A huge gust of wind blows past as the dragon comes crashing down onto the road.

THUD!!!!!

I brace myself as the wind and some dust blows past us.

"I hope you’re ready for the fight Kain."

Without hesitation I draw my sword but Laz puts his arm out to keep me from moving.

"Not yet."

"Why?" I question.

"We work as a team out here. Just wait for them to signal us."

That will definitely take some getting used to since I prefer just taking care of the problem myself.

~Having help will be a big difference that you might appreciate.

We’ll definitely see about that.

The sound of heavy footsteps rushing through the forest is all I hear until I finally see some slayers burst out from the other side of the road.

I watch patiently for a moment as the dragon looks like it is about to let out some sort of breath attack.

Purple flames begin to explode out from its mouth.

"Are you sure we need to wait?!?!" I ask with a bit of concern in my voice.

"Have some faith in the other slayers," Laz responds calmly.

I watch for a bit longer as the flames collide with some sort of barrier that I can’t see.

Magic? I completely forgot about the slayers who could actually use it.

That explains why Laz isn’t really worried about the attack that is being directed towards them. If I would’ve charged in... That could have been bad.

I need to start thinking differently if I want to survive out here. It is nothing like the fights I dealt with near Hyvale or even back near the shack.

"Alright now!" Laz shouts as he begins to run towards the dragon.

Without any sort of hesitation I follow behind him.

My eyes dart around as I look forward where Sylvia is, but it doesn’t take long for me to spot her. She is only a little bit behind us to the right.

~Caution is still heavily advised.

Got it.

The flames finally disperse and the slayers in front of us also begin to rush the dragon.

"Everyone brace for the next attack!!!" Onyx shouts with a serious tone.

Immediately I realize its tail is coming right towards us.

PUSH!!!

I push Laz out of the way as the tail reaches where he would’ve been.

WHAM!!!!

There wasn’t time for me to dodge it.

Pain shoots through my stomach as I hold myself in place. I look down to see blood slowly dropping onto the floor, yet I can still move right now.

I quickly lift my sword up.

PIERCE!!!!!

Green blood begins to spray out from its tail as I continue to drive my blade through it.

I don’t think any slayer is just withstanding a tail like this usually. How did I?

SLASH!!!!! TEAR!!!

Finally I tear my blade out through the bottom of its tail and it stumbles back before letting out another deafening roar.

"Great attack Kain!!!" Onyx shouts.

"Yes! Let’s keep up the pressure!" Another slayer shouts.

I stand still for a second as the pain lingers in my stomach.

Attacks like that are exactly what determine life and death. I’m lucky to be alive right now, but this can’t be a consistent thing.

Tanking an attack isn’t always smart. Damnit.

I’ll need to take a moment while they continue to push the dragon back. But I also need the strength...

Grip!!!

"Kain!!!" Sylvia shouts from behind me.

Footsteps continue to get closer until I finally hear them stop next to me.

"Are you okay?!?" Sylvia asks with concern in her voice.

"I’m fine. The fight isn’t over yet."

"Kain you don’t have to push yourself, we have multiple slayers here."

It isn’t just about pushing myself... It is about getting stronger. I need to be strong enough to face that dragon or else a lot of people are going to die...

"I promise, I’m fine."

She still looks at me with a concerned look on her face, but she knows it isn’t worth arguing about.

"Fine. Let’s go."

She begins to walk ahead of me.

Flash!!!

Everything around me is suddenly engulfed by black flames with the same dragon from before standing in the distance. Bodies lay all around me.

None of this is real. I need to focus back on the fight in front of me, not this damn vision that I keep dealing with. There isn’t time for this.

He suddenly appears right in front of me.

"To think a slayer would still be standing after all of this."

He places his hand onto my shoulder.

"I must give you credit for surviving everything here but this is where we end the battle."

Immediately I look down to see a blade is in my stomach.

Pain immediately jolts throughout my body as I begin to feel like I’m suffocating.

W...What the hell is this...?

Everything disappears in an instant after that. Ahead I can see Sylvia is just about to reach the dragon that the others are fighting against right now.

Shake. Shake.

I really need to get this vision stuff sorted out soon. It can’t be happening like this every single time I’m in a battle.

~You are seeing more visions?

Yes. It is getting worse... This one felt a lot more real than the other ones.

~What made it feel real?

The pain and suffocating I felt from the dragon in the visions. I’m not liking the way this looks, if it is actually a real thing.

I will not fall to that bastard no matter what and he won’t be burning down the kingdom of Aerithel. I’ll do everything in my power to ensure that it won’t happen.

After that last thought I grip my sword even tighter as I go into the Valtor stance.

Back to helping with the dragon.

DASH!!!!

In seconds I find myself ahead of Sylvia and without thinking I bring my sword upwards.

CLANG!!!!
