Alex paused as he felt the distance, making sure he hadn’t somehow misjudged it. His range had nearly doubled, and the improvement was far greater than he had expected from a single spell.

He still had one more thing he wanted to test, so Alex created a mana sword. The spell had been extremely difficult for him until now, and every time he tried to form it, the pressure on his mind became so intense that it felt as though his head would split apart.

This time, however, the mana gathered with almost buttery ease. The sword formed smoothly in his hand, so naturally that no one would have believed he had been struggling to create the spell only a few minutes ago.

Alex looked at the mana sword for a moment, and a faint smile appeared on his face. This was awesome.

Alex decided to try the Mana Circuit Spell again. He first used the Mana Cable Spell to create the shape of a Kinetic Element Rune, carefully arranging the mana cable into the required pattern before focusing on the next step.

He then used his Will.

Since he was still strengthening his soul, moving his Will had become much easier than before. It flowed toward the rune without the resistance, and Alex watched as his Will slowly fused into the structure he had created.

Once it had fused with the rune, Alex ’willed’ the mana to harden.

The mana responded almost immediately. It definitely worked, although the hardening was far from perfect, and some parts of the structure were clearly less stable than others.

Alex did not mind.

He released his control over the mana and watched the rune carefully. Instead of instantly dissipating into the air like it normally would, the mana remained in place for roughly a second before it finally began to break apart and disappear.

A faint smile appeared on Alex’s face as he watched it vanish. He could finally use of his Will properly, and that meant he now had a clear path toward obtaining the Mana Circuit Spell.

Before, he had known that Will was somehow involved in creating the spell, but he had not understood how he was supposed to use it. Now, he finally understood what he needed to do, even if it would take some practice before he could actually accomplish it.

The reason he could not immediately gain the Mana Circuit Spell was simple. His Will was not strong enough yet, or rather, his ability to properly make use of his Will was still not up to par.

It was like finally having arms strong enough to attempt a pull-up. Having arms did not mean he could immediately pull his entire body up with ease, because he still needed to train those muscles until they were capable of handling the task properly.

Alex was satisfied with the result. He had finally obtained the Advanced Battle Instinct Spell, and now he also understood how he could eventually gain the Mana Circuit Spell, so with some practice, he was confident that he could get it soon.

He looked at the screen in front of him and noticed that there was still one notification he had not dealt with. It was the notification for learning the Soul Reinforcement Spell, which he had previously learned.

Alex selected the notification, only for another message to appear.

[All spell slots are currently in use.]

[Please rank up to increase the number of spell slots.]

Alex raised a brow before opening his status screen. Sure enough, there was no Soul Reinforcement Spell listed among his spells. He currently had ten other spells instead.

[Spells: Fire Bullet Spell, Mana Sense Spell, Mana Cable Spell, Mana Bullet Spell, Advanced Body Reinforcement Spell, Elastic Thread Spell, Lightning Reflex Spell, Mana Blade Spell, Blood Vitalization Spell, Advanced Battle Instinct Spell.]

Alex looked at the list for a moment before smiling faintly. Just a few hours ago, he had only had the Body Reinforcement Spell, but now he had so many spells that his available slots were already full, which was another clear sign that he was steadily growing stronger.

He looked back at the Soul Reinforcement Spell notification and considered removing one of his current spells to make room for it, but ultimately decided against doing so. There were two reasons for his decision, and both were fairly simple.

For now, Soul Reinforcement Spell only seemed useful for generating Will, which Alex could already produce manually. More importantly, all the spells currently on his status screen were either close to evolving or were spells he already planned to evolve, so removing one of them would only create an unnecessary problem.

Besides, even if the Soul Reinforcement Spell was not on his status screen, he could still use it normally.

’I can increase my spell slots by ranking up, but I need the Mana Circuit Spell to complete my Class Advancement quest and rank up. So I either need to remove one spell when I finally learn Mana Circuit, or I need to fuse two of my existing spells, since fusing them should free up one slot,’ Alex thought as he considered his options.

Alex opened his spell list again and looked at the spells that were closest to evolving. Fire Bullet Spell was already at Level 10, Mana Sense Spell was at Level 9, Mana Cable Spell was at Level 8, and both Mana Bullet Spell and Advanced Body Reinforcement Spell were at Level 7.

These were the spells that were currently closest to evolution, so Alex began considering which ones might be compatible enough to fuse.

He immediately removed Advanced Body Reinforcement Spell from consideration. He could not see any particularly useful combination between it and the other spells that were nearing evolution, so there was little chance they could fuse.

Among the remaining spells, Alex found three combinations that seemed possible.
