Special Base (4th Zone)
Morning came. The Beast Tamers began to enter the administration building to select their missions. There were some who were outside the base on missions.
Those here were either taking a break or recovering from injuries. Those who were done with their break were going to select missions again, except for the third-years.
The Elders behind the mission desk were not surprised by such high numbers. Everyone had heard about the rumors. As the days passed by, the rumors were not rumors anymore.
You could hardly find Tier-7 Beast Tamers in the base; even the injured ones were not there.
Once you were selected by one of the forces in the top three zones, wealth and fame were not out of reach. If you did well against the corrupted beasts, you could find all types of resources.
You could find the rarest resources there. With all those resources and wealth, the Beast Tamers and the Lifeline Beasts could reach the Tier-8 limit easily.
The members stood in queues one by one. They selected their missions and registered before leaving the place.
The elders behind the mission desk saw them leaving. Elder Smith was among them as well. He didn’t know why, but he immediately thought of Jeremy Night.
Meanwhile,
Elder John saw Elder Sandra in her office. He was here for another matter, but Elder Sandra asked about Jeremy Night.
Learning that Jeremy Night had returned, but had already left for a mission last night, she nodded her head in approval.
"His rank has fallen from the top 50. I don’t know whether he can attract the eyes of those people," Sandra commented.
"Elder, I think he is still young. He has a good two or three years ahead of him. He will become a Tier-6 Beast Tamer by then," John replied.
He knew Jeremy Night could fight across ranks, but he was still a young man, yet he was doing what adults were doing right now.
"Well, I’m not worried about him. I’m curious about his Lifeline Beast. He hasn’t used the Lifeline Beast in battle. I think his Lifeline Beast is special," Sandra said.
"The resources for all kinds of beasts are found in the top three zones. If he gets a chance to move in there, his progress will be fast," Sandra added.
Hearing that, John’s eyes flashed with understanding.
But he himself didn’t know the full details of it.
Sandra then changed the topic of conversation.
...
Wilderness
It had been an hour since he left the big tree. On the way, he came across uneven terrain, with rocks protruding from the ground.
If he were a Tier-5 Beast Tamer or above, he could use a flight ability to travel. Right now, he had to go through this rocky terrain.
If he took a detour, it might take a longer time. He saw why no corrupted beasts had appeared so far: they would find it difficult to move in this terrain as well.
As per his calculations, he had already come to the deeper part of the wilderness. The chances of him coming across Rosebudd Flowers were higher here.
He thought he understood why Elder Smith hadn’t obstructed him from selecting the mission. Because of the rocky, difficult terrain, even higher-tier beasts would avoid the place.
But Jeremy Night didn’t get tense. He was taking his time. While moving along the path, he used starlight threads to practice his control, creating small shields.
He didn’t forget to use his eye power to scan the surroundings. So far, no beasts had been spotted. He continued with his journey.
While scanning the area, his gaze fell on the Rosebudd Flowers. There were five small flowers growing in the same spot.
Seeing that, he was stunned. He hadn’t expected to find the flowers this soon. He started heading toward the place. The flowers were growing behind the protruding rocks.
Soon, he arrived at the spot. He located the flowers and used his eye power to observe whether the plants matched the description.
The plants’ appearance matched the description. He then took the storage boxes from his ring, carefully plucked the plants, and placed them inside the storage boxes one by one.
He quickly placed all five plants inside the storage boxes. After doing that, he closed the boxes and put them inside the storage ring.
He needed to collect 45 more Rosebudd Flower plants.
Swoosh!
He then walked away from the spot and continued on his journey. He understood that he had entered a denser area; from here on, he could find more Rosebudd Flowers easily.
Time passed.
He left the rocky terrain and reached flatter land. Seeing that the terrain had become simpler, he grew more vigilant.
From here on, it would be easy to come across corrupted beasts.
It didn’t take long for him to spot the footprints of a beast. The footprints were over two feet in size and looked fresh.
He didn’t know which beast had passed by. He used his eye power again, his gaze sweeping across the place.
He then spotted a group of twenty four-legged beasts resting under the shade of a big tree. These four-legged beasts were not hybrid dog beasts.
They were of a different kind. He saw that these beasts were unusually tall, so he couldn’t tell whether they were Tier-5 or Tier-6 beasts.
He moved closer toward them and recognized that they were a hybrid form of cat-type beasts.
This was the first time he had come across gray-colored beasts. He knew there were many types of four-legged beasts, and cat-type beasts had many variations.
Jeremy took a deep breath. The cat-type beasts were in no way less dangerous than other beasts.
These particular hybrids preferred to fight in groups rather than hunt individually, which made them even more dangerous.
They were deadlier than hyenas because their numbers were far greater.
Jeremy hesitated. He needed to get closer to figure out whether they were Tier-6 beasts or not. If they were a group of Tier-5 beasts, their numbers wouldn’t pose a threat to him.
