Chapter 2003: Clash! (I)

The rest of the group both anticipated and yearned for the upcoming trip to the past. So after a brief hesitation, Chaos Sky was the first to say, “I... have no opinions about giving my replica to you, Li Hao!”

Was he helping an enemy grow stronger?

Perhaps!

But at this level, so what if he gave a replica to the young man? Li Hao was willing to take on an incredible amount of risk. Could the rest of them not bear to give up a replica in return?

“I have no opinions otherwise either,” smiled Spring Autumn. “I have many replicas, so you can have as many as you wish. Of course, the one I’m using right now is the strongest!”

Long Zhan was rather resigned as he wasn’t well off, especially compared to the rest. But he, too, nodded. The upcoming venture might benefit his efforts against Skyward, so he agreed as well.

Only now did Li Hao break into a smile.

Damn if this didn’t feel nice!

The dao crystals are mine and they were willing to leave their replicas behind for me as well. How wonderful! And he could borrow their strength to make a trip to Skyward of a million years ago!

I think... this might be a very interesting experience. We might even be able to personally connect with the Skyward master. This will help me have a better understanding of the future and how I might adjust things in the present.

This was an extremely decisive group of people once they reached a decision. It was agreed then and there that they would get started right on the spot.

Those outside the chessboard were still waiting to see who finished first or second. They had no idea that the group of heavyweights had already started reversing time to return to the era a million years ago, so that they could set eyes upon the true apex existences of the chaos.

......

One million years ago was their destination. This was a very bold group that immediately carried out what was on their mind.

The reversal of time!

This was the most mysterious dao in the chaos. Even though Spring Autumn’s dao of withering and flourishing was often mistaken for time, it was not time. There were similarities only in that she could spontaneously wither someone to the point of old age.

Yet, that was not the dao of time.

The little girl was insatiably curious at the moment. So this was the river of time? They were going against the current in a bid to seek the past.

All five wrestled with a complicated mix of emotions. They were not friends or fellow daoists, but enemies.

New Martial sought the position of overlord of the east, Chaos Sky wished to conquer the chaos. Spring Autumn wanted to seek a way out for her race, and Long Zhan wanted to defy the heavens to elevate the chaos beasts to the position of the dominant race. Li Hao desired to explore the daos of the chaos and create his own...

There were fundamental differences between them. Li Hao had even killed Long Zhan’s brethren and Long Zhan had exiled New Martial...

They were not in the same camp at the end of the day.

And yet, they were traveling through the river of time in this moment to seek traces of the past. It was an occasion that one could not help but sigh at.

Everyone was very quiet as they watched the river and walked through it. Time was flowing backward.

Waves reared at them over the river. These were events that’d happened in the past. Each wave meant a momentous occurrence in that era.

Ten thousand years, fifty thousand years, one hundred thousand years...

A tidal wave suddenly came at them!

Li Hao’s eyes widened and he shifted, suppressing heaven and earth. However, that did not stop the wave! They could faintly make out a figure that flashed through it!

The Human King’s expression changed and a long blade materialized in his hand. Some thoughts ran through his mind and a complicated look spread across his face.

The others reacted in similar ways.

So... someone had stirred up the chaos one hundred thousand years ago and caused the skies to shift color? Why didn’t they... know anything about it?

They were overlords of the chaos, but completely ignorant.

Long Zhang seemed to realize something and glanced at Li Hao and New Martial. His emotions were infused with a new mixture of complication. New Martial!

No, the world of Yin and Yang.

How many powerhouses had it produced and how many geniuses? Why was this world so different from the rest?

The War Sovereign!

It had to be him.

New Martial had been newly established one hundred thousand years ago, that was War’s era. It was also a time period in which no one knew about. Those who’d known War were probably august personages in the past.

How ludicrous!

Those of my age do not know my name. No one can learn of it and no one is worthy of learning of it. Only ancient powerhouses have the privilege of laying eyes on my glory.

And after War died, the energy he left behind benefitted the Human King. The star of time made who Li Hao was today.

Was there anything else to come?

How terrifying would these people be if they were all of the same bloodline!

Waves churned over the water’s surface!

Something had taken place in this era, but everyone was very confused by the disturbance. War’s era had been a quiet one. Nothing had affected the chaos. War might have never set foot off New Martial in his entire life.

How could he give rise to such a wave?

They knew that on this river, the greater the wave meant that the greater the incident that took place. War had caused a tidal wave in this age. That was an utterly astonishing feat!

Li Hao simply suppressed the waves and suddenly looked back behind him. He raised a brow as he narrowed his eyes.

The other sensed something as well. There seemed... to be a wave churning toward them from someplace far behind them. It was very, very far away and seemed to come from someplace behind their point of entry.

“Is that... our future?” asked Chaos Sky. So the waves from our future have already reached the present and are on their way to the past? Are they going to upend the entire past?

How horrifying!

There weren’t that many heavyweights in the modern age. It was hardly a glorious age the likes of a million years ago. Was everything in the past about to be rewritten?

The overlords of the chaos had gathered today simply to meet Skyward. It was such a difficult trip already. And now were they about to be impacted by the future?

Li Hao did not say a word. He simply glanced behind them. However the future was, it might not be anything significant. Perhaps it had to do with the person he’d seen.

Was that person on the river right now?

Perhaps!

......

At the same time, at the end of the river.

A group of people forged against the current, much like how Li Hao’s group was doing so. The youngster in the lead suddenly jerked his head up, seeing a tidal wave crash through the worlds!

“Something... major did happen in the past. Look at the size of that!” said the youngster. “Was there a massive war in the past? This tidal wave is breaking up our path. We probably won’t be able to make it past it...”

What a massive wave! Could the old geezers and grannies of the past really get up to so much trouble?

It’s so terrifyingly big that my tribulation of a myriad races doesn’t seem to be even one-tenth of it! Is this the tribulation of the era or the chaos?

“Waves undulate without pause, it looks like we’re not too far from when things changed in the past!” he laughed with some excitement. “I seem to see endless powerhouses die in the void and blood sprayed across the chaos! How fun! How interesting!”

No one behind him said a word.

“That makes things interesting!” someone cackled after a while. “Time! How I wish to lay eyes upon it! We’ve finished killing the enemies of a myriad races and are used to living on a knife’s edge. How can we sit still? It’s fun only when we can stir things up a bit!”

“I sense danger...” the youngster suddenly said. “Be careful of the danger coming from upriver. That one may be on this river of time right now. We may not be of the same era, but the river is the same one!”

They were the same river, just divided into the past and future.

Danger?

No one understood, but they believed the youngster and went on the alert.

The youngster looked ahead with his brows raised and a million trains of thought running through his mind. If that one was on the river right now, that would make things interesting. It meant that some distortion might appear in space and time.

He himself was interfering with the river’s future and so was that guy also doing something. If he interfered with the past, then both past and future would be disturbed...

The youngster suddenly looked behind him and sank into deep thought. Could the river of time ultimately form a closed loop?

If he interferes with the past and I interfere with my past, will his future... somehow connect with mine for a split second?

I seem to be very interested in what he does.

The youngster didn’t voice anything that was on his mind. He might have a chance and perhaps didn’t need to wait until the other created the myriad of worlds. This river was a constant existence, after all.

......

Rumble...

The river waters grew louder. As the five made their way upstream, they encountered very few waves. That represented... that nothing major had taken place.

“Nothing happening for several hundred thousand years? What a bunch of bores!” grumbled the disinterested Human King.

“......” No one engaged him in conversation. Why’d you have to be born with a mouth for? Is fighting everyday your idea of a good life? The chaos is huge, so why should we slaughter each other for no reason?

It was nice that nothing major had taken place for several hundred thousand years. That meant the waves on the river were much smaller. It was much easier for Li Hao to reverse time in that case.

The others were likewise stabilizing the river. Li Hao alone might be sufficient to trace a river of memories, but more than the young man was needed to ferry mental strength through! One million years was too long...

Another tidal wave rose ahead of them.

“Is that Skyward’s era in front of us?” asked a chipper Spring Autumn.

The water ahead of them was much cleaner, which indicated the purity of great dao.

“It should be!” Li Hao inclined his head after scanning the water.
