SS Awakening: My Monster Merging System!
Chapter 260: Training In Another World[2]"I can only summon four for now," he said. "I left one behind."
He raised his right hand. Four black summoning formations appeared one after another in front of the silver circle, and dense death energy surged out from within them. Soon, four undead skeleton soldiers wielding bone weapons appeared on the ice.
[Undead Skeleton Soldier Lv.1]
The moment all four skeleton soldiers finished materializing, Razeil raised her palm. Four fist sized blue ice crystals rose from the ground and landed in their hands.
"Have them enter the four ice paths separately, place the ice crystals in their hands beneath the black ice pillars at the ends of the paths, and then have all of them return here."
"That simple?"
"Of course not."
Razeil looked toward the ice sculptures positioned along both sides of the five paths.
"From the moment they enter the ice paths, the ice puppets along the way will gradually awaken and obstruct them. All of the puppets have had their strength restricted to around Level 20, and they will not actually destroy your summons."
"During this time, you cannot leave the circle beneath your feet, you cannot verbally issue any commands, and you cannot open your eyes to observe the situation outside. You can only control them through the connection between you and your summons."
Zich looked at the five completely separate paths.
"If I can only judge the situation through the senses transmitted back by my summons, then the four paths are essentially four completely different battlefields."
"Correct."
"Four Level 1 skeleton soldiers against Level 20 ice puppets along the way?"
"Your task is not to kill them. Your task is to control the skeleton soldiers, evade their attacks, and complete the objective."
Razeil paused briefly before continuing, "Of course, if you believe your control is not as crude as I said, you can prove it right now."
Zich glanced at her, then directly closed his eyes.
Everything around him immediately fell into darkness.
He did not immediately order the four skeleton soldiers to move. Instead, he sank his consciousness into the connections between them, attempting to go beyond simply sensing their positions and conditions as he usually did and receive the information they themselves could perceive.
At first, all that returned to him were four faint and blurry soul fluctuations.
But as Zich continued concentrating, four slightly dim images gradually unfolded within his consciousness.
They were the worlds seen through the eyes of the four skeleton soldiers.
Because they did not possess the visual organs of normal living beings, everything they saw lacked vivid color. There were only the glows emitted by different lifeforms and forms of energy, along with rough black and white outlines of the objects around them.
If he received only one of these images, Zich did not find it particularly difficult.
But when four images from four completely different directions flooded into his consciousness at the same time, his previously clear perception immediately descended into chaos. Even the direction of his own physical body became blurry for a brief moment.
"Begin."
Razeil’s voice came from beside him.
The four skeleton soldiers moved simultaneously, each entering one of the four ice paths ahead.
There were no problems during the first few dozen meters. Zich only needed to keep the four skeleton soldiers moving forward, and there was no need to issue any particularly complicated commands.
However, the moment they traveled nearly fifty meters into the ice paths, an ice wolf statue beside the first path suddenly opened its eyes. The layer of ice covering its body instantly shattered, and it lunged directly toward the nearest skeleton soldier.
Zich quickly controlled the first skeleton soldier to dodge sideways.
Almost at the same moment, two humanoid ice puppets rose from the ground on the third path, blocking another skeleton soldier from both the front and rear.
Meanwhile, a row of sharp ice spikes suddenly erupted from beneath the fourth path.
Three changes occurred almost simultaneously.
Zich had just shifted most of his attention toward the first skeleton soldier when the third skeleton soldier’s movements briefly paused. A humanoid puppet charging directly toward it struck it in the chest with a punch, sending its body flying backward.
He immediately split his consciousness to control the third skeleton soldier and adjust its body, but the ice spikes on the fourth path had already completely emerged from the ground. The skeleton soldier that had not received a new command in time continued stepping forward according to its previous instructions, and its foot became trapped between the ice spikes on the spot.
The blue ice crystal in its hand fell to the ground and shattered.
Crack!
Every ice puppet that had just awakened stopped moving simultaneously.
"Open your eyes."
Zich opened his eyes, and the four overlapping images within his consciousness rapidly disappeared.
Razeil glanced at the time. "Twenty seven seconds."
From the moment the four skeleton soldiers entered the ice paths until the first ice crystal fell, not even half a minute had passed.
"Do you still think there was something wrong with my evaluation?"
"Again." Zich did not answer her question. Instead, he directly controlled the four skeleton soldiers to return to the front of the silver circle.
Razeil did not refuse. Under the influence of her power, the shattered ice crystal reformed, while the fallen ice puppets along the paths returned to their original positions.
The second training attempt quickly began.
With the experience from the previous attempt, Zich no longer distributed his attention evenly. Instead, he memorized the locations of the first three attacks in advance, preparing to have the skeleton soldiers dodge before the ice puppets could awaken.
But this time, the order of the ice puppets’ attacks changed completely.
The second path was attacked first, followed immediately by the fourth and first paths, and even the methods of attack were different from before. Clearly, the entire training ground did not use a fixed attack pattern.
Forty one seconds later, the second ice crystal shattered.
Third attempt, fifty three seconds.
Fourth attempt, one minute and seven seconds.
After the fifth attempt began, Zich finally managed to have one skeleton soldier break through the first section of its path. However, before it could approach the distant black ice pillar, problems appeared on two other paths at the same time, and in the end, he could only start over again.
As the training continued to repeat, Zich finally understood completely why Razeil had described his control methods as extremely crude.
