Kael stared at the notification screen for several seconds, his brows slowly furrowing as he reread the line about the musical playnote. A musical playnote? What exactly was that supposed to be?
Curiosity getting the better of him, Kael opened his inventory and retrieved the item.
A tome appeared in his hand.
Its cover was dark with numerous musical symbols engraved across its surface in what appeared to be golden metal. The symbols seemed to shimmer faintly whenever they caught the light, giving the otherwise simple book an almost mystical appearance.
Kael turned it over once in his hand before opening the item’s information.

Kael’s eyes moved across the abilities one by one before settling on the requirements.
His expression immediately flattened.
"Well, that’s unfortunate."
The item was ridiculously good, especially for someone leading a group into battle.
Unfortunately, Kael didn’t have the class required to wield it.
He closed the information screen and looked down at the dark tome resting in his hand. He had no intention of trading it away. With the Mothlight Guild now under his control, an item like this could become extremely valuable during guild operations, particularly once the guild began taking on large-scale battles and dangerous instances.
All he needed was someone who met the requirements.
Of course, that didn’t mean he was going to hand it over to the first Bard, Commander, or Support-class player he found.
The item would become Soulbound the moment someone qualified for it wielded it, meaning there would be no getting it back afterward. Giving something this valuable to someone incompetent would be no different from throwing it away.
Kael stored the tome away and finally turned his attention toward his surroundings.
His brows slowly drew together.
Something was wrong.
He looked around the battlefield, taking in the empty space surrounding him. The battle was over. The enemy had been defeated. The system had already declared the floor complete and rewarded him for it.
So why was he still here?
Kael’s gaze moved from one side of the area to the other.
"Shouldn’t I be returning to the start room?"
Kael’s guard rose slowly, his eyes narrowing behind his helmet.
He had played enough games to know that situations like this rarely ended well.
There was always that one moment after you spent everything you had defeating what you thought was the boss, only for the game to suddenly decide that the thing you had just killed wasn’t the real boss at all.
He stared at the empty battlefield.
That couldn’t be what was happening here.
Surely not.
The Tower trials were difficult, and the Hell Difficulty trials were even more brutal, he had already accepted that much. Still, there had to be some limit to how malicious the developers of this place could be.
Kael glanced toward the place where Ghorrath had fallen, his brows knitting tighter as he looked around frantically, trying to discern what had gone wrong.
"This can’t be right... am I just being paranoid?"
Perhaps it was simply a delay, or something else entirely... there was no reason to assume anything was wrong just yet. He had already completed the floor trial and been rewarded for it, so there was no way another trial could still be waiting here.
Just then, a crimson screen abruptly materialized before him.
Kael froze.
The cheerful blue interface from earlier was gone. In its place hovered a blood-red notification, its letters flashing with an intensity that immediately set every instinct in his body on edge.
[WARNING]
[A Challenger from a higher floor has invaded your floor.]
[Prepare to defend yourself.]
Kael stared at the notification before him, and for a moment, he said nothing. Then his eyes slowly narrowed.
"...Fuck."
