SS Awakening: My Monster Merging System!

Chapter 261: Training In Another World [3] (Fixed)

As the training continued to repeat, Zich finally understood why Razeil had described his control methods as extremely crude.

In previous battles, although he could issue different commands to different summons, those commands were usually very simple, and every battle always revolved around one primary objective.

The Silverback Ape Warrior was responsible for attacking from the front, the Blood Leech searched for opportunities to launch sneak attacks, Slimy remained nearby to defend, while Iron relied on its own strength to suppress the enemy.

Their roles appeared clearly divided, but in reality, Zich had only decided their tasks in advance. The rest of the battle still depended on the abilities and awareness of the summons themselves.

The four Undead Skeleton Soldiers before him were different.

They were only Level 1, and their own combat awareness was extremely limited. If Zich did not issue a new command in time, they would simply continue carrying out their previous actions. Even if danger appeared ahead, they would not change direction on their own.

Whenever all four ice paths changed simultaneously, the moment Zich focused his attention on one skeleton soldier, problems would easily arise with the other three.

The sixth training attempt lasted one minute and twenty six seconds, while the seventh stretched to two minutes and three seconds.

During the eighth attempt, Zich became too impatient and issued a command in the completely wrong direction, causing one of the skeleton soldiers to walk directly into an ice wall that had just risen from the frozen surface.

Crack!

The blue ice crystal fell once again.

"Stop." Razeil’s voice came from outside the silver circle.

Zich opened his eyes and raised a hand to press against his already aching forehead.

"I can continue."

"There is no point in continuing to repeat the same mistake."

Razeil’s gaze swept across the skeleton soldiers standing motionless inside the four ice paths.

"You have been trying to control their every movement, but they are summons, not ordinary puppets whose every joint must be manipulated by you before they can move."

"After commanding them to continue forward, they can walk on their own as long as nothing ahead changes. What you truly need to do is interfere at the right moment whenever danger appears and alter their original actions."

Zich quickly understood what she meant.

"Maintain the most basic commands and only interfere when necessary?"

"At least until you truly possess the ability to control all of them precisely at the same time, that is the most suitable method for you." Razeil spoke calmly. "Control does not mean making every summon perform the same action at the same time. It means making each of them complete what they are supposed to do at the most suitable moment."

Zich closed his eyes again and sank his consciousness into the soul connections between himself and the four skeleton soldiers.

Four dim sensory images appeared once more. This time, however, he did not continue trying to see every detail clearly. Instead, he allowed the four skeleton soldiers to maintain their command to advance while focusing his attention on the places where changes were most likely to occur.

Some time later, the ninth training attempt began.

Inside the first ice path, an Ice Wolf lunged from the side. The first skeleton soldier immediately moved to the right, avoiding the claws that swept past its shoulder bone.

At the same time, cold energy began gathering beneath the third ice path. The third skeleton soldier instantly stopped. In the next second, a row of sharp ice spikes erupted from the ground directly in front of it.

This time, the four skeleton soldiers advanced noticeably more slowly, but the number of mistakes also began decreasing rapidly.

Two minutes and forty seven seconds later, the blue ice crystal held by the fourth skeleton soldier was finally shattered.

"Again."

Without waiting for Razeil to speak, Zich directly ordered the four skeleton soldiers to return to the starting point.

During the eleventh training attempt, the first skeleton soldier successfully reached the black ice pillar.

By the fourteenth attempt, three skeleton soldiers had already completed their respective paths. Only the final ice crystal was shattered less than thirty meters from the destination.

The failures continued, but the amount of time Zich could persist steadily increased, while his emotions gradually became calmer.

He no longer focused all his attention on one ice path the moment danger appeared there. He also began familiarizing himself with the changes that occurred before the different ice puppets attacked.

Whenever an Ice Wolf prepared to pounce, the energy inside its limbs would fluctuate first. Before a humanoid puppet threw its weapon, its upper body would briefly lean backward. Before the ice spikes hidden beneath the frozen surface emerged, the surrounding cold energy would also become more concentrated.

These changes could not allow him to predict every attack in advance, but they were enough to give him more time to react.

Razeil continued standing outside the silver circle without offering another reminder.

She had seen far too many young geniuses who possessed high ranking classes yet relied entirely on their classes and skills for all their strength. Whenever such people encountered failure, they would usually believe that their level was too low, their equipment was insufficient, or their summons were too weak. Very few would willingly admit that the problem lay in their own control.

Zich did not like failure either, but he never searched for excuses whenever he failed. Every time a blue ice crystal shattered, he would immediately recall where the problem had occurred and then attempt to correct it during the next training attempt.

At least in this regard, he had not disappointed Razeil.

The eighteenth training attempt began.

The moment the four skeleton soldiers ventured deeper into the ice paths, the first group of ice puppets awakened simultaneously.

The first skeleton soldier lowered its body and passed beneath an Ice Wolf. The second skeleton soldier suddenly stopped, allowing an oncoming ice spear to brush past its rib cage. The third skeleton soldier changed direction and slipped through the gap between two ice spikes. The final skeleton soldier rushed beneath the arm of a humanoid puppet before its weapon could descend.

The attacks in all four locations ended almost simultaneously.

All four blue ice crystals remained intact.

As the skeleton soldiers drew closer to the black ice pillars, an increasing number of ice puppets began to awaken, but Zich never allowed his control to descend into chaos again.

The first skeleton soldier reached the end of its path. Then the second and third followed soon after.

The fourth and final skeleton soldier was less than twenty meters away from the black ice pillar, but two humanoid puppets rose simultaneously in front of it, while an Ice Wolf rapidly approached from behind.

Zich controlled it to accelerate abruptly and charge directly toward the gap between the two humanoid puppets.

Two ice weapons descended simultaneously.

Just before they struck, the skeleton soldier suddenly stopped.

Bang!

The two weapons collided heavily in front of it, sending large amounts of shattered ice flying in every direction.

The skeleton soldier immediately lowered its body and passed between the two puppets. It then protected the blue ice crystal against its chest and rolled forward, avoiding the Ice Wolf that lunged from behind.

In the next second, the fourth blue ice crystal was placed beneath the black ice pillar.

All four ice crystals had reached their designated positions!
