Creak!

Sylvia pushes open the door.

I don’t know what to expect with everything I’m already noticing with the people around us. Hopefully it is better inside.

The door opens up to a giant open hall with a bunch of adventurers wearing different armor, all of them talking.

Inside of the hall it is a nice all black marble, way different than the white they used outside. The chairs and tables also look quite comfortable.

"This place is so nice," Sylvia says in awe.

I glance around as I close the door behind us.

At least nobody here is really looking towards us right now... That is kind of hopeful. After the adventurers outside I didn’t know what to expect in here.

~I would stay cautious.

That is already the intention but do you notice something I don’t?

~Just the intent a lot of people have. It isn’t necessarily towards you but a lot of them could try to kill you both.

My hand grips the handle of my sword as I follow behind Sylvia.

"I see the quest board Kain," Sylvia speaks once again.

"That’s exactly what we are looking for," I reply calmly.

After a few more steps we reach the quest board where I can see everything that’s posted. From monsters hunts to dealing with bandits.

Goblins, skeletons, bandits, and some quest about a slayer? Why would they have something about one of us here?

"I wouldn’t worry about that one too much," Sylvia suggests.

"Why?" I question.

She takes another look at the quest.

"Because the quest itself is a couple of years old so the guy is either dead or hiding really well," Sylvia answers before she continues to scan through the other quests.

A quest that old is just sitting on the board still... That doesn’t really feel like it is a good sign to me. A slayer being on the quest board as someone that needs to be dealt with, yeah that’s terrible.

I look away from that quest and finally check out one related to this small town known as Driften.

[Attacks In Driften]

People have been reporting a lot of bandit attacks within the town of Driften over the last few days, each one gets worse. There is also rumors of a potential slayer that is running with these bandits.

If the problem can be handled, just provide proof of completion and you’ll be rewarded.

Reward: 1000 Silvi.

—————

Silvi? I guess that is what the money is called. I didn’t really think about it much since that hasn’t been something I have.

Silvi. Got it.

The quest about Driften honestly sounds like our best option here. People are being attacked by bandits and a potential slayer... So that might be a good opportunity to get two birds with one stone.

"Driften," Sylvia says while noticing the quest I’m looking at.

"Sounds like they could definitely use a hand," I reply with a serious tone.

"Then we should accept this quest and get a move on," Sylvia says while taking the paper down from the board.

The chatter around us suddenly goes quiet as we take the quest down. Some footsteps also begin to approach.

Fighting against actual humans isn’t really something I did yet, but I hope the people in this hall won’t be the first time. I’d definitely rather the bandits be my encounter with humans.

Especially when we are all working towards goals of wiping out different problems here.

I slightly glance over my shoulder to see a few guys walking over to us. Each one has a different expression on his face. One looks disgusted, another looks carefree, and the last one appears to have a serious expression.

Surprisingly the system doesn’t say anything about this either.

"I think that’s our sign to get going," Sylvia says with caution in her voice.

"Couldn’t agree more," I reply as I turn towards the door.

Immediately we both walk towards the door as the footsteps continue to follow behind us.

Without any hesitation I pull open the door and Sylvia quickly heads out in front of me. I don’t waste any time, I just keep following behind her.

As we head outside I can see the same group from before staring right at us again.

The girl still has that disgusted look on her face but I don’t care.

Step. Step. Step.

"People here are really rude," Sylvia says quietly.

"I’ve noticed," I reply while walking.

"Newcomers are not their favorites in the slightest," Sylvia says.

Bump!!!

I immediately bump into someone since I’m not fully paying attention to the path in front of me. My eyes were locked on the people behind us that appear to have a problem.

"Oh, the dragon soul guy," A familiar voice says with a bit of shock.

Within seconds I turn to see I bumped into the reaper from the forest. Leon.

"You did say we’d probably see him again soon," Amelia chimes in.

"That I did," Leon responds with a laid-back tone.

His grey eyes look past me towards the people behind us.

"I didn’t mean to bump into you," I say with a respectful tone.

I don’t have any fear of this man but I do have a lot of questions about what he is capable of doing. Reapers aren’t exactly someone you want as an enemy either.

At least that’s what Sylvia told me about on the walk.

"I’m not bothered by that. I am bothered by the assholes behind you," Leon responds loud enough for them to hear.

I notice he has more of a serious expression on his face now too.

"Do we really have to address them Leon?" Amelia asks with a sigh following afterwards.

"Yes. No one here is an enemy so I want to know what the problem is," Leon answers as he takes a step past me.

I look back at the group to see them still standing there, but they aren’t saying a single thing.
