Strongest Hammer God

Chapter 1117: Karmic Calamity

It never ended.

The army of specters never stopped.

The Overseer didn't know how much time had passed.

It could've been a second.

It could've been a million years.

It just never ended.

The specters just kept coming.

During this entire time, she hadn't even been able to form a coherent thought. In this world, it was like she was just a stone that felt eternal pain and regret.

She didn't know who she was. She didn't remember anything. She didn't know why she was here.

Everything hated her.

She didn't know why.

She didn't know why existence itself hated her so much.

She just existed. She was just there. She didn't remember doing anything that could have angered anyone else.

Was her crime existing?

Did reality hate her because she existed?

Was existing so bad?

Wasn't she allowed to exist?

Why did she even exist?

All of the memories she made were of being hated by reality.

Why did it hurt so much?

Why did existence hurt so much?

What was the point of persevering?

What was the point of existing?

It was just painful, and she had never seen anything in her life that hadn't been immensely painful.

This was existence.

It was just pain, and pain, and pain, and pain.

And yet, she kept going. She didn't know why, but something inside of her told her that she had to keep going. Something inside of her told her that things would improve.

Eventually...

At some point...

Maybe...

Things would improve.

She just had to keep existing. She just had to keep fighting.

The tide of hatred and pain didn't stop.

An unknown period of time passed, and, finally, something changed...

For the worse.

The specters were becoming stronger. It had started slowly, but as more of them attacked, it became impossible to ignore.

The pain existence inflicted upon her was getting more intense.

Reality hated her for surviving, and it was putting more pressure on her.

Die!

You have to die!

Kill yourself!

You're a plague!

You're a mistake!

Failure!

You're worthless!

You're a waste!

Everybody hates you!

The world hates you!

Nobody wants you!

Die!

Just die!

The Overseer wanted to persevere. She wanted to fight back.

But it was never-ending...

She was getting tired.

She just wanted a break.

The specters' powers increased even more, and the pain amplified.

Tears appeared in the Overseer's eyes. She didn't know what crying was or what it represented. These tears simply appeared by themselves.

Please, let me rest.

Please, I don't want this.

I'm sorry. I don't know what I've done, but I'm sorry.

Please...

Please...

None of these thoughts were coherent. They were just interpreted feelings of misery and helplessness.

Die!

Yet, reality didn't care.

Die!

The only thing that changed was the ever-increasing pain and hatred.

The cold and hard truth about reality was that it was cold and hard.

The specters grew even stronger.

The Overseer realized that there was no way out. Pain and misery were everything there was to reality.

Die!

I want to die...

Die!

I want to die...

Die!

I want to die...

The Overseer's Energy turned discordant. Her existence was no longer in harmony, and different parts of herself disconnected from each other.

I'm sorry...

I want to die...

But I can't...

I don't know why...

I just can't...

I'm sorry...

I'm sorry...

I'm sorry...

The pain intensified even more. There were fewer specters, but each one caused pain equivalent to trillions of the earlier specters.

The Overseer's Energy remained chaotic, but it didn't take the final step. While her existence was hurting, something inside of herself just refused to give in.

Another specter hit her, and this one was the worst, by far. This one was as bad as all the other specters combined.

If she had retained her memories, she would have noticed that the specter looked just like Kyle. Not the current Kyle, but the one who had entered the Gate of Death.

As she felt the hatred in that specter, the Overseer closed her eyes. Her tears vanished, and suddenly, things didn't seem as bad anymore.

After all...

She had made her decision.

She would leave existence behind and return to nothingness.

She looked at the black world one last time before finally letting go.

BANG!

The Overseer shot through the skies of Ayuvar as countless memories rushed into her mind. Within an instant, she remembered who she was, where she was, and what situation she was currently in.

And then, she noticed the state of her existence...

Her Energies were in absolute disorder and chaos! Parts of her existence were actively destroying other parts of her existence, while even more parts dissipated into the surroundings!

A lifetime of pain and misery could severely damage the health of a Mortal, and Immortals were not an exception.

One's mentality was an integral part of an Immortal's power. Immortals were made of pure Energy, but there was still logic behind their Energy. Their unique existence was dictated by the countless transformations and movements of their Energies.

Since all of their Aspects were fused, a damaged mentality could translate into a damaged body.

As the Overseer focused on repairing the discordant white noise that was her unique existence, she didn't notice that all of the memories of experiencing Kyle's attack vanished. Like a person forgetting their dreams within minutes of waking up, the Overseer forgot the nightmare that was Karmic Calamity.

In the end, only a fragment of a memory remained.

It was merely a distant feeling.

Fear.

Whatever happened, whatever she did, whatever her plans were...

She could not allow herself to be struck by this attack again!

She didn't remember anything of what had happened within that black world, but she knew that she would not be able to survive a second time!

'Fuck!' Kyle thought as he noticed that the Overseer had survived. 'Judging by how her body looks, I must've been close! She almost died!'

However, even though the Overseer had survived, Kyle had still gained a lot.

First of all, she was significantly weakened, and second...

A cold light appeared in Black's eyes as his hammer swung.

The fox in front of him didn't move at all. While the foxes were almost alive, they had no will of their own. Their wills came from the Overseer, and when she had been hit by Karmic Calamity, she had lost control of her foxes.

A black streak of broken reality stretched towards the fox as it followed Black's hammer.

BOOOOM!

The hammer hit the fox's chest and released a beam of concentrated Death.

The fox's torso vanished, and its limbs aimlessly shot into the distance.

Moments later, Black's hammer turned red, and the broken limbs of the foxes were converted into Elemental Energies, which flowed into the hammer.

Meanwhile, Red chased after the Overseer, who had gotten her existence under control.

Immediately after, she reestablished her connection with her last remaining fox, commanding it to dodge the next attack.

When she noticed the current situation, she realized how dire it had become.

Due to Karmic Calamity, her Energy had been reduced to just 10% of her maximum. Even more, she had lost two of her three foxes.

Luckily, Red wasn't in a better position. While he had regrown his body, the density of his and his hammer's Energy had dropped to just 5%.

If she managed to kill Red, she would win. After all, Black wouldn't be able to fight two opponents by himself.

The Overseer summoned another saber and charged towards Red again.
