Chapter 1243: Chapter 1242: Fiery Passion
"I, I can testify." The person who had been almost treated like air spoke up.
Jiang Cheng looked at this person again. If he remembered correctly, this person didn’t want to get involved back then and was trying hard to dissuade the others. Jiang Cheng saw that this boy had a lean figure and a somewhat timid appearance, with hair that was long enough to almost cover his eyes. But upon closer inspection, the boy had delicate features and was fair-skinned and handsome. Jiang Cheng thought of Zhang Tian when he saw him; Zhang Tian was also handsome, but the impression the two gave off was completely different.
"I told you no, who can prove that you’re not a spy from the Wula Sect?" Zhao Shuai glanced at the boy, saying with displeasure.
"Yeah, I don’t think it’s a good idea either," Cloud said, looking at the boy.
"No, I’m not, I’m not a spy. I genuinely want to help you!" The boy, seeing that he wasn’t being trusted, turned red with urgency and hastily explained.
"If you’re willing to promise not to back out at the last moment, then help us testify," Jiang Cheng said.
"Jiang, you..." Zhao Shuai still disagreed and wanted to stop Jiang Cheng.
"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing." Jiang Cheng didn’t even know why he trusted the boy in front of him, maybe because he had such an innocent face. Jiang Cheng thought to himself.
"What’s your name? Are you from the Wula Sect?" Qi Rongfeng asked.
"My name is Jin Zihan. I am from the Wula Sect." At this moment, the boy spoke clearly, unlike his previous timid manner.
"You say you want to testify for us. Do you have any evidence? Just you as a witness?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"I, I brought evidence," Jin Zihan said.
"Oh? What is it?" This was unexpected for Jiang Cheng. He had thought the boy was truly acting out of sheer enthusiasm.
"My sister was also watching here at the time, and she recorded it," he said.
"Your sister? Is she also from the Wula Sect?" Qi Rongfeng interjected to ask.
"No, my sister is just an ordinary person," Jin Zihan replied. He took out a phone with a pink case and a pink screen, which looked very girlish. Jin Zihan dug out a video from the phone and showed it to Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng and others crowded around to watch the video. It turned out to be a complete recording from start to finish, including the scene of the Wula Sect members snatching Zhao Shuai’s belongings, the ensuing verbal altercation, and the sequence where the Wula Sect members initiated the fight.
Jiang Cheng saw that although this young man was a disciple of the Wula Sect, he was far less malevolent and mature than his fellow sect members of the same age. The boy’s speech and behavior gave off a very naive charm, making it easy for others to trust and like him.
"So you want to testify for us. Do you have any requests?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Requests?" Jin Zihan repeated, as if thinking for a moment, "I don’t have any requests."
"No worries, I’ll give you my contact info, so you can reach out if you need anything in the future," Jiang Cheng said as he gave Jin Zihan his contact information.
"Yeah, thanks," the young boy smiled and said.
"Thank you for what? We should be the ones thanking you," Jiang Cheng also smiled and said.
Feeling a bit shy, Jin Zihan scratched his head, his face turning red. "Well, I’ll be off then. This is the first time someone has thanked me." Jin Zihan smiled very genuinely and happily.
After saying that, Jin Zihan turned and walked away.
"Jiang, do you really think there’s no problem with him?" Zhao Shuai asked.
"No matter what, he’s willing to help us right now, and we have no other choice, do we?" Jiang Cheng replied.
"Yeah, and he really doesn’t look like a bad person," Cloud said.
"But where are we going to stay now?" Zhao Shuai asked, as it was getting late and they couldn’t stay at the 183 Hotel where they had been before.
"Shall I just buy a house? After all, I’ve got money," Cloud said.
"Why did you bring so much money?" Zhao Shuai asked.
"I didn’t know what to bring; I just thought money would be useful, and it turns out it really is," Cloud said with a smile.
"Given our identities right now, we probably can’t buy a house, but finding a hotel to stay in is also tricky," Jiang Cheng said, considering that there were many Wula Sect members, and showing their faces might cause unnecessary trouble.
"Then are we going to have to sleep on the streets?" Zhao Shuai asked with a look of horror.
"Of course not, Cloud is here," Qi Rongfeng said.
"Should we look for Zhang Tian again?" Zhao Shuai asked.
"He, when he came to pick me and Jiang up before, he was already quite impatient," Qi Rongfeng remembered Zhang Tian’s impatient face and dismissed the idea.
"In this situation, he’s the safest option," Jiang Cheng said as he took out his phone and called Zhang Tian. Not long after, Zhang Tian’s voice was on the other end, "I’m not doing any more favors." His voice was tinged with annoyance.
"It’s nothing big. I just thought you could let us stay at your place for a night." As soon as Jiang Cheng finished speaking, the other end hung up, leaving Jiang Cheng feeling awkward.
"Did he hang up on you?" Zhao Shuai asked, noticing Jiang Cheng’s displeased expression. "I knew he wouldn’t agree."
Just as Jiang Cheng finished speaking, a message came in. Jiang Cheng looked at it and saw that Zhang Tian had sent him his home address. Jiang Cheng saw that the message simply said "Brocade Manor Building 1" and nothing else. He could feel Zhang Tian’s impatience.
"Let’s go, we have a place to go," Jiang Cheng said, smiling at Zhao Shuai and the others.
"Where to?" Cloud asked.
"Zhang Tian’s home," Qi Rongfeng said, seeing Jiang Cheng’s expression and knowing it was a message from Zhang Tian. "He’s actually a good guy, just a bit pretentious."
"Actually, I don’t dislike him that much anymore," Zhao Shuai said.
Jiang Cheng and the others took a taxi to Zhang Tian’s place. Jiang Cheng saw that it was a simple villa community, and the greenery was nice.
Just as Jiang Cheng and the others arrived at the gate, they were stopped by a security guard, who said the community was strictly secured and didn’t allow unknown individuals to enter.
The security guard had a righteous demeanor and wouldn’t compromise, leaving Jiang Cheng at a loss.
Just then, the security guard received a call, and after hanging up, his expression softened. "Are you Mr. Jiang Cheng?"
"I am," Jiang Cheng replied.
"Sorry for the inconvenience, you can go in," the security guard said, stepping aside to let them through.
"Wow, this is nice. Zhang Tian really knows how to enjoy life. Even my dad’s place isn’t this luxurious," Zhao Shuai said, looking around as they walked through the neighborhood.
"If you like it, you could settle here," Cloud suggested.
"Come on. I’m just saying," Zhao Shuai said dismissively.
"Is this the place ahead?" Qi Rongfeng asked.
"Yeah, it should be here," Jiang Cheng said.
After saying that, Jiang Cheng knocked on the door, and Zhang Tian opened it soon after.
At this time, Zhang Tian was wearing casual home clothes, giving off a more laid-back and approachable vibe than his usual neat appearance. "Except the second floor, the rest is open to you," he said before heading upstairs.
As soon as he spoke, any sense of warmth disappeared into thin air.
"Man, what’s with his attitude?" Zhao Shuai said, annoyed by Zhang Tian’s behavior.
"Oh, come on, we’re guests here, aren’t we?" Qi Rongfeng consoled him.
Jiang Cheng looked around and saw that this house was a simple two-story. It seemed that Zhang Tian lived alone here, and it appeared to have a garden and a swimming pool.
