"Mama, look. The crops are going bad."
The little girl’s mother turned with a curious expression and looked at where her daughter was pointing, and the moment the woman saw the crops turning grey and falling over, her brow furrowed in shock! The woman took a step back while pulling the little girl along with her.
"Hey, hey. There’s something strange about that cloud. Are you sure that’s smoke?"
The woman spoke up to the crowd of farmers, and she continued to take steps back away from the fast-approaching cloud! Many of the people there also started to notice the dying crops, and there was a shock that flowed across the entire crowd as they began to wonder what was going on! It wasn’t until the smoke had finally approached them and it touched the first person that they all realised that there was something very wrong here!
The moment the smoke washed over one of the farmers, the man’s entire body slackened like he was a puppet that had its strings cut, and he immediately fell to the ground dead! The second person also fell to the ground and died, and then the third person, and the fourth! At that moment, an existential fear immediately passed through the hearts of every single person there, and one woman shouted in a loud voice!
"IT’S KILLING THEM!"
The farmers all turned and began to run in fear as the black smoke approached them! People threw their tools away and abandoned their possessions to try and get as far away from that smoke as possible! But no matter how fast a mortal can move, there was no way they could escape the reach of a celestial! More and more farmers were being touched by the smoke and falling over! There were more than two hundred farmers in the farmland when the smoke appeared, and by the time two minutes had passed, the smoke had already washed over every single one of them, and their life force had been sapped out!
This scene was playing out in multiple worlds across the entire Ninth Domain! The smoke was a massive creature that was travelling through five different worlds at the same time and washing its black essence over the land to absorb the life essence of any living thing unfortunate enough to fall into its grip!
This was not an enemy that came with loud explosions or fancy skills; neither was it an enemy that announced itself with strong, powerful auras or deadly power! This was the silent killer. The thief in the night that came and went without a sound! There was no warning and no chance for survival! Everything and everyone that fell under the smoke’s influence, from the weakest F Rank creatures to the strongest PRIMORDIAL Rank III creatures! Nothing was safe from the reach of the Celestial of Death! You could run, and you could hide, but the moment the Celestial of Death crossed over you, there was already no hope!
It had only been two days since the Celestial of Death was awakened and freed from its eternal prison, and in that time, the death toll had already reached thirty billion creatures across more than fifteen different worlds! Everything from the largest giants to the tiniest ants had all been killed! And over the next week, the death toll would only continue to rise as the Celestial of Death made its way towards the edge of the Ninth Domain.
....
[The Ninth Domain]
[The World of Gentrine]
The ninth domain existed on the outskirts of the Primordial Expanse, and this meant it was located very close to the Primordial Veil and the world of the Primordials! As a result of this closeness, many creatures or enemies that somehow make their way through the Primordial Veil would end up appearing at the Ninth Domain before anywhere else!
This closeness to the Primordial Veil made it obvious that this domain would require a lot of military strength to hold back any enemy that might appear from the Primordial Veil, so there were various Interdimensional armies that had been formed during the signing of the treaty years ago and these armies were tasked with living on the outskirts of the Ninth Domain to look out for any signs of danger that might appear through the Primordial Veil! It was also common for powerful members of various races to visit the Ninth Domain and carry out regular inspections just to make sure there were no tears in the Primordial Veil!
But even with all these preparations, no one could have predicted how quickly things had gone to hell!
A young man ran through the majestic hallway of a massive castle floating in the sky, and he ignored the many people passing beside him as he made his way towards the Overlord’s meeting room! This man was named Varon, and he was a direct subordinate of the Overlord presiding over the Ninth domain, Kalum! Just like all the other men in the kingdom, Varon had dark green skin and pointy elven ears! Behind him were large black wings that were folded close! He was tall and thin in a way that would make most people think he was malnourished! But this was just how the people of Gentrine looked!
Varon was one of the youngest surveyors in Gentrine whose job involved keeping watch over the worlds around the ninth domain and ensuring that there were no problems between the various races! As the most influential world in this entire domain, the world of Gentrine sent out scouts occasionally to bring back information about the worlds around them, and it was Varon’s job to look through those reports and interpret them before sending a summary to the Overlord.
But as of this moment, nothing made sense! Reports have been coming in from multiple worlds on the edge of the ninth domain about a mysterious force that was completely destroying anything that it touched! This force was not something that could be fought or stopped! I moved across worlds like a black cloud of death and consumed everything in its path as it travelled forward! There had already been more than twenty worlds that sent this same report to the overlord, and Varon could feel an intense fear rising in his heart as he realised that this was something far more serious than he thought!
It wasn’t until Varon received a final message from one of the scouts in a distant world that Varon realised that they were dealing with a problem far above what he could handle! The first four words of the message were what had put the fear of god into Varon’s soul!
’The Black Death Approaches.’
Once Varon saw these words and read the rest of the message, he immediately abandoned his station, and he was heading straight towards the Overlord’s ruling throne to tell him what was going on! When Varon got to the door leading into the Overlord’s room, he was stopped by guards with powerful cannon blasters! Varon immediately told them that he had an important message for the Overlord, but the guards did not want to let him through!
"You cannot enter unless you have permission from the Overlord. Go and speak to the prime minister to get an appointment!"
One of the guards pushed Varon back slightly, but Varon growled in anger, and he pushed the guard as well!
"Are you going to be responsible when we all die!? If I don’t get this message to the overlord, every world in this domain is going to be eradicated from existence!"
