Chapter 1302: Chapter 1301: Capital City
"Haha, Jiang Cheng, you’re really reserved, aren’t you embarrassed? Trying to cover it up." Xiao Bai said excitedly.
"What? What are you talking about?" Jiang Cheng said.
"No, just now when you were asleep, you kept calling Qingqing’s name." Xiao Bai said.
"Ah, oh," Jiang Cheng thought about how he did call out Qiu Qingqing’s name in the dream just now.
"Haha, do you like Qingqing? You even called her in your dream." Xiao Bai said.
"Don’t talk nonsense; that dream was, well, I don’t know how to say it, kind of chaotic." Jiang Cheng said.
Qiu Qingqing was beside them, looking calm, as if it had nothing to do with her at all,
but Xiao Bai had a gossip-loving expression. "Okay, forget it, I think you’re just pretending." Xiao Bai mumbled, making Jiang Cheng both amused and exasperated.
"Are we almost there?" Qin Nan suddenly asked.
"Just a few more minutes." Xiao Bai said.
"Where are we going first?" Qin Nan asked.
"Let’s find a place to settle first, then explore the surroundings. After all, we don’t know the exact location." Xiao Bai said.
"Aimlessly wandering? Can we find it?" Qin Nan said, a bit doubtful.
"We’ll see, after all, we have time, right?" Xiao Bai said.
"There’s not much time for you to wander." Qin Nan said. It seemed she and Xiao Bai’s relationship had improved somewhat on this journey.
Qiu Qingqing was silent on the side, just looking out the window without any expression.
Jiang Cheng always felt that Qiu Qingqing probably knew the general direction, so he didn’t pay special attention.
Arriving at North Island, Jiang Cheng realized it was really cold here; as soon as they got off the plane, gusts of cold wind swept in, mixed with some snowflakes. It’s June, and snow really surprised Jiang Cheng. "It’s really cold. It feels like North Island is getting colder every year. It wasn’t this cold when I came here in junior high." Xiao Bai said.
"How can it get colder every year?" Qin Nan asked. "The climate in other places in our country is normal."
"But there are quite a lot of people." Jiang Cheng said, watching the bustling street.
Suddenly someone took a photo of Qiu Qingqing, perhaps because of the cold, there are some year-round natural wonders here. So on the street, Jiang Cheng saw many people with cameras, seemingly here to take photos.
But taking pictures without people’s consent like this is really infuriating.
The person who took the photo saw Jiang Cheng and others looking at him, and quickly came over. Jiang Cheng saw it was a young guy, not more than twenty, looking energetic, the type of sunny boy. He had a camera hanging around his neck, and many girls on the street were looking at him.
The boy quickly walked up to Jiang Cheng, looking at Qiu Qingqing beside him, "Really sorry, I accidentally took your picture just now... if you mind, I can..." Before the boy finished speaking, Qiu Qingqing had already walked past him.
The boy’s face suddenly looked awkward, his ears turned red. He stood there embarrassed, head down, not daring to look up. "Uh, well, uh, as long as you..." Xiao Bai said, feeling a bit sorry for the embarrassed boy.
"Um, okay. I just couldn’t help it; after all, she’s really beautiful." The boy said, scratching his head awkwardly, then brought the camera to Xiao Bai, showing the photo in front of Xiao Bai’s eyes.
Seeing there was no problem, Jiang Cheng also turned around, walking away, "Don’t mind what just happened, my friend, she’s just like that. Sometimes when I talk to her, she doesn’t respond to me either." Xiao Bai said.
The boy awkwardly smiled, thinking Xiao Bai was comforting him, "No problem, it’s still my issue."
Xiao Bai didn’t know what to say either. "I’ll go first. Bye-bye." Xiao Bai said.
Tong was waiting not far away for Xiao Bai, not leaving. "You’re so kind? What’s the point?" Qin Shu asked.
"What’s up?" Xiao Bai said, "I don’t think any of this is wrong." Xiao Bai said seriously.
Qin Shu stopped suddenly. He had always seen Xiao Bai as carefree and mischievous. Seeing such a serious Xiao Bai for the first time, he didn’t know what to say.
After speaking, Xiao Bai left. He seemed a bit angry.
Qin Shu stood at the spot. "How can these people be so snappy!"
Xiao Bai quickly caught up with Jiang Cheng and Qiu Qingqing ahead. Jiang Cheng noticed Xiao Bai coming but he seemed a bit different from usual.
The group went to the house Xiao Bai found, which was a place Xiao Bai’s mom had here before. It looked like a very neat little building. "Why did your mom buy a house here?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"My mom said occasionally she’d come here for vacation. So she bought a house." Xiao Bai said, opening the door, noticing how the furniture was covered with dust. "Looks like we need to clean up first." Xiao Bai said, looking at the dusty rooms, "Let’s do it together." Jiang Cheng said.
"That’s right, since we’re staying in your family’s house, of course we should clean it up together." Qin Nan said.
"Alright. After cleaning up, let’s go eat. Last time I was here, I had a really good meal." Xiao Bai said.
Jiang Cheng was surprised when he saw Qiu Qingqing holding a cloth to clean. After all, a girl like Qiu Qingqing wouldn’t usually do housework at home, would she? Besides, it didn’t seem really out of place for her character.
With everyone’s effort, the room soon became bright and clean. "Phew, indeed, there’s strength in numbers." Xiao Bai said, taking a photo.
"Taking photos to show off to your mom?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Hehe, you really know me, Jiang Cheng." Xiao Bai laughed. "Let’s go. I’ll take you out for a meal."
They quickly went to a nearby restaurant. Jiang Cheng saw it looked like a Sichuan restaurant, with a bit of a spicy smell as they entered, but it was fragrant. Jiang Cheng noticed it wasn’t quite like the restaurants in the Capital City before. There seemed to be many waiters inside, and Artificial Intelligence didn’t seem as developed, looking quite normal.
Xiao Bai sat in a chair and quickly ordered a few signature dishes. "Do you eat spicy food?" Xiao Bai asked.
"You’re only asking now?" Jiang Cheng smiled helplessly.
"This guy, already at the Sichuan restaurant, and then asking if others eat spicy food. I do." Jiang Cheng said.
"I do too." Qin Nan said.
Qiu Qingqing didn’t speak, still looking out the window, lost in thought.
But perhaps Xiao Bai’s concentrated gaze was too intense, Qiu Qingqing had no choice but to turn her head towards Xiao Bai and nodded.
"That’s great. You’ll definitely like it." Xiao Bai said with a smile.
Perhaps Xiao Bai’s cheerful and optimistic mood wherever he goes infected everyone, Jiang Cheng felt his own heart wasn’t as oppressive, and fear of the unfamiliar environment dissipated.
With dishes served, Jiang Cheng looked at many familiar dishes. Maybe he hadn’t eaten foods from Earth for a long time. Seeing these familiar dishes made him excited, and he couldn’t help but eat a bit more. "It’s really good." Jiang Cheng said, eating.
Xiao Bai also laughed, it was rare to see Jiang Cheng look so openly delighted.
The quick dinner ended. They returned to Xiao Bai’s house. "Where exactly are we going tomorrow? Do we have any specific directions?" Qin Nan asked.
