City A (4th Zone)
Sunset Hotel
They left the Sunset Hotel a few minutes later. They hopped into a cab and were on their way towards Dave’s lab.
Jeremy Night was curious to know how they worked inside the lab. He hadn’t come across that many cool non-combatants.
The cab went through many lanes before reaching the destination. Dave’s lab was located inside a quiet community.
Upon arriving in front of the towering glass building, the driver stopped his car. They exited the cab. John paid the fare to the driver.
Next, he led Jeremy Night to the building. They reached the main door and walked inside. There was not much inspection there.
They were welcomed by the admin staff. The admin staff tried to see through their strength, but they failed to see through the middle-aged man, who was likely older.
However, they saw through the strength of the young man: a Tier-3 or Tier-4 Early Beast Tamer.
"How can I help you?" the male staff member asked.
"We are from the special base. I’m here to meet Senior Dave," John said.
The male staff heard the words "special base." It was enough for them. There was more than one person here.
One of them went to inform the higher-ups. The rest asked them to sit in the lobby. John nodded his head.
He walked to the sofa and sat down. Seeing that, Jeremy Night sat down on the sofa comfortably. His eyes were wandering around.
He liked the glass building. He could see an elevator and stairs leading to other floors. He wondered what they were doing on each floor.
John was not silent. He turned on the big screen mounted on the wall. He was acting casually, as if he had been to this place multiple times.
Meanwhile, the staff reported to the higher-up. That person was the overall in-charge of the place. He would make decisions in the absence of Head Dave.
Fortunately, Head Dave was with them today. The in-charge went straight to his office room. The guests who had come today were important people.
The fact that they were here and not at their base meant something important.
In the office room, a bald-headed old man was sitting behind the desk. He was going through a report on his handheld device.
The old man was Dave.
Knock!
Just then, he heard knocking on the door. He told the person to come in. Dave put the device on the desk and leaned back against the chair.
Creak!
He saw the person in charge walk into the room. The man immediately reported to him about the guests.
"Guests from the special base," Dave uttered before standing up.
He knew what this was about. Some time ago, Head of the Special Base Sandra had received the mapping device from them. It had to be related to that.
"Let’s go," Dave said.
Then both of them left the room and went to meet the guests.
When they arrived in the lobby, Dave immediately recognised Elder John, who was one of the elders in the special base.
He was also a strong beast tamer with a flying-type lifeline beast.
"Elder John, welcome to my lab." After saying that, Dave turned towards the young man, who was a Tier-3 Peak Beast Tamer.
He was a Tier-7 Beast Tamer himself, so he could see things clearly. He wondered whether the young man was from the special base as well.
His gaze then immediately shifted to Elder John.
John smiled and said, "It’s good to see you, Senior Dave."
"I’m here on behalf of Elder Sandra. We have done our work with the mapping device. We are here to get the new map," he added.
Gasp!
A low exclamation escaped the mouth of the in-charge. Even Dave raised his eyebrows in surprise.
They knew what work could be done with the mapping device. Their whole lab worked on that task.
"Let’s get to the lab and process the information." After saying that, Dave led them towards the lab.
A few minutes later, they reached the fourth floor via the elevator.
"The whole 4th floor is a dedicated lab to process the data from the mapping device," Dave said.
He thought that Elder John had completed the mission. He was not looking at the young man, assuming that the young man had simply accompanied Elder John.
The in-charge followed them as well. Then they arrived in front of the main door. They opened the main door and walked inside.
The in-charge shut the door.
Elder John and Jeremy saw another fortified glass room inside with many lights and devices on the desk. There was also a large, wide screen on the ceiling.
It was for viewers to watch the footage from the outside.
Elder John then took out the device from the storage ring and gave it to Senior Dave.
Dave accepted the helmet device.
"You guys take a seat here. I’ll process the information," Dave said.
He then turned towards the in-charge and told him to watch over. He didn’t want anyone else to disturb him during his work.
The in-charge nodded his head and left the room.
John and Jeremy sat down on the nearby sofa. They could watch the big screen from there.
Dave went inside the lab and shut the door. He then took the helmet device to the desk and started connecting it to the other devices with cables.
He then turned on the other small devices on the desk and started doing his work.
Jeremy was watching the whole thing, but he grew curious. He wondered what the talent of the person named Dave was, and what his lifeline beast would be.
John saw Jeremy Night’s reaction. His mouth curved into an arc. He thought Jeremy Night wouldn’t be able to hold back; he would definitely ask questions.
He was also curious on his end. He wanted to watch the footage. Jeremy Night had told them that he had mapped new places. He wouldn’t have expected him to bring him directly to this lab.
It could be a new experience for him.
Inside the lab, Dave was using the device to extract data from the helmet device. He knew about the special base terrain. He was interested in knowing the newly marked area.
