Alex closed his eyes and tried to understand what his instincts were telling him. He did not force the information, instead allowing the faint understanding to settle into his mind until the concept became clearer.

When he opened his eyes again, there was faint surprise in them, because he now had a rough understanding of what Fire-Mana Weaving Spell was supposed to do.

The idea was so outlandish that Alex had trouble believing it.

The spell would allow him to give physical shapes to flames, not merely shapes made from compressed fire, but actual physical shapes that could be touched and used like solid objects.

Alex understood the basic principle behind it almost immediately. He grabbed his Fire Wand and created a single Fire Element Mana thread, then used his other hand to create two normal Mana threads. He tried weaving the three threads together in the same way he had learned to create a Mana Cable.

Alex had believed Fire-Mana Weaving should work in a similar way to Mana Cable Spell, but as he attempted to form the spell, he quickly understood that something was missing. There was a crucial detail he did not know, something necessary to turn the woven Fire Mana and normal Mana threads into the actual Fire-Mana Weaving Spell.

He also knew that even if he understood that missing detail, learning the spell by himself would take a considerable amount of time. He would have to determine how many threads of each type of Mana were required, how thick each thread needed to be, how they should be woven together, and countless other details that could only be discovered through experimentation. It was not something he could simply brute force.

Alex did not have that kind of time right now. He was in the middle of a monster-infested area, and his objective was to reach his family as quickly as possible, so spending days experimenting for a new spell was not an option.

Alex shook those thoughts away and returned his attention to the evolution before him. Fire-Mana Weaving Spell had already amazed him, especially because solid objects could not normally be created through Fire Element Mana, which could create flames and explosions but could not normally form something with the properties of a physical object.

Alex remembered the javelin he had thrown to paralyze the Wild Orc Shaman. That attack had been created using his understanding of Fire Bullet, Mana Bullet, and Mana Blade Spell, and it now seemed obvious that his use of those spells had influenced this evolution.

The spell was extremely powerful for a simple reason. If Fire Element Mana alone could not create solid objects, then a spell that created physical objects from fire would have to involve normal mana as well. Alex had already used a similar—nascent—principle with his javelin and even his normal Fire Bullets.

He would create a casing using normal Mana, fill it with Fire Element Mana, and then launch it by destabilizing the Fire Element Mana and allowing it to explode. That was also the basic principle behind Fire Bullet Spell, but this was an evolved spell created from the fusion of two different spells, so Alex believed Fire-Mana Weaving had to be somewhat similar, but still different from his current method.

The answer seemed simple once he looked at it from that perspective. Alex believed the spell would allow him to fuse normal Mana and Fire Element Mana directly, giving the flames a physical form instead of merely surrounding a solid Mana structure with fire.

That would completely change how he could use his spells. He could potentially create a flaming blade that was both physically solid and covered in Fire Element Mana, which would greatly increase its destructive power.

There were applications for fusion of two different types of mana beyond offensive spells as well. Alex currently had to use a considerable amount of concentration whenever he wanted to use Advanced Body Reinforcement Spell and Lightning Reflex Spell together, because the two spells relied on different types of mana that could not naturally fuse.

If he used Advanced Body Reinforcement at full power, normal mana would reinforce his entire body, including his neurons, leaving no room for Lightning Element Mana to be added to them. Because of that, Alex had to concentrate on avoiding his neurons with Advanced Body Reinforcement before using Lightning Reflex Spell to strengthen them with Lightning Element Mana.

If he could fuse the two types of mana, however, he could potentially use both spells at full power at the same time. Normal mana could even reinforce his neurons while Lightning Element Mana strengthened them further, allowing him to push his neural speed beyond what was currently possible.

The applications did not stop there. If he could fuse Fire Element Mana and normal mana to stabilize the Fire Element Mana itself, he could potentially compress it further before placing it inside his Fire Bullets. That would allow him to put a larger amount of Fire Element Mana into each projectile without making it unstable too early.

There were many other possibilities as well. If Fire-Mana Weaving truly taught him how to fuse different types of mana together, the knowledge would be far more valuable than the spell itself, because it could change how Alex approached nearly every spell he possessed.

Just thinking about it made Alex excited, but he quickly calmed himself down. The possibilities were tempting, yet he could not allow his excitement to make the decision for him, especially when all three evolution options were useful. Alex did what he normally did when faced with several good choices and began the process of elimination.

The first spell to go was Fire Piercer Spell, even though he had no doubt that it was extremely useful. It would be excellent against an enemy with an extremely hard shell and relatively weak insides, but he had not encountered such an enemy yet, so there was no immediate need for it, especially when there were better options.
