Wilderness (5th Zone)
Hospital
Jeremy Night was with his parents in the hospital. They were all discussing the wilderness situation. The big screen on the wall was turned on.
A news channel was playing on the big screen. It was going to be morning in a few hours, yet none of them were getting any sleep.
[Breaking news: The Beast Tamers returning from the wilderness have revealed that a Tier-9 Beast appeared at the border. They were told to return to the city.]
When the news anchor said this, the faces of Jeremy Night’s parents changed drastically.
Ron had a solemn expression on his face. To be honest, he had already guessed something like that. As a former City Governor, he knew how to block the news.
Nora Night was afraid. Tier-9 Beasts were no joke. If not handled properly, their attack could reach the city.
"What are they going to do?" Nora asked.
Jeremy Night saw his distressed parents.
"Don’t worry, it’s not like the city is facing a Tier-9 Beast for the first time. I’m sure help from the Human Alliance is on the way," Jeremy said to them.
Hearing that, their expressions eased.
"Jeremy is right. Last time, the Lords from the Human Alliance turned up to save the city," Ron said to his wife, Nora.
Hearing that, Nora calmed down.
"Maybe we should have stayed back in the 14th Zone. At least there were no threats of higher-tier beasts there," Nora commented.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night thought of the Darkshade Organisation. The Darkshade Organisation was carrying out such sinister schemes in the 5th Zone.
He suspected other remote zones might have been used by them as well. Only after coming here had he learned all about it.
"Do you think the Lords from the Human Alliance will reach there in time?" Ron asked.
"If something happens, then we have to handle it ourselves," he added, speaking as a former City Governor.
The city back in the 14th Zone didn’t have enough resources. During such times, they needed the help of locals to contribute.
It didn’t matter whether they were trained or not; everyone had to step in. But there was proper management in the top 10 zones.
After hearing the argument, Nora fell silent.
"Father, Mother, you can relax. There are Tier-8 Beast Tamers at the frontline. They must be holding the line right now," he said to them.
"What about Melinda?"
"Did she return safely?" Nora asked.
"Yes, Mother. She returned together with the other members. They are in the Red Moon Chamber right now," Jeremy replied.
Everyone continued watching the news, but Jeremy was pondering internally. He thought the Lords from the Human Alliance should have been here by now.
It had been some time since he revealed the evidence to Head Harold. Head Harold might have told City Governor Martin right away.
He believed City Governor Martin was a credible person who must have informed the Human Alliance. But the Human Alliance was taking time.
He furrowed his eyebrows. He felt his strength was not enough; he wanted to grow stronger. He really couldn’t do anything when it came to Tier-8 and above beasts.
Ron saw his son’s face and said, "Jeremy, you have time. There is no need to feel pressured over this matter."
"Remember what Lord Martha told you back then. Your Lifeline beast has a high bloodline limit. You will definitely become a Tier-8 Beast Tamer and possibly a Tier-9 Beast Tamer in the future," he added.
Nora offered comforting words as well.
"I’m sure Lord Martha must be following your updates. She will be happy when she knows you made it to the 4th Zone," Nora said.
Hearing that, Jeremy smiled and pushed away the unnecessary thoughts.
"You’re right. I will become a Tier-9 Beast Tamer in the future," Jeremy Night said to them.
The atmosphere eased, and their conversation turned positive.
...
Border
Screeech!
The Tier-8 Golden Eagle Beast continued to pester the Tier-9 Earth Lizard. The Brown Rock Salamander and the Stone Lizard supported it on both sides.
Boom!
The Tier-9 Lizard once again found its legs petrified. It wanted to break out badly, but the wind-force attack from the Golden Eagle was obscuring its view.
The Brown Rock Salamander was also causing trouble by creating solid mountain rocks around the Tier-9 Lizard.
Elder John, Elder Allen, and Elder Smith were standing in mid-air. They watched the successful containment of the Tier-9 Earth Lizard.
"No wonder you approached us first. If it were other beasts, the Tier-9 Lizard would have broken the encirclement already," Elder Allen commented.
"The Tier-9 Lizard has an earth ability as well. It won’t be long before our beasts get tired. I hope the elders from the Human Alliance come soon," Elder Smith said from the side.
Elder Allen then thought of something and asked, "I heard about the genius you brought to the special base. What was his name again?"
"Jeremy Night," John said.
"Is he from this zone?" Allen asked.
"Yes," John uttered; he didn’t say anything further.
Allen nodded and said, "I heard forces from the top three zones will be coming to the special base soon. Are you planning to introduce him?"
John’s eyes flickered. He didn’t expect Elder Allen to be concerned about Jeremy Night.
"No, he is too young. Elder Sandra will decide everything," John said.
Hearing Elder Sandra’s name, Allen nodded and didn’t ask further. Elder Smith was listening from the side.
Their conversation was not loud, but it was still heard by the Beast Tamers behind them. The name of Jeremy Night was quite famous in the 5th Zone.
The Dean of Central University and the Head of the Beast Taming Association were listening to the conversation as well.
They knew Jeremy Night. The young man could fight across Tiers. He had killed a Tier-5 beast while being a Tier-3 Beast Tamer. Such a record had not been made in recent history.
"So the kid is doing well," the Dean of Central University 5 commented.
He knew about Jeremy Night as well, because the young man had joined branch University 14 after awakening his talent.
