In fact, it kind of feels like they see us as a threat.
